I know this thread is a little old, but I am having this same issue and have not been able to find a solution. I have the latest CFW released (5.00 M33-3). I can remote play via my network without any trouble. I am unable to play via internet, and this is the one way that I do use remote play. If anyone knows of something I should check, please let me know!

First thing I would check is to see if you have the proper ports open on your router. If you dont support UPnP, you need to manually open the ports.
Check this link for info.

I'll try mine and let you know. Remote play via internet is quite buggy, it's left my PS3 on a couple times when I was out of state. Luckily my dad was home to turn it off otherwise it would have been on for 3 weeks.

Are you running the 1.50 Kernel
Can you connect to your wireless network and access google on the internet browser
Do you have a slim or fat PSP?

Online is crap. I got a new slim and could never get it to do remote play outside my house. Then one day a few weeks back i got it to connect at work after opening some ports on my router. Few days later i go to work and try and it hasnt connected ever since and I havent changed anything but maybe the update on the PS3 but the settings should be the same

I actually have the slim PSP. It was working just fine before I downgraded to the CFW. I double checked and I had UPnP enabled just fine. I just got back home and did some further checking on my PS3. If I enabled remote play on the PS3 manually I was able to connect via internet (used a neighbors network lol). This got me thinking that something was not allowing the "turn on" packet through, although nothing had changed on my PS3 or router since I first had my original firmware working. When I went and looked under the remote connection settings it said that remote turn on was enabled. I went ahead and picked on again, just to see if resetting the option would have an effect. When I clicked on it brought me to the other screen that asks if you want to allow remote turn on via internet....lord and behold it was UNCHECKED!! After checking it back all worked fine. After some more research it seems that the PS3 might have been "accidentally" turned on by the router, and thus it shut the setting off on its own.

Hopefully this helps a few of the others having trouble still with the latest firmware. Sorry for bringing up an old thread without checking more in depth :P
