Im using imgburn, burning at 2x on memorex dvd dl +R.
The operation succeded, and I burned 2 copies, 1 with a layer break, and 1 without.

When I insert the disk in my wii, it doesnt even come up in the channel screen, it just comes up as unreadable.

I have 1.9 wiikey with my wii updated to 3.2 us. It is a us console and every copy ive made has worked on the first try.

any suggestions?

open your iso with regionfrii and make sure that its a ntsc game and not a pal game. Or did you rip it yourself? Either its a different region or your burner doesn't work that well with the media you are using.

PAL Wii, 3.2E

Wiikey 1.9g

TDK discs.

Burnt one at 4x and one at 1x, using the linebreak. They both work fine as long as i set my Wii to 50Hz mode (doesn't make sense but it works).

Sometimes the game will become choppy, but a reset or two fixes it.

I got no idea, I got the same problem. I think it's the animation from squirtles' B attack and marios' Down + B attack, there's a pokemon that does the same animation and freezes it, so if you want to avoid it, turn pokeballs off. Also, the move won't freeze the game as often if you are playing on a stage from melee.

I still can't get this to work I've tried everything except different media. I've tried different speeds and with and without layer break. I don't know what else to try. I have about 7 Memorex D/L coasters. Any help would be appeciated. I have a Canadian ntsc Wii and i'm using Super_Smash_Bros_Brawl_USA_Wii-WiiZARD.
Thanks

You don't say what chip and what firmware or the firmware of your Wii. Assuming you are on a chip and Wii that is fully updated and the only thing you haven't tried is other media then that is logically your next step. If you get to the point where everything fails then it would suggest your machine can't read DL as is, and needs sending back to Nintendo or you can consider the lens adjustment trick that is mentioned on page 108.

If you don't have a wiikey in then you can test the proper original SSBB to see if your wii is can read DL ok.

I have burned the japanese version of brawl, and ran the update on it to give my wii duplicate channels. I am currently downloading the Wiizard DL ISO.
shall I run the update? Will it give me quadruple channels? Or should i do the PPF patch, or should i do the 15% trick?
help!

Does the retail version work cos that narrows down your problem to the actual backup?

If you have USA Wii then just leave it. If you have PAL then PPF to ensure no further problems - Not heard of 4 extra channels myself tbh...

So what is the final word on Wiikey 1.9g and layer breaks? Is it needed or not? I have one more disc left and I don't want to screw it up.

I haven't set the manual layer break and as yet no problems. BUT - there is no "final" word as far as I know. Seems to be one of those factors where if it works for you then that's about all you can say - no fixed rule.

so I seem to be having issues, like everyone else and it's just frustrating. I've tried the wiizard USA iso, I have an ntsc wii with 3.2u on it and 1.9g wiikey. I tried setting the layer break manually on imgburn, and burned the iso. The game shows up in my game channel, and it gets to just past the loading screen, and then it will give me the cannot read disc, consult manual. Something I'm doing wrong? I'm burning on verbs dl.

ok I have a NTSC Wii (first generation), 1.9G, 3.2U, WiiKey. I have about 7 coasters now, half of them TDK, half of them Memorex. I've tried burning Nero and IMGBurn /w Layer Break with all of them getting Disk Error once I try to load up the game. I've tried burning the discs on three different computers, one desktop PC with an NEC DVD burner and two Sony Vaio laptops. Anyone have any suggestions?

As for a new update beyond 1.9G for the Wiikey...

Does ANYONE even know if it is being worked on, or are we all needlessly waiting for nothing?

I would rather know now that the Wiikey team is DOA and that we all need to get a kill switch or look at another mod chip.

What's the word out there folks???

My BAD, I just posted it in the correct thread...

Off topic tbh - this thread is about SSBB. (Nobody knows about the future of wiikey just like they didn't yesterday and the day before etc....)

Hey, I've been trying to get this game to work but I haven't had any luck. My wii is modded with Cyclowiz and up to date with 3.6 beta. My first attempts were with Fujifilm DVD+R DL which didn't give me any good results, just the same error in the dashboard, either the one with the question mark, or a black screen that comes up giving me pretty much the same message - that it can't read the disc, or its "dirty". I exchanged those for the same kind(they wouldn't let me exchange for other ones) and same thing. I now bought Memorex DVD+R DL's and they seem to be working better than the Fujifilms but I still get the black error screen saying the disc might be dirty. I have tried the Dual Layer Test and put in a bunch of movies and they all passed AND I've tried my cousin's actual game that he bought from Best Buy, and it worked perfectly... I don't know what I should do, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. : All my single layer games (including Super Mario Galaxy) work perfectly.

I would like to let you guys know that I attempted to use a retail version with on my wii: latest updates 3.2u? and wiikey 1.9g firmware.

I used the method to 'disable' the wiikey by cutting the power during the update process using the 1.9g update. It did not work.. I attempted it several times.

Finally I tried the same process using the 1.9b firmware, it worked.

I am not sure if doing this worked for anyone else using 1.9g update but it did not for me.

1.9b did though, and I am happy playing SSBB

Correct. You have to update it with a firmware other than the one you have. If you have 1.9g, you have to update it with 1.9b (otherwise you aren't corrupting anything).

I can confirm now that I have mine working 100%. No issues at all. No framerate issue, not lag, nothing.

1.9g Wiikey. 1st Gen Wii with 3.2U (loaded from internet). Wiizard NTSC USA SSBB. Burned at 2.4x on Verbatim DL media. No manual layer breaks, and no wii brick blocker (I did that first and it removed a necessary update).

First I loaded the newest firmware by doing a system update, then I put in my disc. It asked me to do another update, I said yes, and then I played for 10 hours.

For all thoses d2c pal wii out there the game must be layer break ALSO for ppl who are experience the squitle and mario freeze ur wii must be set to 60hz else u will freezeeee no current fix for 50hz atm.

I used TDK disk i find that my burner burns the tdk alot smoother while my verbatim disk sumtimes recieve cannot read error while playin (althought this might not be the case on ur burner).

Now i got one problem left i cant solve i cant seem to find anyone on the wifi random matchs, ive heard alot of ppl is experincing this problem too.

hey people, i have been trying hard to get the game to work on my wii first gen (pal) with wiikey 1.9g and firmware 3.2E using verbatim dvd+r DL discs but nothing has gone right. I followed the guide on gbatemp, but wiibrickblocked it just to make sure, and after burning with imgburn on layerbreak put it in my wii. It came up in the disc menu and i went into it, This is where the problem starts. After going into the game the screen goes black and the wii mote turns itself off and i need to hold the power button on untill it turns off. I have tried freeloader which didnt work. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance
