which files are you referring to? The battery creator? If so, they go into the GAME folder on 1.50 firmware, or GAME150 if you are using custom firmware-You will likely have to create those folders after running the mspformat utility- Create a "PSP" folder in the root of the memory stick-then create a GAME, and a GAME150 folder inside of the PSP folder(ex: ms0:/PSP/GAME
ms0:/PSP/GAME150)

But if you could be more specific as to which files, it would make answering your question that much easier.

I mean the files that the installer extracts, where do I put them?
And also, do i have to put all on my psp?

You extract them onto your PSP. Run the installer again, but for the installation directory, select your PSP. It will be named removable drive under my computer.

I am not sure what files that easy installer extracts having never used it myself-I always made my batteries manually...I am guessing that it places the battery creator files into your memory stick in the proper location for you-In which case, you would probably need to have your psp hooked up via USB for the files to transfer over-

As far as making the battery-you just need to copy over the 4 folders to your memory stick (Pandora battery creator, and Pandora Battery Creator___%) and then the PBfirminstaller folders that you use after creating the battery and the "magic" memory stick...The memory stick part of the process is done on your computer aside from initially formatting the memory stick via your psp.

Personally, I used the guide found HERE to make my first battery-And found it to be much easier.

man, I have a problem. I follwed all the instructions word for word but still no menu comes up when I try to use the battery + memory stick. it just stays on a non-lit up black screen. im trying to use this to downgrade a 3.40 FW PSP and yes i created this using a PSP with custom firmware. So, what went wrong?

You must be missing files or something on your memory stick-I would try making the memory stick again-Might I recommend the guide found HERE?

Are you trying to run the mspformat on a Vista machine? I guess there is a known issue with running those DOS commands and Vista-I believe there is a workaround with the newer pandora installers (DC3, etc)I am not sure off hand which one-you will have to do some research...

aww.. yes i have a vista laptop

also.. If I just want to convert my psp slim 3.60 so that i could play homebrew, do i really need an extra psp with homebrew capabilities?

I only have 1 psp and 1 battery and 1 memory pro duo. I am having a vacation here with my aunt, and there are no stores around here... nor buddies I could borrow a psp from...

I hope I could do it, so I can play downloaded games on my psp slim, daxter edition, hahaha.

HERE is a thread that has the installer, etc. for folks using Vista..Unfortunately without a fat psp to make the pandora battery/memory stick-you are stuck for the time being-There is not another way to get the slim running custom firmware without the pandora+DCv3(Despertar Cementerio 3)-sorry.

Hi,I'm totally new to tis forum, I refer alot to tis forum as I can see alot of helpful ppl out here. May I apologize to pros who hav to bear with me..

there's a few questions I'd lik to ask (I've read through all 34pages of tis thread, search through google & the whole of this forum, but no answer can be found)

1-If I were to use a fake/unauthorized battery, will it spoil that battery?Or the program will just simply not work & I could still use it as a normal battery.

2-Same thing bout the MS,if it was a fake, will it break my MS or the program will just simply not work?

3-I've read this thing about IDstorage, seems lik it's kinda important to our PSP,I know it'll be safer to back it up,but the only software I could find to back up is called Maxsafe. Is there any other software that could back it up?

4-Is the Idstorage stored in flash0 or flash1 folder? If it is,does it mean that as long I have a backup of flash0 & flash1,I'm safe frm corruptin my IDstorage?

P.S:I couldn't find any fren who's a PSP freak lik me, I tried askin tis question to a few shops but none of them is willing to reveal to me or even know this thing exist. So I'll truly appreciate whoever clear my doubt & put up with me ^^

1>Using a fake or third party battery, can cause problems later on down the road..Its best to make a pandora battery from an original sony battery, and just leave it as a pandora battery...even changing it back to a normal battery has is quirks..

2>Again its best to use the genuine-For the magic memory stick, all you really need is a 512MB, and you would be pretty hard-pressed to find a phony memory stick of that size-the fakes are usually 2GB and greater..

3>If you are just using the original pandora battery setup-you can just use the option in the menu to backup or restore your nand...A word of caution though-If you run into a situation where you need to restore a nand backup that is not yours, just make certain you dont restore it with the idstorage, as each idstorage is unique to every psp.

4>The idstorage is located in an encrypted file in flash0-which would be restored via the pandora menu...As long as you have a complete nand backup from the pandora menu-You are safe...Its really not necessary to worry about the idstorage, or nand backups for that matter unless you are a bit more of an advanced user...Its not something to just mess around with for fun..
But yes, it is a good idea to save a copy of your original nand to your magic memory stick should it be needed-(mainly for unbricking)

Hope this clears up some of your questions-Your best bet is to scroll through the forums rather than asking guys at the gamestores, most of them are either clueless, or have been instructed to not talk about "questionable" practices that "may or may not" involve piracy.

Thank You so much dEEz,I've cleared alot of doubt. But may I know is it only possible to back up my NAND usin pandora menu or all I just need to
do is juz go into my flash0 and copy all the contents into my desktop?

So does this MaxSafe thingy a must to install?Or as long I as I use Pandora Menu,I don't need the MaxSafe?

Ok,so if I've backup my NAND,it'll be stored in my MS right? If I were to backup another person's NAND,will his/her's overwrite mine? If it will, does it mean that once I've backup my NAND,I have to immediately copy it to my PC & safe keep it?

One last question, lik the previous posts I've read in this thread (But no answer has been given),if my jigkick battery is flat out,is it possible to charge it via PSP? Or do I need to purchase an outsource charger mainly just to charge the battery? Because from what I know, once the battery is inserted into our PSP,it'll immediately go into service mode. And if you pluck in your AC adapter, then your battery,it'll works juz fine, but since your PSP is on,is it possible that it is charging despite your PSP is still running?

Thank You for anyone who'll be able to clear my doubt! Much Appreciated.

Ps:dEEz:You're right that game shop people don't really bother about backing up stuffs..Especially here in Singapore, game shop people is all about thinking tons of ways to gulp down that hard-earned cash of yours.. -________-"

Actually what I believe you'll tell me is just do it,don't have fear in doin it,for I found out bout the NAND thingy I asked u on the previous reply that yes,it'll overwrite my NAND if I were to backup other's. Thank You so much peeps for the tons of info you guys have provided in this forum. I really appreciate your effort alot. Thank You once again ^^

I am glad that I was able to help you.

About the Nand backups: What I would do is rename the nand dumps and you can either keep them on your PC, or just in a seperate folder on your memory stick-You can label them by the persons name, or just number them...ex:"JoeBlowPSPnand.bin"-that way if you are using your pandora for unbricking/downgrading multiple psp's you dont get them mixed up...But if its just for your own psp, just backup your own nand dump, and then rename it "mypspnand.bin" and keep it safe. Think of it like the system restore function in Windows. And then to restore your nand, you rename it to "nandimage.flash" and then use the option for restoring in the pandora or maxsafe menu...You will find that its good to have your backup on hand, but you wont really end up using it that much...

(a bit off topic)-About the flash0 backups: Its is good to keep a copy of the six folders somewhere on your computer-The reason you would do that is if you were to be altering your backgrounds, or themes in the psp menu..The folders that are commonly used are the X:/FONT, and the X:/VSH/RESOURCE-most themes have the folders already named when you download them, so you just copy/paste the Resource folder to flash0, and if there is a special font, you would copy/paste the FONT folder over to flash0- You probably want to do some research first before just messing around with themes though..

The Jigkick battery will charge if you plug in the adaptor first, and power on the PSP-then you just insert the battery so it can charge..

No, you need a custom firmware PSP to create it, it won't work with official firmware.

PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB
