i just burnt the game, Wizard version with image burn and using the proper layer break, NTSC console and back up, but the game in my wii, I checked my mesages for the new firmware update and updated it, my wii resets, then on the disc channel it says there there is an update for the game, at this point im like sweet b/c it looks like its reading the game.
I choose the update from disc, it updates after a few seconds, wii restarts and now I can see SSBB on the disc channel, I select it, choose start, and after a few seconds of black screen, i get an error message saying:
"An error has occurred.
Press the Elect Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii operations manual for more information."
Any ideas whats going on? I have no clue wut kind of mod chip i have b/c the guy that did it ripped me off and said its a wiikey and when i took apart my wii last year, i realized it wasn't a wiikey

for those that have corrupted their wiikeys and successfully been able to get it back working, what media did u use? and when u reset the disc with the drive inside were there any audio cues that it was working? when i use the revocery disc it sounds like it's spinning or a second or two then stops. when using that 3-5 minute recovery is the disc supposed to be spinning? if not, then i'm definitely doing something wrong or i need to buy better discs. i'm using memorex dvd-r.

and i think i fall into these two categories, but for #2, my wii can read my reg gamecube games....is that what that meant?
2) Wii cannot read Wii backups, but read Gamecube discs: then use update/config discs in GCOS mode
3) Wii does not read either Wii or Gamecube backups, then the RECOVER disc is the only solution, unless there is a physical problem, such as soldering, wiring, drive optics, dvd media burn, etc..

I get a kick out of these members that blame Nintendo on causing the retail version + Wiikey issue.
First off there are tons of other Modchips out there other then the Wiikey and I haven't heard of any issue regarding the retail version not working with those Modchips.
I doubt Nintendo was scamming and building this release around Wiikey chips only and making it impossible for the retail version to work but yet let the backup copy work.
As far as I understand it is the Wiikey firmware that is causing the issue. It can not distinguish between a dual layer retail and backup. So when you insert the retail version the Wiikey stays on instead of disabling itself like it should this interfering with the retail game disc.
So you have actually 2 people to blame...
1) Wiikey team.
2) Yourself for installing a Wiikey and trusting that the Wiikey team can get the job done when evidently they can't. Where are they now on this issue?

well put larry. people forget that they take risks when installing modchips. it's a good thing my brother didn't get our wii chipped before brawl came out. that gives me more time to look at other modchips.

I would wait a while and see how well this new Wasabii modchip works. Seems like the best alternative for DMS/D2A/D2B Wii owners. It very well might be the best for D2C depending on how the Modchip works when released to the public.
Even then I would like to know how this is going to work with wasabii. If there is only going to be 1 firmware for all Wii systems or if they will have separate firmware for DMS/D2A/D2B and a separate 1 for D2C.
If they all use the same firmware then that will be a + for the DMS/D2A/D2B owners since they will get a firmware update the same time as D2C owners do.
It will be very interesting to say the least how all this will turn out.

yeah, i'll wait after the wasabii comes out. our wii is the non-cut D2B, according to the nintendo scene wii tracker.
more modchips should have the jtag programmer, like the argon. no need to burn updates. if the argon was compatable with D2C-prior chipsets, i would've been sold.
back on topic; nintendo was dumb for not allowing the SSBB data to be copied. it's smart because some lazy people can just download it, but what if you want to back it up?

yep. whenever you try to copy the game save (128 blocks), the system will fail to copy it to the sd card; it'll show "cannot be copied" message.
i know my sd card is working, because i copied all of my other saves off the wii.

I will give it a try. I thought for sure I saw someone say you could make a backup but it can only be applied to the Wii you copied it from.
UPDATE: your right mine dosen;t copy either.

for anyone who's trying to copy their SSBB save data (U.S. brawl used), you will get this.

that means you will have the joy of doing everything over again on a different wii.

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how if it can be done, to convert Japan Brawl save into USA Brawl save. I unlocked everything in JAP version and was wanting to know if I could convert it.
