Nope. I used my 2 gig fake memory card and it worked. Probably you just need to make sure its pro duo.

The Tool Battery arrived! It needs to charge for at least an hour, just 45 more minutes to go and hopefully homebrew will be running! I'll have to take some pictures, and scans of the instructions it came with a bit later.

EDIT: It works! I now have a 1.50 PSP, thanks to everyone here, Team C+D and Datel's Tool Battery. Thanks for all of the help everyone! Now, on to homebrew! :)

And for those who are just reading, I used Datel's Tool Battery, and Pandora's Box GUI for the Magic Memory Card (had to use PSP w/ 256mb Pro Duo card instead of card reader).

Any ideas on my pandora problem?

"OK I followed the instructions to a "t" for the easy installer. Looked like every was good. Now when I put the magic memory stick and the pandora battery on my psp, it doesn't boot up or do anything. The green light goes on but the screen is black. Can anyone help. I have a fhat psp with 3.40 oe cfw. I did notice after the fact that while I was making this pandora battery, I had a UMD in the psp the whole time. Could this have screwed things up? Any help is much appreciated. I hate to have wasted a Sony battery for nothing"

Yay for you! Good luck for homebrewing!

@ algtz1

Are you sure that it isn't your screen that is screwed?

Thanks for the response. I don't believe the screen is messed up because once I take the magic MS and pandora battery out and put in the normal battery and MS back in the PSP works fine.

Ahh, so it isn't bricked?

I suggest doing it manually, not using the easy installer :]

PLZ tell me how i can make this work
thanx alot

You can create the magic memory stick on your computer-its the battery you are going to have a hard time making with that firmware of yours....

Once my MS is turned into a MSS, do I just format it using the PSP to return it to normal?

Also, if I want to downgrade both PSP phat and PSP Slim using the same MMS and jigkick battery, would I just

1. Set up the MMS as normal and downgrade the PSP phat.
2. Format the MMS via PSP to return it to normal.
3. Set up the MMS with PSP Slim files and downgrade the PSP Slim.

Is that right? And once the battery is a jigkick battery, I can use it for both phat and slim downgrades right? As in, there's only 1 type of jigkick battery right? Not 1 type for phat and 1 type for slim? Thanks

Edit: Ok got some more problems.

I tried creating the MMS manually and when I get up to the mspformat bit, it won't format my MS. This is what I get.

I then tried using the Pandora's Box GUI Easy Installer and at basically the same part of the process, where I'm meant to type Yes and Enter twice, the command box flashes for a millisecond both times. I managed to print screen what it said.

I have no idea what the hell is going on....can someone please help me?

Hey Supp guyz....

I've had 3.71 M33 and was tryin to downgrade back to 1.50 usin da recovery toolz. Now when i ran the "Run program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP" it went fine as usuall then I ran the flasher. As it was flashin i noticed it had a couple of errors such as "ERROR PANIC: CANNONT FORMAT FLASH" and also ERROR PANIC: CANNONT FLASH FILES" now as the error said....I WAS SERIOUSLY FREAKIN OUT!!!.Then i realised after sony released FW 3.60 they modified the flash so you can't write files onto it. I made a back up of my flash (like I did everytime I've upgraded to a new CFW) then tried to reflash the back up.... I tried but it said i needed more space.. Now when that happend...I deleted every thing then tried to put everything back in again it still said not enough space..... so i formated it using the windows format option. After I've formated it i check how much space there was thenit said that 5mbs were used even though there was nothing in there!!!! So i put the vsh folder in there ( That's because if i flashed that, I could acess the recovery mode). Then i entered the recovery mode of my now classified "bricked" PSP. I tried to put the 3.71 M33 installation program in PSP/GAME/RECOVERY folder and then ran it in the recovery mode using the "Run program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY" option. Now i ran it and it said verifing 3.71 update then said verifing umodule.prx. So for sure I was like "SWEET YES IT"S WORKING!!!!!" lol. Then it got to loading sce updater...so i waited for half an hour then .....the thrill wore off so i then decided to make a pandora's battery...so b4 i get into the hassel of makin one again....will pandora's battery unbrick my 3.71 M33 PSP?.

Thankz,

Fruitz

Hey Fruitz, can't really help sorry, but is your PSP a phat or a slim? Lots of ppl seem to not like 3.71m33 on the phat because it has problems or something...is that right? Any idea if the slim's 3.71m33 has the same problems? Or is 3.60m33 better for the slim? Thanks

My PSP is a phat, and speakin of the slim...the slim doesn't even have a 1.50 kernal so technically speaking you can't play most of your homebrew and 3.71 M33 was a big mistake 4 me but i just wanna know WILL PANDORA'S BATTERY UNBRICK MY PSP (on 3.71 M33 that is). lol
Tho i do know P B will unbrick any firmware but just wonderin if it would downgrade/unbrick my psp because of Sony putting some flash protection crap on FWs 3.60 and up.

Hey fruit I think it should work even I bought a fat PSP a week back it came with 3.51 and by mistake I upgraded to 3.71. But then I got hold of one of my mate in office who has a 3.40 OE-A and took help from larryje, sicdude, igizmore, svtstang, guano and a lot of'em and It took me just 1hr to get 3.52M33-4 on my fat PSP.
If you want you can check this thread this is where I got my most help. I am obliged to this forum.

@Fruitz-You will need to use the pandora battery to revert from 3.71M33 to 1.50-The recovery eboot wont work, you will just get the panic errors..That is because of 3.71M33 not having the 1.50 kernel..

I had the same issue when updating to 3.71M33 myself..I didnt care for the new firmware, so I decided to try and go back using the recovery eboot, but I got the errors also...Fortunately I have a battery standing by for those situations..

I wonder if applying the 1.50 kernel patch that came out will resolve that?

What would be the best way to do this. Redoing it using the good battery and then place the bad pandora battery in when it comes time to convert the battery. Or is there a way to revert the bad pandora back to its original state? Because when I put the bad Pandora battery in nothing happens. Maybe I should take the Magic Memory stick out and put in the bad pandora battery by itself and see what happens. Suggestions anyone?
