Make sure your choosing 3.71 M33 in the Pandora menu and not 3.71 firmware. 3.71 M33 is the CFW that needs to be installed to run games from Memory Stick. 3.71 is Official firmware and will be limited to what Official firmware can do.

Follow this guide HERE to get your games working properly after installing CFW to the PSP.

Hi folks,

Just bought PSP slim and updated official firmware ver 4.01 using the network update. If I buy the Datel MAX Power TOOL battery and follow the steps in this guide will it work? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I've trawled through a lot of websites and am still confused.

Thanks.

This is a great guide! I used the Datel Tool battery and a 1GB Sony memory card. Now on M33!

I really do not understand why there are so many problems. All people need to do is read the guide on page 1. No more silly questions, no more 'but how do I do this', READ the first page and browse through the post. I can't imagine a single questions that hasn't already been covered. Thanks again!

what does it mean with region code? and how can i fix it? i searched in the forums a bit but could not find a solution

thanks in advance for the help!

edit: i never backuped my nand before. during recover i deleted(?) partitions and flash stuff. can the problem occur because my nand is in trouble? and if so: can i fix that?

Great guide.

Warning to those on VISTA - I just could not get it to work. Windows XP machines only for creating your MMS.

I have now done both my sons PHAT PSP's and also a brand new SlIM that was on the latest OF.

Magic.

Just magic!

PS: mods - why was my previous posts on this thread deleted?

Here's my question.

I have the offical sony 3.95 firmware on my psp phat right now.
Im wanting to update to the newest 4.01 CFW

How do i do it?

I already made the memory stick but it only includes update 3.95

Can i download the 4.01 update and put it in the MUX20 update folder on the memory stick and do it that way? or is that a no no?

Or do i have to install them in order starting with 3.71?

The Datel battery will arrive tomorrow and I created the magic card. I've been searching the forums and threads after threads exist and most contain junk and can't find the answer to the question that I'm looking for.

One thread specifies that in order to install CFW on a PSP that currently has OFW, you need to have 3.52 OFW or higher. Another thread states that you need to have 2.71 OFW or higher in order to install CFW using the Universal Unbricker V3. My PSP has 2.71 OFW, which of these two statements are true? I don?t have any games that have a firmware update higher than 2.71 because my PSP had a broken LCD and was to lazy to fix it so I haven?t bought any games in nearly 2 years.

If I need to update using a game this will only slow me down, I hoping I won't need to. I won't use the GTA downgrader method because I don't have that game nor intend to use that method. Can some one help me out? This is the last thing I need to know in order to finally install CFW. Thanks.

I used this guide succesfully to make a MMS that flashed 3.90 m33 on to 2 phats running on 3.90 OF and 2.71 OF and one slim running on 3.90 OF.

So you are good to go when you get your battery!

Grateful to all p0sitive h4ckers everywhere.

first you have to use the tutorial here to download to CFW 3.71m33-2, then you can upgrade to CFW 4.01M33 and aferter that to CFW4.01M33-2... you dont have to use MUX you just have to put the 401.PBP and the EBOOT.PBP in the upgrade folder ms0/PSP/GAME/UPGRADE/401.PBP & EBOOT.PBP

the original post says "For those wanting to go to 3.80 M33 or 3.90 M33 or 3.95 GEN just go straight to it and skip the 3.71 M33-4 update."

So can i skip all that crap and goto 4.01 ? or do i need 3.71 to start off with?

When you install the custom firmware it will install 3.71 M33-2 you then can go to any firmware above right away.

I have updated the MUX file to include 4.01 M33/M33-2 and I also included the 1.50 ADD ON.
