If it's error 001 I would check to make sure you updated properly. The 1.9g update disk runs twice. The first time it detects that firmware the wiikey has on it, and the second time it updates. It plays a Homer Simpson 'woohoo' when it updates successfully.

Also, with what type of disc and either +R or -R.
EDIT: Nero didn't burn the disc well, keeps crashing in the second stage in SSE. Burned in Clone CD, works great. Used Memorex DVD+RW DL. Verbatim -R are the best to use I hear though.

Let me just check my NTSC-U version of Brawl. Oh wait...

It's possible that the save files will be compatible, but nobody knows.
actually the only thing I know about the save file is that is around 500mg. Pretty damn huge for a save file if you ask me. But who knows. It should be compatible because I got a save file for Naruto EX2 and it worked fine. This link tells you all you'd want to know about save files. Link here If any of you come across a save file for SSBB please pm me.
Theres no way the save file is 500mb. The wii only has 512mb of memory. I havent checked but I doubt the save file is larger than 10mb.
The save file is 128 Blocks which is like 8 MB, at most maybe?

Someone tried to apply the Wii Update Remover instead of BrickBlocker on the DVD9 Version?

Is there anyway to get past that green japanese "cutscene missing" screen without restarting the Wii?

Well i got the confirmation i needed ... so for the noob and people who dont want to waste there time looking for the solution here it is ...

---- Super smash Brawl Solution ----

1 - Be Sure That your WII console FIRMWARE is at VERSION 3.1

2 - Be sure your WIIKEY is at VERSION 1.9G

3 - Be sure you have The FORCED REGION set to ON in your WIIKEY CONFIG

4 - Download BOTH VERSION of The Game, CARAVAN DL and a DVD5 Version ( for people who dont mind use 2 DL Disc stick with only the DL version )

5 - BURN the DVD5 Version AS IS

6 - DOWNLOAD the most recent WIIBRICKCLOCKER ( VERSION 1.3R2 )

7 - using that program , WIIBRICK the DUAL LAYER VERSION

8 - BURN the DUAL LAYER using GOOD MEDIA ( i suggest verbatim DVD+R DL ) on IMGBURN at MAX SPEED of 2X !!!

9 - Now Put Your DVD5 version in the wii it Will ask for an Update , Run it until 15%-20% max and POWER OFF YOUR WII so you will not get duplicated channel

10 - Now Put In your Dual layer and PLAY THE KICK ASS GAME !!!!

So just to be clear:

There is no way to play the DVD9 version without doing the partial 15% update through the DVD 5 version?

Even if I get the dvd9 version, and use the new version of brickblocker on it, it wont work unless I download the DVD 5 version too and do the update to 15%?

thanks for any help

i believe that 15% adds the DL support on the wii, so u might wanna do it. In all my modding history this is the most complicated Game I've seen.

And besides that haven't you read the past post? Like 8 ppl gave directions out...

In order to play this game RIGHT NOW, you MUST either run the upgrade to 15% or 100%. You cannot play if you don't do either of these. Over 1300 posts and people still don't understand.....

hi guys, this is my first time writing to a forum, I normally just read them because im like i lil'bit shy u know, LOL...

Ok i've been following all the thread but now im a lil bit confused, let me explain..

im downloading the TMD (DVD5) version of SSBB from a torrent, right now is at 95% slow, downloading at 5.5 kbps and sometimes at 10 kbps dunno why cuz i have a DSL at 1 mbps connection, ok...the thing is that when i get the game downloaded how i will be able to play it because there are a lots of tricks, setups and whatnot, like do this and do that but u will get this and is gettin a lil'bit to complicated and confusing, what i want to know is if my setup will work with the game (NTSC-U, Wii Updated to 3.1U, Wiikey Recenly Updated to 1.9g, With Region Free On)?

im downloading dvd5 version not dvd9 because is much faster than the DL and i just want to play VS till the US version comes out...

Also if its not that much of a trouble, can u tell me if i need to brickblock the DVD5 and regionfree it (patching the ISO) or do i just burn the ISO and insert the disc on the wii and update the wii? i really dont care if its only Duplicate Channels that i will get....

Thanks in advance...and thanks to all of u who have posted ur experience its have been much of help for me and for others to Thanks. :D

first i guess my post is cristal clear about to get the game running

you cannot play that game without doing the partial 15% trick , only putting a brickblocked version ( either dvd5 or dvd9 ) wont work

You Need 2 DVDS and we dont mind what you use ( 2 DVD5 version , 2 dvd9 version or the perfect been one of each !!! ) as long as you have one Brickblocked( To run the game ) and one clean ( To Do the 15% )

I burned two DVD5, one with regionfrii(PAL)+brickblock and second with only regionfrii(PAL). Second disc starts to update and I did the 15% trick. After that I popped the other disc with brickblocker. Systems show that the game's inside(shows SSBB logo) but when trying to play it tells me that console can't read the disc.

I downloaded the Azumi version. Is it any good?
As mentioned before, I have PAL wii. Any advices? Should I fully update or is there any chance that the console would turn to a brick?

Your disc is probably bad. Try burning the brickblocked one again.

My DVD5 version was the Azumi version and it worked fine for me, so there is no problem with that version.

My Specs:
Wii - NTSC-U 3.1
Wiikey - 1.9g
NX DVD's
Used ImageBurn on 2x speed

I would suggest try burning the brickblocked one again possibly at a lower speed (there may have been a problem with the burn). By the way, did you use the new version of brickblocker (1.3R2) or the old one (1.3)? I used the 1.3 when doing my DVD5. I'm sure the 1.3R2 would be fine, but since it's so new there might be a few bugs in it.

On a second note, I'm 99.9% sure that doing a 100% update (instead of 15%) won't brick your Wii. You will definitely get the two Japanese channels and there is a possibility that you may not be able to go into the Wii Settings, but I haven't heard from anyone about getting a complete brick from updating all the way.

So, does anyone have first-hand confirmation that the brickblocked DVD9 version won't work without updating with the DVD5 version? I've read pretty much every SSBX thread from SEVERAL forums and no one has said they personally tried the brickblocked DVD9 without already doing the 15% trick or having double channels.

Apparently I have brickblocker 1.3

Bummer... I just burned my last DVD5. Guess I just have to go buy some more and try again :P

btw, I noticed that I hadn't updated my wiikey properly. After proper update, I tried again. Now the game didn't gave any error message but just shows black screen instead.

edit: I burned the brickblocked disc again and it didn't work. Trying again soon with brickblocker V.13R2

If you burn one copy and brickblock it and try to run the game it won't work (whether you try the DVD9 or the DVD5). The reason is (as far as I know) that there is something in the first part of the update that is needed in order to read the disk.

correction I meant 1.9g not 1.9b. I have 1.9g Wiikey patch.

Okay I tested the disc but it still doesn't work. However, I believe the game actually starts and I could play the game since I found that there was a save for brawl in my wii memory and the console seems to do something while pressing buttons when the game "starts". So I just have to somehow get rid of that black screen.

edit: FIXED THE PROBLEM! I just changed the tv type and stuff and works like a charm :D thx for your help!
