My Wii is an NTSC version 3.2U and is modded with WiiKey with the 1.9g update. I bought a retail copy of Brawl and it will not work.

According to this thread I need to crash my WiiKey Software, I just want to confirm that after I use the 1.9b disc to crash the WiiKey Software (making my Wii not able to play backed up games), will I be able to use the 1.9g disc to reinstall the software to play backed up games again?

I bought my Wii premodded with the 1.9g update already so I am new to this whole thing. Any help is greatly appreciated. I just want to confirm before I screw up my Wii. Thanks!

Edit: I downloaded the 1.9g USA update and the 1.9b already formatted and ready to burn from the pinned thread in this forum. Is it Ok if I burned each of these to separate Sony DVD+R SingleLayered disc? Or should I use Memorex DVD-Rs?

No problem here. Had success the 1st time. Used Memorex DVD+R DL @ 2.4x. Burned w/Nero Express using a Mad Dog 18X Triple Format DVD-RW drive. Also make sure that you have nothing running in the backgorund. Was able to successfully update and play. Game runs quietly.

Hi, I burnt mine at 2.4x using verbatim DVD+R DL, and when I put it in the wii it prompted me to update, which I did, then it appeared to be working until the first fight. About half way through the fight, it froze, with my speakers giving off an awful buzzing/siren sound. Is this a bad burn or do I need to use some sort of brickblocker or something?

I'm using a PAL wii, with wiikey 1.9g, and 3.2E

I am the one who tried 4 times with Verbatim DL+R (2x, 2.4x, layer break, Nero, ImgBurn, etc.) and couldn't get it to work. What do u know?
I got my Memorex DL+R today. Burned it with 2.4x ImgBurn. It's working perfectly. Watched the whole Intro with any problem and able to play for half an hour now. So cheaper Memorex DL+R instead of more expensive Verbatim DL+R is needed for this picky game. :-)

When you were trying to 'crash' your wiikey, did you let the 1.9b flash complete %100? If you did that is why you see the 001 error message.

If so, then flash upto g and turn off the console at like %70 into the update and try again with your original.

So I guess it's safe to say either Memorex DL+R or Verbatim DL+R will work in your Wii if burned at 2.4X. Specifying a Layer break seems to be 50/50.

Have some patience, you should be searching for answers yourself while waiting, instead of waiting for help to magically fall out of the sky; plus every unecessary post hinders those that can't cope with a mere 100page thread..

From what I've read if you have a PAL Wii and are trying a NTSC version of the game (or vice versa) letting it update your Wii will brick/semi-brick the thing.

I've seen a tool out there which will remove the update from the game. So you'd have to rip it to your computer, apply this 'rip' to it and burn it back to a DVD DL+R. And before playing it you'd also have to update your Wii via Internet on the console itself.

... my 2 cents ;)

My suggestion to you is:

1. Update your Wii via the Internet on the console (no game inserted)
2. Insert Free Loader
3. When Free Loader stops, insert Game

Should the game ask you to update, I wouldn't allow it to unless someone can confirm nothing will happen. If the game DOESN'T ask you to update you're home free! ;)

Please post your results as it may help someone else.

I can't crash my Wii with the 1.9g or 1.9b because after the testing I get an error for that thing too...

Has anyone had any problems using the recovery disc after they corrupted their wii?

When I first pulled the plug right at 70%, the machine wouldn't allow me to insert more than one disc. It just shoots them right back out. I have to power down the whole thing in order to insert another disc.

I got SSBB to work just fine. But now, I'm trying to recover it. I burned the 1.9 recovery disc to dvd and have done the following:

1) Power on the system
2) Insert recovery disc
3) Press Reset
4) Wait 5-10 minutes
5) Power off the machine
6) Turn it back on

...From what I've read, this should successfully take care of the problem. But it isn't working. Now, I can only play the original games. Back-ups no longer work. Any help please?

Yes, it will prompt you to allow the update or not.
