I remember seeing an option during the process "install official 3.71 firmware" or something to that effect.
Is this what would do it? and would it work even if i am currently on 3.90 M33?
yes just do network upgrade to 3.95 or use pandora battery to downgrade to 3.71 ofw included in the download
That answers my question. Thanks!

I had successfully used this to update my son's psp to 3.95 GEN and then update to GEN2

but I couldn't get ISO mount to work, so I decided to go back to 3.90 M33

I changed it with MUX20 which was wrong ???

It then wouldn't come back on, i'd bricked it

I tryed using the magic memstick to unbrick, (using datel tool batt)
this didn't work, nothing happened when I hit X

so using my other son's psp, I created a new magic memstick

this then started to flash, flash 0 was ok, but flash1 hung

I tried this several times

at wits end, i using nand dump restore.
ie. dump from good psp and restore to brick (had 3.60 )

Using the magic mem stick I am now able to install 3.71M33 or 3.71

but can't run any updates as it says "the game can not be started, The region code is not correct"
I get this with 3.71M33 3.71 and got same message if i tried to update to SOny 3.95

also UMD disk can't be read and mp4 playback makes screen go wobbly

Im in the UK, but both PSP as UK.

Any help gratefully recived

was the nand dump your own? because if it wasn't, then you're pretty much screwed. only chance of revival is to send it in to sony.

ok guys. i didn't realise a nand backup was an option. So i did it now after installing 3.90 M33 and got a 67MB .bin file.
Is it just that single file?
Have i done it right?

@kheytli3o
try different mem stick dude, like I said took me three diff stick to find one that works. this is an excellent guide but, some times it the hardware that needs to be tested to ensure it meets full compatibility of this guide

@BezG yeah you just get 1 file it should be named nand( or similar)and you can restore your psp with that. Just be careful you use it for that psp only. If you use it on another psp it does damage you can not repair even with pandora.

@kujodog it shouldnt matter what firmware you have. You should be able to install custom firmware. Please explain in more detail why you cant install it.

I've just ordered the datel battery tool, but I don't know what magic memory card guide I should follow. I have a bricked CFW and a working OFW. Do I follow the OFW to unbrick my CFW.

Doesn't matter what guide you use when it comes to the Magic Memory Stick. The Magic memory Stick part of the guide is the same for both official and CFW.

I installed everything on the memory card, and when I put in the TOOL battery the correct screen comes up. When I press X I get a message saying: PSAR decode error, pos=0x0000E080. It then turns off. Same for O. When I try to do a memory dump it says " cannot open nand-dump bin.". I get a black screen when I put my normal battery in. It may be because I have a 4gb memory card. i can't get a USB connection, so I can't reload the program. But is there any way of restarting/rebooting the psp?

Hey guys. i tried this, put in the pandoras battery and mem stick and it worked fine. but whenever I flash the firmware 371 m33 or original, it turns off halfway thru flashing. i turn it on with a normal battery, and its a brick :/

if i turn it on after it flashed with the pandoras battery, the pandora menu just shows up again. help?

take out the battery and only use the charger to turn it on. if you have the charger plugged in, take it out, then the battery, then put in the charger. the psp will still be in pandora mode when the charger is still in, until there is no power source whatsoever.

off topic: finally an aD addict!

Thanks for guide. Unbricked my son's PSP successfully ... but
I get a 80020321 error when running a game from memory stick.

I orignally went to firmware 3.90 but because of above error went complete cycle again, this time 3.71 - 4 (which I think it had before the brick). Only other clue is first attempt to unbrick it hung at the Flash0.... stage. I followed thread to use nandtool03b1 (whatever that is!) and that got me past the flash0 step. All then seemed a breeze.

Any ideas?

So does it mean that, IF i buy a Brand NEW PSP slim from the store now, I will be able to play ISO games on it if i follow ALL the procedures rite? Including downgrading it with a Dagel Tool Battery too.
