hey guys im getting the same problem when doing the wiikey swap technique it will not let me go past the now loading screen n the screen turns white and it is an original copy man i really wanna play this game is there a way to fix this, thankfully though the recovery disk works perfectly so switching back to not being able 2 c smash bros in the logo n playing my backups works gr8 but anyways hope someone can help with a solution

Nice just for the heck of the game I went ahead and swapped my Wii with my neighboard, he was really happy to play all my games :D now I was able to play MY Game on his Wii, but I am ready to try it on my Wii and besides that almost ready to do the backup to my HD. thanks to all the guys, will test and be updated on the WiiKey updates to see if they release a CURE! :D

By swap you mean unplug during update? Make sure you're updating to a different version (if you're at 1.9g, go to 1.9b), and try unplugging at 60-65%, which is what I did twice, and it worked fine. You'll get it, ssbb owns!

I believe i am in the same boat as most of everyone who bought the SSBB.
For a odd reason, we use wiikey 1.9b with 3.1 update and brought the REAL ssbb. The wii says it cant read the disc. Anyone know how to fix the problem or that is how it goes.
Anyone using a real SMG on these conditions?

Get the 1.9g update and the recovery update from the sticky, then update to 1.9g and when the actual update's at 60-70%, unplug the Wii to disable the wiikey. Backups wont work, but SSBB will. To reenable and break SSBB again, use the recovery dvd. Easy as pie for people who play only one game for a while.

Seriously, read at least one page before posting.
If you have a Wiikey in your Wii then you won't be able to play the original copy (as long as the wiikey is working)
To fix this, you can either uninstall your wiikey, put a switch on your wiikey, corrupt your wiikey firmware, or download the iso and burn it to a DL disk and play it until there is a wiikey firmware update. I am not going in depth on how to do any of the options as they have all been mentioned in this thread and you can use google to figure it out.

So when burning the USA dual layer rip onto a DVD that's going to be used on a wiikey, does setting the layer break at 2084960 help reduce/avoid errors, or is that just a fix for wiinja and D2C? I realize the images that were burned without this fix also worked for wiikey users, but I just wanted to see if anybody could confirm that a layer break of 2084690 works on wiikey and could possibly be a more optimal burn. Don't want to waste these DL DVDs.

Quick question I remember that someone mentioned you need to update your DVD Drive before beginning friidump... I have the LG GDR 8163b where do I get the update for this, cause while waiting for friidump it failed... any help?

Sup guys has anyone found a way to Dump the USA SSBB I tried to Dump it with Raw Dump 2.0 with a LG-GDR 8163 and it just says i have a faulty drive but when i Dump different games like SMG or Wii Sports it works fine. I dont know what the problem is i was just thinking you cant do it cause its to big or somthing iono is there another Dump program that might work or somthin??? l8ter

This is not a region problem, you havent been reading right? This is a WIIKEY problem! And all I am asking is for the 8163b firmware update to the LG DVD Drive.

If you read above and on the previous page, there are some explanations/solutions to the problem you're talking about.
With reference to this though, retnuh730 > I know this sounds stupid but... it has to be a different version in order for the 'trick' to work? I'm assuming what you're saying is because say you have 1.9b already installed, and try to 'update' with 1.9b, the files which are incomplete (via pulling the plug) are actually still there and therefore the 'trick' will not work? Thanks for the clarifications.

some people have mentioned trying to dump the game for backup, but what exactly are you doing? Is the current issue a lack of the WiiKey being able to read dual layered discs, and if so do you think that a dual layered backup would work? Is there a chance we will see a WiiKey firmware update in the near future? I, personally, would love to have the info from this thread synthesized into a sticky so I wouldn't have wasted the last half hour poring over the last 4 pages of forum to get practically nothing.

Practically nothing? I find your post offensive as there were solutions given, to disable the Wiikey and to dump the game... so please dont say that the guys havent done NOTHING, cause that is not real... If you have or know a better solution help the guys find a solution instead of criticizing what they got? And if the solution is not for your please keep googling then until you find something in 1 or 2 weeks...

Hey DrakeX, is there an answer to ANY of the questions I posed? No, then I contend practically nothing. There are solutions as to how to play a retail copy, yes, but there were no specific mentions of whether the problem was with the update, the dual layer disc, or what. There was no answer as to whether a backup must then be single or dual layer to work, and if the update must be run first to make it work. Many of the solutions given in the other 70 or so pages have to do with the Japanese release, which I could not possibly care less about. I simply noted that I found nothing concrete about backing up Brawl or news on a firmware update. The very fact that I have to pore over so many pages to get what information I did get about making only the retail copy work makes me honestly think I got practically nothing. And in case you missed it, my constructive advise was a sticky, and I never told anyone any information was useless, just that there is very little of it spread through far too many pages and posts.

Thanks for posting a really nice vid. Unfortunately I went through the same exact steps, but I am facing a problem:
-Upon inserting the Smash Bros Disc and clicking start, I am faced with the smash bros "Now Loading..." screen which never goes away.
I went through the following steps:
1.) I had 1.9g update already.
2.) I used the 1.9b and pulled out at 70%.
3.) Smash Bros was recognized, but as explained above, the Now loading.. screen just was stuck.
Any ideas anyone?

hey guys the wiikey swap trick works unplug it around 60-80 4 me i did it at 75 just like the other guy did it works gr8 n u can easily go back 2 backups without a problem this game is amazing though i dont think ull want 2 go back 4 a long time thanx a bunch u guys rock
