I don't think this installer does the msinst because I tried like many times and it jigbattery + memorystick with still a blank screen. Just do it manually and read the readme if all goes right then it should work. I borrowed a friend's 3.40oe to make the memorystick cuz i had 2 bricks. Too bad one of the brick on bought on ebay has a crack lcd stupid guy didnt tell me tht. O well, just made another deal with different ebay guy and im buying a bricked psp in perfect condition for $60 includes shipping. Yay!

Are you kidding me?? I am just one step away from unbricking the psp I purposely bricked to see if this would work. It says "drive letter ipl_block_file" what does that mean? Is my memory stick blocking the file or something? Does anybody know how to fix this? plz if you know anything plz tell me

I agree after numerous times of using the installer i gave up and did the original way. I did learn that you MUST mspformat the mem stick. But if you are using XP you need to go into the folder options and UNCHECK the hidden files
{in folder go to tools, view, than scroll down for two options that says hidden files and uncheck them)
now all the files will be shown and can be formatted
than follow everything else precisely
i think the installer has something to do with the msipl.bin file
Great job though if it works for others

It was a failure. Okay, I had the battery I wanted to create into the Jigkick and I had the memory stick that was going to become the Magic Memory Stick. I used mspformat to format the memory stick. I used the easy installer. I installed Devhook. I ran Devhook and emulated 1.5. Then I ran pandora_battery. It worked. Then I ran pbfirm_installer. It worked. I fully turned off the PSP. I turned it on. Then the battery worked as a normal battery. I turned it on and off twice. It was just working as a normal battery. Then I switched the Pandora's battery with a normal battery. The PSP worked. But, I placed the Pandora's battery and the PSP turned on by itself. But only the green light is on. The PSP screen light doesn't turn on and it's just a blank screen. And I'm not going to buy another battery to try it again because I just spent $42.00 on the new one. Hmm, what are the chances of me bricking if I downgrade to 1.5, then upgrade to 3.52 M33?

EDIT: Aw damn. I think I know why it didn't work. I had Daxter when I ran pandora_battery and pbfirm_installer! Maybe that's the problem!

So here is my question. I have my psp on custom firmware and yesterday I get my friends psp that he won. Now its on firmware 3.51 official and I believe thats its a T-082 (think thats what its called) motherboard. Now if I can brick my friends psp by turning off while updating and then do the magic battery recovery will I downgrade it? and be able to use home brew? Will the motherboard be affected?
Basically has this been tried and tested.
It would be great seeing as this could downgrade all psps and solve my problem.

Firmware/Motherboard has no effect on the downgrade, but you can run the Pandora battery from a fully functioning PSP (This has been said many times already by many different people).

PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

I guessed that my question had been answered before I just had been searching so long this morning to fix my problem I was lazy.
I should have thought to come here first seeing as this is where I learned to downgrade my psp in the first place.

is exactly how you did the whole process then that is what is wrong. Do it a again manually and follow this guide. Follow it exactly, it worked for me first time...

IINSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Using the USB connection, connect the PSP with the memory card inserted.
2. Format the memory stick. You can use either Windows Explorer to format the disk, or use the PSP ‘Format Memory Stick’ option
3. Extract the contents of the pandora.zip file to c:\pandora
4. Open a DOS prompt (Start -> Run -> CMD -> )
5. type ‘c:’ type ‘cd c:\pandora\mspformat’
6. type mspformat (in my case W) – ‘mspformat W’
7. Stop the USB connection, and unplug the memory stick (you can leave the cable connected). Seriously REMOVE THE STICK FROM THE PSP
8. Plug the memory stick back in and reconnect to Windows
9. Manually make the directory on the memory stick for PSP\GAME and PSP\GAME150 (GAME150 for custom firmwares like OE)
10. Copy the two directories for each application into either the GAME or GAME150 directory (for me it was GAME150)
11. Download the official 1.50 FW update from http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=4
12. Extract the update and store it on the root of the MS, named UPDATE.PBP
13. Stop the USB connection and go to the application ‘Pandora’s Battery Firm. Installer’ – this only takes a few moments.
14. ONCE COMPLETED DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP – REMOVE THE MS FROM THE PSP AND POWER THE UNIT DOWN RE-INSERT THE MS AND POWER THE SYSTEM BACK ON
15. Once completed, start the USB connection to the Windows PC.
16. Copy the file msipl.bin from the MS to c:\pandora\msinst
17. from a DOS prompt (referenced above) do the following
18. type ‘cd c:\pandora\msinst’
19. type ‘msinst W msipl.bin’
20. ONCE COMPLETED DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP – REMOVE THE MS FROM THE PSP AND POWER THE UNIT DOWN RE-INSERT THE MS AND POWER THE SYSTEM BACK ON
21. Now, browse over to the MS under games, and run the application ‘Pandora’s Battery Creator’ – I recommend backing up the eeprom of the battery just in case (it’s 1K , you’ve got plenty of space). The steps should be pretty obvious at this point, if you decide to backup the eeprom, you’ll have to re-enter the battery program to update the battery firmware.
22. ONCE COMPLETED DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP – REMOVE THE MS FROM THE PSP AND POWER THE UNIT DOWN RE-INSERT THE MS AND ALSO REMOVE AND RE-INSERT THE (NOW MODDED) BATTERY. POWER THE SYSTEM BACK ON
23.
24. Congratulation, you are now in posession of a "Magic Memory Stick"
25. and a "JigKick Battery".

In order for the system to actually work, POWER THE SYSTEM COMPLETELY OFF and unplug the battery and MS, plug them back in, and power on, voila you'll see the restore screen.

No, you don't need a pre-bricked PSP, it runs fine from functioning ones.

hey, TOURAN, can u help me?
hi, the problems that the psp doesn't detect any homebrew (EVEN THE UNBRICKING STUFF) after a format using the mspformt.exe, but when i format using the psp its works every homebrew(the psp detects the unbricking stuff if i formt it like, but i don't wanna take the risk).i want to this right, so..what am i doing wrong?

DO I HAVE TO DELETE MSTK_PRO.IND AND MEMSTICK.IND?CUZ IF DELET THOSE THE PSP WILL NOT DETECT HOMEBREW APP

EDIT:thay should mention that u have to format it to a fat32, after that it worked for me(every step)
btw, this is the best thing ever made for the PSP

"It all began with...Birth be Sleep"

Thank you for making everyone able to run homebrew, the real reason to buy a PSP.THANK YOU! :):):)

The same damn thing happened to me. Does this happen to you? When you put in the battery, the PSP just turns itself on but nothing appears? That's what happened to me when I installed it.The PSP screen light doesn't even work. But when I use another battery for the PSP, it doesn't turn itself on and the PSP firmware boots. But I think the problem was when I was installing the battery and magic memory stick, I had Daxter in the UMD slot.

I doesnt matter what ever UMD you had on. Probably the issue is with the memstick, its seems like its not correctly converted to a magic memory card.. Make sure you followed the instructions, and before you place the Jigkick battery into the bricked PSP, make sure you inserted the Magic Memstick first, so it can load it once you place the battery in...

I have an issue of myself, my jigkick battery seems not to be charging, the problem is that when i converted it, its was almost empty, and i thought of charging it later on, and once i tried it, it loads the memstick fine, but when it tried to install the 1.50 subsets, it ask that the battery should be 50% full, and mine was only at that time 37% full, so i tried charging it, but after an hour i checked it was still 37% full, so is there something wrong with the batter itself or i have to convert it back to normal battery and charge it each time it runs out of life.. but anyway, i did foold the bricked psp, once it booted the memstick, i put the psp on direct power and replace the battery with normal battery which had 100% charge, and it runned smoothly :) ..

The 25 steps guide that was mentioned above, its how to create the pandora battery and the magic memstick manually, not using the installer.. and here are the manual files:

http://www.psp-hacks.com/2007/08/22/pand...-psp-unbricker/

and
