Select your Windows XP-based PC, and then press the A button.
Find the music, pictures, or video you want to play, and select an item to play it.

Hummm... so you are not trying to use media center. your just trying to connect. you know you wont be able to watch movies on your 360 without media center right? or can you?

The problem is most likely, obviously, due to the ICS you have setup - you need to make sure that the xBox & the PC both are communicating together with the SAME Ip range - both the xBox 360 & the PC must be communicating over a specific and same range like 192.168.1.xxx - this MUST be differnet from what your computer is getting from the main network or from your modem. If you have another router ont he network, and it hands out addresses like 192.168.1.xxx, the other network card in the computer AND the 360 (the network port being the one xBox is connecting into) MUST be on a differnet IP range ...

Good luck figuring it out ... won't be difficult if you have some time, google, and experience ... if you don't, use a router ... if you're picking up wifi and then sharing that out, get an access point and then hook that into the xBox - or hook that into a switch and plug your computer & the xBox into it ... regardless, save yourself the time and hassel and just set it up right with some cheap hardware ...
