Basil, you have the UPMS, right?
If you do, then send your PSP to Sony then say you broke(don't say brick because it will make it look like you know much about the PSP)when upgrade to 3.72 then closed it. They will fix it then send it back. Using your UPMS, upgrade straight to 3.72M33-2 then have fun. Even if Sony fixed it and it doesn't work, then you'll have to keep creating Pandora's until you get it right.

@basil
What was the cause of the initial bricking?

Sounds like a hardware issue to me-even if the psp's nand and idstorage were totally F'd-the UPMS or even the v1 Pandora would light it up at least..When you have the memory stick inserted, it bypasses the psp's flash altogether. I would confirm that your pandora setup is indeed working on another psp before you go any further-Its possible you are missing the needed files on the memory stick for it to boot.

Hi, thanks for reply. What could be wrong with hardware? Only asking in case something has gone wrong and i can fix it by taking it apart. I was wondering about the screen but if that were the case the mem stick light would come one. If it were the memstick then i doubt that light would have come on under pandora original. I am willing to take it apart if you have any suggestions cos got nothing to lose at moment. Ninja reckons he fixed same problem using nadtool, does upms bypass nand?

btw, this is ninjas problem(same as mine) but he fixed his.
I can't get to my Recovery Menu, because when I turn it on, the power LED comes on, and the screen stays blank(no backlight, not even power on sound.) Then it just shuts off. Therefore, I figured I'd bricked my PSP and set to work creating a Pandora battery on my other PSP I have, which the backlight is defective but i can see enough to get the pandora programs working.

Now when I put my "Magic" Memory stick in, and then the Pandora battery, it turns on, and all three LEDs turn on as well, but the screen remains black, no backlight, not even the hint of an image. I tried pushing the X button, in case the screen wasn't working and the Memory Stick LEDs just stay on, no flashing, nothing. I tried hitting the Brightness button as mentioned in other posts, but not even that works. I'm at a loss here, and i'm astonished because my PSP had worked perfectly not seconds before I tried rebooting it in Recovery.
(then) Gah! I finally get it to run, and the damned thing freezes on "Formating Flash0", I read somewhere I need a NandTool because it's a problem with my partition table, and that I should dump my Nand and repair it with that, so that's what I'm going to do.

I'll let you guys know if that works.
(then)Anywho, the NANDTool got it working just great, followed the instructions for it, and now it's finally installing 3.71 m33 as I type. Though, i've learned my lesson not to chance the themes until updating to the most recent. x3. Thank you all again, for all your help, i'm soooo happy I got this to work.
sorry about double post, thought this was important.

1)You need it charged when unbricking. You don't need it charged when running the program.

2)You run the 1st step, then the 2nd(turn it into service mode) then 3rd step(choose the HELLCAT option, JOKER option, or both of them) then in the 4th one, just run what you want to be installed.

3)Backup your eeprom in the normal Pandora menu(I think)

Well when you connect your PSP to your computer, the first page you get is the root (it's where you have the PSP folder). NOT IN the PSP folder so it should look like this:
ms:0/1.50.PBP...
^this is the root.

I got one more question, should i install P.E.M (hellcat) and P.M.L (the joker) and ultimate loader and then patch P.E.M? Or do i only do one of these steps. I got confused in step 3 lol.

I swear I've followed all the steps correctly.

Using the multi IPL causes my 2gb stick to become unreadable, is that normal?
My battery is the Sony (i think its official) extended 2200mAh battery, will this work?
When I hold L trigger and pop in the now Pandora battery, the power light will come on solid, and mem & wifi will constantly flash, ive held it down for 5min and still a black screen. Not holding L trigger will cause it to boot to xmb, and the "This Memory Stick cannot be read" message displays.

Glad to hear you got it working-I am not very well versed in the nandtool feature-I understand how it works, but you can also write and edit the nand from what I have read..Thats next on my "to-do" list-also doing the physical restoring of the nand is another thing I would like to learn more about as well...I have come across a few messed up psp's and everything seems to go well with downgrading and installing cfw, but I get errors once I get the psp running the firmware...

@BillyTalentFAN-Did you get your setup working ok? It looked like you had a few issues there...

That is not normal-I would try using a smaller memory stick, around 512MB to be safe...It sounds like you have a bad/fake memory stick if you are getting read errors like that. It seems to work enough for the psp to boot into XmB if you dont hold the L trigger button-Maybe start from scratch and remake the memory stick with the installer...Have you had trouble with your memory stick before?

Thats in the Hellcat menu under "launch CFW installer" make sure you have the path set to that folder so it will work-refer to the first post, I put the instructions on how to set the path for that feature there..Its in bold red text.

Hellcat Menu-
This is the extended Pandora boot menu.

I have installed everything, but in that menu, I do not have any of the options that are stated at the top of the thread. I do not have the cfw installer... i really need it

I think it was designed to be done in order, so start at step #1...For the battery its step #2-there is an option to backup your eeprom in the menu of the second step. DO that before you convert to a pandora battery...It will save a small 1kb to your memory stick called 'eeprom.bin'-that is what you need to keep in order to restore your battery should you so desire.
