A scalded dog yells the loudest. Unlike the lonely I don't search the internet looking for friends. There are some correct responses in this forum, but the junk about erasing < > is bunk. I am a defector from the original DIGITAL VIDEO FORUMs. But never fear, amongst all the bull there is someone in here giving out CORRECT answers, to the problem at hand.

i'll bet the Universe is going to end tonight too. ..Whilst I can't vouch for the coming of Armageddon i do know that DVDFab most certainly does work for this movie.

@aintgotnosoul

Your bunk is rubbish. Removing the < > does enable the disc to be copied. It is proper to remove ones foot from ones mouth before expressing ones opinion. When you turn 18 you might understand, until then if you never have anything positive to add to this thread- bugger off.

Edit: You beat me to the smacktard, Creaky.

@agentsoul

You obviously haven't tried removing the < and > symbols from the title before using RI4M because it DOES work as I'm sure many people on this forum will agree. I think the moderators are doing a great job here and I don't get what your problem is. Why did you come to this forum in the first place?

Ok here is the story...I tried ripping the Blades of Glory DVD region 1 with Ripit4me...the same program I always use. It kept giving me error messages 'cannot create a directory'. I tried using DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Any DVD, and Nero. None of them could get all the way through the disc without read errors or cycle redundancy messages. I then tried Ripit4me again using the wizard mode instead of 1-click mode...no luck. WTF!!! Then I noticed that the title of the directory it was trying to create had < before the title and > after the title. It looked something like this:

C:\< BLADES_OF_GLORY >\

Of course!!! You can't create a folder with those symbols in the title. I deleted the < and the > and tried it again...success!!!
So, just use Ripit4me on 1-click mode, change the title, and when it opens DVD Shrink compress it like always. Any questions?

You're right and it's late. Creaky mentioned the movie only method early on. Plus, there are different ways of doing it successfully for those who like Movie + Menus, and Full DVD. Blades of Glory is no longer anything special. It actually got solved quicker than some I've seen in the past.

The newer copy protections try to effect DVD file compliance. This instance used title syntax to force an error. The movie industry's minions are just reminding us they're still there. ;)

that method has worked perfectly since day one, I'm surprised this movie has caused such an uproar. I guess if you are unwilling to try different ways of doing things this is what happens.

DVDIdle did have to do an update. It wasn't working right from the start. Slysoft was even slower hitting the mark. For the first time, RipIt4Me is requiring editing to work properly. But most of the suppliers that are still supporting decryption software are pretty much up to speed now. Blades of Glory wasn't one of the more difficult movies, but for doing Full DVD it posed a problem for those depending on supported software. Of course the Movie Only which Creaky went over works most of the time and did so with this release as well.

No reason to say easy. You already suspected you were late to the thread. I was simply agreeing with you. ;)

I think it's funny how they try to stump people with the simplest things. I am still having problems with the dvd, but I have gotten farther than my mom has with it. I am going to try some of the methods listed until I find on that works. Blades of Glory is the only movie that I have had problems with so far.

Shades of "Click" and Saw 1-3, the lemmings are ammassing again, stay clear of the cliffs. Now if we can just make them use the search button before they log in to post another how to copy this movie thread.

..is why i'm trying to keep only 1 thread for each (allegedly) troublesome movie release, instead of multiple threads. It's working much better (than numerous threads) judging by the posts of a few of the newcomers replies in this very thread, so i'll endeavour to keep just 1 big thread for future movie threads..
