the starview box i have is picking up all the channels in galway but when i gave it to a friend in dublin it is only picking up about 45 channels. any ideas

He may have to do a factory reset and frequency fix. I presume they are on N**?

Not sure if you have autoroll firmware installed, (V2.57eE fixed for a clone box or V4 for a genuine box), to enable key autoroll.
So I would get them to input the keys manually:
n*l keys 8th July Ireland
Line 00 = A9 86 6E EA 39 EA 09 49
Line 01 = 9E 40 85 78 E7 82 10 06
Then follow these instructions:
1 Menu
2 Factory settings
3 type in code ( 0000)
4 press ok. this will delete channels.
5 Installation
6 Change provider (Eg n*L etc)to which ever one used in your area.
7 autoscan ( when it says *** channels found , exit back out all the way until u are back at the scrambled/no signal 'tv' screen)
8 Hit menu again
9 Type 1570
10 Cas screen appears, make sure key emu is on at the bottom.
11 Exit all the way out to view.

LOL I am a bit slow myself Celt. My broadband is acting up for the last day or two and I keep getting kicked out.
That or they are sick of me here :) That was an off thread topic so I better mention Starview, there you go I mentioned it :)
If I dont respond I have been kicked out again, cant send pms nothing or else I would have, it is not a site problem but my providers, so I am on for now, but will be more OFF I guess, until they resolve my problem :(
