guys i need help.
i bricked my psp, that's why i'm trying my very best to unbricked it but it seems that i find it hard to follow the instructions..
i found a friend who has a psp version 2.71. I formatted it using mspformat and it became successful. Since pandora needs to run on homebrew, i downloaded the hen to the psp v2.71. When I run the Hen on the photo, the background became color blue so i assume that the psp can now run homebrew applications. Am i right guys?
The next step that i did is that i install the pandora installer at my memory. I follow the guide but when it says that "execute battery application on psp then press Triangle to back-up or x to.." after i execute the battery application. It automatically shuts down. even if i press the triangle or x, nothing happens. It just automatically shuts down.
NOw what? I don't understand it..

Nope. As long as you back it up before converting it.
psplife: Ceramic White 2.71 TA-082> 1.5> 3.03OE-C> installed custom themes> semibricked on the 3rd try> 1.5> 3.30OE-A> 3.10OE-A'> 3.03OE-C> 3.40 OE-A> 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33 update 4 > 3.71M33 > 3.71M33-3

I tried to covert my friends battery back (I did use the backup option from pandora's menu)and it did not take the backup file so I used the fake serial and so far no problems. This was done days after the Pandora released. He has seen no side effects of using the fake serial.
Also I converted my battery to a Pandora one then use XMB normal boot so I don't have to convert it back to normal. Instead of two batteries I have two MS(1 Pandora, 1 normal boot). Makes it easier to take it with me. Now I have a Pandora setup ready to go when ever I need it. I have noticed no side effects using this method either.
I guess what I'm trying to say is you always take the chance your battery will not convert back to normal and have to use the fake serial, but there are are other alternatives to using the fake serial.

Any ideas why the backup would not work? I've only tried converting the 1 back(it was official sony), but as I said it would not take so I just faked it. I have seen none of the side effects of doing so. All the others I've done had no need to convert back, so that is the only time I tried. Just wondering for informational purposes.

i've got no idea,there is about 2 in 10 chance that the battery won't convert back to normal,don't know why maybe there was a glitch or something when you backed up your eeprom
edit:i forgot to mention all the ones that were successfully converted back to normal i made using the GUI programme

Is it ok if you press the triangle button lots of times just to make sure it's backed up or are you only able to press it once? Hey also what exactly is that GUI program for? I saw it before but I still don't know what you do with it. Thanks

ok, since they closed my topic, i will ask here:
I want to buy a Pandora battery (I dont have access to a 1.5 psp). But I want to use it on both my brothers fat psp and my slim one. they told me i could use the same battery, but that I would have to use 2 different memory cards.
Now, can't i just format and reuse the same mem card? or do I lose the mem card once I install pandora's files?

yes you should be able to use the same stick,but it would be better to use 2 separate ones

I'm not sure but it may be because you are trying to run it from a HEN enabled PSP. I have not heard of anybody that has successfully accomplished this. I would install M33 3.52-4 on your friends and then try to create the battery. Use the GUI by mrdude to create the Magic MS and Battery. Use this link to downgrade the 2.71 PSP to 1.5 http://www.calo-hacks.com/2.71downgrader.html
Then upgrade to M33.
@bboy1
I don't see any harm in pushing the button more than once, but I also don't see a benefit. The GUI (by mrdude)is an easy installer for creating the magic memory stick and the battery. It is the easiest way to go. When done you will have the Magic MS, pandora battery, and have M33 3.52-4 installed on your PSP.

hmm, another question, they say it's "required" to have a 1.5 psp to create a Pandora's. But can't I just download that fw from the internet and load it in my memory stick?

Hmm i dont think you get the concept of it. You need to downgrade first, or get a homebrew enabled PSP. then you can make the battery.
PSP Firmware History:
2.71 -> Got PSP modded (Waste Of Money) 3.40 -> Downloaded DAX's 3.40 OE-A -> 1.5 -> 1.53 -> 1.5 -> 1.53 xD -> 1.5 -> 3.40 OE-A -> 1.5 -> 3.52 m33 -> 3.52 m33-2 -> 3.52 m33-3 -> 3.52 m33-4 -> 1.5 -> 3.52 m33-4 -> 1.5 -> 3.71 m33 -> 3.80 m33 ->3.80 m33-3 -> 3.80 m33-5 -> 1.5 -> 3.71 m33 -> 3.71 m33-4 -> 3.80 m33 -> 3.80 m33-5
40GB PS3 - one game. skate. hoping to get GTA 4 and COD 4 :)
Help me hack my ps3 (:

So it actually installs 3.52 m33-4? Cause I want to make the battery and MS for a slim and since slims don't use 3.52 m33-4, does that mean this GUI doesn't work for the psp slim? thx

Well you don't have to install M33 you can stop at any point, but you need different files for the slim. Here is what you need. http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1253
To answer your question NO the GUI doesn't work for the slim.

hi everyone...
im reposing my question as no one really replied to it....
i see reports in some websites saying the pandoras battery n the magic mem stick can dowgrade and unbrick just about any psp. but it has really got me wondering if future FW can be downgraded using them. cos im planning to get a slim psp and do the downgrade. and was wondering if the slim psp with fw 3.70 or maybe higher can be downgraded with the jigkick n magic mem stick. hope someone can guide me here... thanx in advance.

Just got a 256mb Pro Duo stick today, so now all I need is for the Tool Battery to arrive. Hopefully I'll be able to downgrade, I've been reading about the fun lol.
