the game that is currently circulating the web is not the full game, the full game is on the disk but accessing ceratin parts will crash the game and japanese text will tell you to turn the wii off. what is available is online play, VS's mose and single player. to make the game work do nothing to it once you have downloaded it dont regionfrii it and dont brickblock it, doing anything to it will damage the game and you would have made a coaster out of your dvd.
belive me ive had this game for a few hours now and its great .

Is the one on usenet the working copy? Or is it the one from azumi release?
How about this thing called brickblocker, is patching necessary?

this sounds fishy, unplug the wii while during the update? wouldn't it brick the wii?

Does the 10-15% trick really work. I've heard of people doing it before, but it seems to me that you run a chance of bricking your system by unplugging your system while it's updating. Has anyone successfully done the 10-15% trick with the single layered brawl disc? I guess I don't really have a problem with dual channels, but I'd rather not have them.

People keep mentioning that they think the US release will fix the dual channels problem. What new update is going to be on the US release that would fix this. I was under the impression that there is no new update on it besides the dual layered disc update which we will be installing with this iteration of brawl on the DVD5 disc.

It does sound fishy but i have accidently turned of my wii durring an update and all that happens is the wii reverts back to its previous firmware. There probably is some sort of fail safe device installed in the wii incase that does happen. I don't really mind duplicate channels because as long as I can erease em Im good, also I don't want to actually risk bricking my wii so if everyone else says just burna nd play thats probably what ill do and let the update happen. We need dual layer support ayways so i might aswell save myself a dvd. When the US update comes out Ill automatically upgrade to that...

ok, so here is the scoop for everyone still looking.

there is no direct linking here, so start by going to efnet.ogg, join any room, then enter /join #alt.binaries.games.wii

this is for usenet users mainly. But there they can offer the link to the NBS or the search from binsearch.info and use maybe Dairantou_Smash_Brothers_X_INTERNAL as the search term
Start the leech and get it done.

Now you need to burn 2 copies, one with brick blocker, one without (use a search engine to find their homepage if you need it still). Insert the non brickblocked version first, and accept the update, when it is about 10-15% completed, unplug the wii. Start again, but this time with the bblocked version. This avoids a "semi brick" that causes you to duplicate channels on the main wii screen. Even without this, people think it will be a solvable problem with the US Brawl update.

the file mentioned from usenet has a password, it is
wii-reloaded.info

I got this from the people in the IRC, its not mine and I really did try to follow all thread rules, so please be gentle
Can anyone verify that this will work on a PAL wii?

With a wiikey? Have wiikey created a fix yet?

So the 10-15% method avoids the double channel problem and still lets you go to your menu screen? No Draw backs at all?

So I just ordered my wiikey from modsupplier.com! this version will tide me over until my legit copy arrives in the mail. Question tho: Will running the update on the azumi copy automatically make the legit jap version playable with US wiikey on a NTSC Wii?

That's what it sounds like. Still, I have a problem with pulling the power while my system is updating. Seems like I would run the risk of ruining it in the process.

Here is what the chat people who have done testing with and without are saying.

Without the 15% method, you will get duplicated channel, but no other element of being bricked

And with it, you get non

I can say for sure that no one who has done the method has reported it failing to eliminate the channel problem ,or showing any other problem.

the update seems to slow down at the 15% mark, that is where you unplug it
Its up to you, a method with a general consensus of yes, or a definite dual channel that might not be reversible

If you get the double channels, can you just delete them afterward, or is it permanent until a fix comes? Also which version allows you to play vs?

what media do you burn it on single layer dvd-r or dual layer and if dual layer dvd-r or +r.

ive heard from some sources on another rip that even though it is a dvd5 rip it still needs to be burned on a dual layer disc. please confirm or disaffirm

i too hope someone can verify the above ^ poster's question.
Though its a DVD5 release, can we still burn it onto a single layer? Or dual layer is required for it to work?

thats just the thing, with the dual channels, I was told you could move them (rearrange) but no idea about deletion. But more importantly, there is no way to know if they will be removed by the next US update, but there is at least a general confidence in the 15% method as being safe and problem solving.

I was told that online, vs, and 1 player all work. One player might fail though if it tries to access any CG movies not in the rip. Anything with major film parts, consider out.

Ok so I think I understand whats going on. Someone ripped the game and you all are downloading the game online and burning it to a DL DVD+R and playing it on the Wii.

But I have an actual Japanese copy of SSBB already. Is there any news out that lets me play on a NTSC/U Wiikey'd Wii? I'm not really trying to download the game from the net.

Any news about this yet? Oh and congrats to all of you that are playing the game :)

Ok Guys,
Can you clarify up some questions for me?

1. Do I burn on a normal DVD-R or a DL DVD?

2. Will unplugging the console during 10-15% screw anything up and what does it do?

I was downloading the Azumi Brawl torrent at 300-500kb/s for like 2 hours. When I got to 60% the speed suddenly dropped to 40-100kb/s WTF? Its the same number of peers and seeds also im like seeding at 500-800kb/s so it seems kinda unfair this is happening? Does anyone know why? Im thinking because there are fewer fragments of the later part of the file floating around the speed has suddenly dropped because not enough people have them. I was hopping to be playing within the next 3 hours...aww man.

I'll try the 10%-15% method to avoid the channels now that people are telling me I won't be able to delete them. But hopefully nothing will happen to my system meny or my other updates...orr my wii in general!
