What version firmware is your wiikey? You have to use a firmware of a different version than your current one. If you have 1.9g then try using 1.9b and vice versa.

I was attempting to burn SSBB and it got to 99% when it said "Failed to close track" or something like that and then I clicked cancel and then it "failed to finalize".

What is my problem? Bad disk? I am using IMGBurn with Memorex R+ DL disks.
What iso are you using? I dumped my own and burned it just fine with ImgBurn and the same disks you are using, so my guess would be that it is a problem with the iso, however, you might want to try the burn again, it might have just had a problem the first time.

Never use Memorex under any circumstances, ever.
I have used Memorex DVD+R DL for both the JAP Brawl and the US Brawl. Both worked for on the first burn with no problems. I would say they are reliable.

I'm about to start my burn. My computer is excellent and I'm sure that I won't get any buffer problems but I have had a lot of bad luck in the past with browsing the web and running programs while burning Wii games. When I am done extracting the ISO, I will reboot, shut down ALL programs that I don't need and I will set my screensaver to not activate for an hour.

And sometimes I have to try more than once. That error you got is something that I have seen in the past and it just kind of went away for me.

Just adding some info, I have Wiikey. I played JPN Smash ISO for month now (I used the 15% update trick), and just got the Wiizard ISO rip. I had to initialize system update for USA Smash but after that it is running fine no problems. Even Wifi works.

Should I get IMGBurn 2.4?
Should I change the dual layer setting to 2084960?
What should my write speed be?

sucks that you can't copy the brawl save onto a sd card; tried myself just now. that means whenever you take brawl to someone elses house, you have to start from scratch.

so if you unlocked everything, you'll have the joy of doing it again on a different wii.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

I don't know what version of ImgBurn I used, but it definitely wasn't the newest since it asked me to update and I said no. I'm not at the computer I used to burn it, but when I go back to it I'll look at the version

I didn't set the layer break. I have burned both the JAP version and the US version and both worked fine without a layer break.

I always set it at 2x speed (although it ends up burning at 3.9x (don't know why).

if there was one game you should buy you should definitely buy SSBB :)
besides, buying it now and ripping it and burning it into a DL would be way faster than downloading it lol.

but i guess everyone has their own ways :)

I ripped and am currently burning the image with the 2084960 split setting on verbatim 2.4x DL disc using imgburn. The same imgburn version and split setting used to make my working DL JP SSBB.

in fact, here's some numbers if you decided to buy ssbb and rip it using Friidump 0.4.0

Filesize: 7.92GB (8,511,160,320)
CRC32: 36b270cd
MD4: 99bbf3e8a7f991b7a481fa5aeec2a2f8
MD5: e4a8a47da995746c0f78e3d214795678
SHA-1: 1ff14beb71a334a9c55d4d8a978931503a95dfda
ED2K: cfea1ce519bcfd8e957e3da93e64d6c8

above numbers were confirmed in another forum to be the same as mine. And it only took me 1 hour to rip it, weird.

Thanks.

If someone could please respond, I'd appreciate it. I don't want to waste this last disc on just crap that won't even do anything, like the first four discs of this five-pack.

I put them in the Wii, they don't even make the 'loading' sound. They just go in and sit, pretty much. Never come up on the disc channel, don't even register as having anything on them on the computer, even though the burns were verified as being true.

I have tried changing booktype, using excellent media (Verbatim, which has so far had a miserable track record as far as I'm concerned), and burning at various speeds. Slow, medium, max, none worked properly. I tried cleaning the lens. It doesn't work. It makes no difference.

I would like to know something that actually works. The burner can burn DL DVDs and has done so successfully before. There is just something about this that isn't working. Any ideas? My details were given earlier in the thread, if anyone would be so kind. Thank you.
