Oh mi gawd! I read through this thread and the links given, and here is what went through to the murky muddy squishy puddle that was my brain.

PSP Slims can only be crac... I mean hacked with a Magic Stick and Pandora Battery.
You need a FAT battery to make a Pandora Battery.
To make a Pandora Battery, you need a FAT PSP.
The FAT PSP needs to be firmware 1.50
To downgrade to firmware 1.50 you need to have firmware 3.50 or lower.
To downgrade to firmware 3.50 you need Lumies.
To get Lumies you have to check e-bay for a 3.50 version Lumies.

I might have mixed something up or misread the instructions, (its kinda late (at least now it is after reading a plathora of guides)). So basically if I want a HACKED psp slim, I need to go to e-bay to get a Pandora Battery (I dont know anyone with a FAT PSP, nor do I want to buy one just for that) Or go to e-bay to buy a 3.50 Lumies and attempt to downgrade to 1.50 with a chance of bricking my slim. And attempt to pandorize my slim battery (youtube tutorials (with no words spoken whatsoever)) to install the most recent CFW (Custom Firm Ware).

Please enlighten me and tell me I'm wrong, or say "omg its not as hard as you make it sound" even call me names and flame me. But please tell me there is another way without buying from e-bay, I've had bad experiences and have boy cotted them for life. What must a FAT psp hacked magic stick battery less person do if he wants to buy a pie (slim psp) and eat it too (have CFW on it).

Please I implore you! (too much pepsi omg what time is it!!!111oneone)

*flame* *utter n00b* :) Sorry...

But you know what, it really isn't as hard as you make it sound :P

Right, the only way you're ever going to get custom firmware on your Slim is to get a Pandora Battery, now, the only way you can get one ready made is through eBay, which you don't want. So, there is one more way of doing it (And without having to hardmod a battery), ask someone on here to make the Battery and MS for you. This involves you sending them; 1X FAT Battery, 1X 256MB(+) MSPD. They convert them and then send them back, though you need to find someone who is trusted. Firstly, we would need to know which country/region you live in.

You can hardmod a FAT or SLIM battery if your battery is 1 of the compatible ones (Don't ask how to find out if they are or not because I have no clue).

You could also buy a Datel Tool Battery which is a manufactured service mode battery used the same way as a Pandora Battery is used.

HERE is a guide that shows you how to create the Magic Memory Stick on any type of PSP FAT/SLIM Official Firmware/Custom Firmware. All you need then is choose 1 of the above options to get the Pandora Battery part of it.

Thanks for the reply guys, I was about to explode (my hand if I tried hardmoding). No offense Shokz but I also have had bad experiences sending out stuff to people online, or anything involved using my personal info, as you said its hard finding trusted people (not that I'm saying you cant be trusted (I have trust issues)).

I think maybe I'll just buy a Datel Tool Battery, but I'm not sure of where if any I can purchase in store. Anyone know of any stores, or highly rated online shops (not e-bay) I can purchase one from?

Oh and how is the compatability with the SankDisk memory sticks? Any recomendations?

I've got a SanDisk 4GB, it's easily as compatible as a Sony, and it's cheaper. (I also think they're slightly faster)

The only option you have is a Pandora Battery + Magic memory Stick.

No Game Exploit or downgrader will work.

There is plenty of information on Pandora battery + magic memory stick in this thread so do a little reading.

Do you have just the 4gb mem stick duo, or the ultra? What is the difference anyway besides price? And would it be better to get the regular one or the red one made specifically for psp? I ask cause it would be a waste if they work the same, except the red psp one cannot be used in other devices.

Thanks!

Just the regular, the ultra really isn't worth the money, unless you can't stand waiting 4mins to copy over a large game?

I've got the red one, and it works perfect, not sure about the normal version though, but they should both work the same, i just got the red one because it was cheaper at the time.

One last question about Datel TOOL battery. Is it better to get the FAT TOOL battery, or the Slim TOOL battery for a Slim PSP? I'm thinking the FAT TOOL would be good cause it has more milage if ever I wanted to convert it to normal (i think I read it somewhere it can be done). But I'm also thinking that for future CFW versions would need the right battery for the right PSP? Or can the FAT TOOL battery be used for everything, even future updates?

Keep in mind its for a Slim PSP please.
Thanks!

Both batteries will work in exactly the same way with the Slim, so it just depends on which one you'd prefer to get.

Hey thanks alot for the replies to my questions Shokz, and larrylje for the mem stick guide, I really appreciate it.

I'll post back with my status report once I get everything, but I'm pretty confident with what knowledge I have, I feal like I'm ready for war lol.

To all the starter noobs out there, it really helps to research first before buying/asking anything you dont know. Thanks to everyone here I can start hacking my psp with confidence. If after reading everything and still need questions, the pros here will gladly point you in the right direction so long as there is effort in your part.

Thanks alot everyone, and happy holidays!!

Hi there!

My name's Tom. I saw good advice being given so I though, "I'll post...".

I'm thinking about getting a slim PSP for Christmas, or after Christmas. I want to be able to play the games from the memory card, so It'll need to be upgraded/downgraded/flashed - whatever you call it. My Chinese friend has his done, but it's a year (or more) old, so he used an old method which was dodgy and had a chance of bricking your PSP up. Now, I want to know a few things.

1) I want it to be simple to upgrade/downgrade - what's the best method? My friend has M33 or something... I know I'll have to check the system version, I will do when I get it.

2) Will I be able to play games straight from the card once I've put them on - my friend has to have a disc inserted so it thinks it's reading from a disc.

3) Could my PSP get bricked and not work?

Thanks, and sorry for the long reply!

Hey!

Hi im new to the forums here. I am trying to find out what I need to do to be able to load ISO game files on my psp but I am getting pretty comfused as where to even start. I have looked through the forums and I am not sure if I should downgrade to 1.5 FW or load a custom firmware. I just bought a fat psp from a friend and it has 2.71 FW on it. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

You need to find out what motherboard you have. So open the UMD Bay door and check to see if there is any text in the top right hand corner.

If there is text there go HERE and follow the section under -2.71 PSP (TA-82 or TA-86).

If there is no text go HERE and follow the section under -2.71 PSP.

After you get it downgraded to 1.50 let us know and we can then walk you through updating to custom firmware.

All of that is outdated.

Install custom firmware. It is more stable and easier to use.

Since your at 1.50 go HERE and follow the directions to install 3.52 M33-4 custom firmware (format your memory stick before installing 3.52 M33-4 and format the Memory Stick after you have updated to 3.52 M33-4 so new folder directories can be made for you to place PSP games and homebrew in).

Once at 3.52 M33-4 firmware place the ISO/CSO PSP game files in the ISO folder.

Place 1.50 homebrew in the /PSP/GAME150 folder. Place homebrew that requires 2.XX firmware or higher in the /PSP/GAME folder.

Go HERE and follow the steps to get your ISO/CSO games working properly.

You can rip UMD disc to your PC by following the below steps.

When at XMB (PSP Main menu) press the HOME button and the VSH menu should come up. Go down to USB MODE and select UMD and exit out of the VSH menu. Now connect your PSP to PC via USB and your UMD will be accessed for you to rip the ISO off the disc. After it has riped rename the ISO to the title of the game you have riped. Don't forget to change the USB mode back to memory Stick after you have finished ripping the UMD.
How do i format my memory stick?

thanks =]
