Im a newbie but have been reading alot of posts and dont understand a few things..
I buy a Blu-Ray Burner
I buy Blu Ray Discs
I create an image and burn it to the disc
Why would it not work exactly since it is a complete copy of the original...
I as k bc people said it wasnt possible to do with Toyota/Lexus Navigation DVD's and I did it with no problem..
Yes it may be expensive but if it is an exact replica how can the ps3 tell the difference?? I do not mind making the investment in the tools necessary..
Also, on a side note.. i havent done a ton of research but has anyone heard of gamecopypro ( gamecopypro.com ) and if so is it bs or could it work??
Thanks again in advance to all that respond.. Your all gentlemen and scholars in my book..

The reason it doesn't work is because it isn't an exact 1:1 copy. The only way you could do this is by pressing the discs with the same machines that the production factories use.
The software used to copy DVD's & Blu-ray discs etc. need to break the copy protection and decrypt the data first. In that encrypted data is some code that the PS3 searches for before loading the software. So basically if the disc isn't encrypted as the original is, then the PS3 wont load it.
The way a mod chip works is via emulating the encrypted code required to load the games.

Have you seen this.. It was just released if i am not mistaken on march 21..it will:
# Removes encryption (AACS) from Blu-ray Discs.
# Removes BD+ copy protection from Blu-ray Discs.
# Removes region codes from Blu-ray Discs.
would that possibly work??
thank you for responding before and not writing me off as i intend to figure this out. it has to be able to be done.. i woring on getting a blu ray burner right now.. ill have to start there.. this has to be able to be done without a mod chip.. with time and money i intend to figure it out.. if they can do it so can i

Maybe PS3 is the first console which won't be cracked? I have always thought that every protection can be bypassed, especially in technology but it lasts to long...
It's time to go legit *sigh*

One of them?
I guess your talking about sony... and sony doesnt consist of one person. You could say the same for us 1000 could be counted as afterdawn (one)... anyway.
Personally i think its 50/50 if it will get hacked or not because im sure sony have learnt well from their experiences with the psp also...

I think you need to read my previous post again. I explained why copied games will not work without modification to the console. Games ere very different to DVD's/Blu-ray movie discs.

I am sure there are many people working on it. In fact it likely consumes every minute of their (hackers) spare time.
I really don't think it will take a few years. I am sure we will see something soon. My thoughts are that it will have to be renewable in some way. A modification that allows updates via firmware etc. Just as Sony will counter the mod with firmware upgrades, the mod chip creators will need to create firmware uprades to counter Sony's counter!... And that will go on forever... Just like Slysoft does with AnyDVD.

PS3 will get hacked. Its inevitable. Thats the way hackers work. They hack things... The harder the thing to hack, the bigger the interest for hackers to hack it.
True hackers just love challenges and nuts that are hard to crack.

Indeed a soon as i hear if its been hacked i will not update my ps3. If there are no custom firmwares then i might buy another ps3 and update that one...

Not sure if place for this... But, here it goes. I am trying to make successful Backups of my BR movies so they play on my PS3? Does anyone know the formula?
I have been using Newest Nero... also used Any DVD HD and ripping movie ISO on to PSR using Linux (Fedora Core 5) then burning with Nero etc.
When I go to play the movies they seem to want to start then they say it's an invalid disk.
I can play the movies on my workstation using Power DVD though.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I have a Sony BR Burner and PS3 with 320GB drive.
Anyway, let me know?
Thx

When you say PS3 Backups are not playable, does this include PS1 backups too? Or is there still a way to play those, maybe directly from the HDD? Cuz I know that you can only play PS2 backups with the swap switch thing. But is there a way to play PS1 backups without doing the swap switch?

IMO in every FW update that Sony releases, they update the security too.
How i see it
Like BD Vs HD-DVD war, that one great reason that BD won the war was the copy protection, something like that is happening to consoles.
The console that will not crack, or will crack last, will get more games and exclusive ones.
I dont think that i have to explain why.

Well to be fair I think they just don't read the stickies or use google before they post the question, the date may play some part but its mostly ignorance of common sense.
