Yeah that's why the biggest gripe wiikey owners have at the moment is the lack of a fix so they can run brawl original and also why many are installing switches to disable wiikey in order to facilitate the playing of the original. My cousin has a rocking horse that can actually sh.... :)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OK HERE IS THE DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to the Cyclowiz website and apparently the laser problem is actually very prevalent.

If you get dry ticks and a black error screen saying eject the disc your laser is probably incapable of reading dual layer discs and so you must open up your Wii and set your Laser POT to around 600 ohms

If you want to test your laser before you do the laser POT mod, get the Dual Layer Test from Cyclowiz HERE

You need to burn it to a regular DVD insert it into your wii, then put in a dual layer DVD, press reset to test your laser

TO MOD YOUR LASER
First open up the Wii
You need a MULTIMETER- IMPORTANT - DONT DO IT BY GUESSING IT IS VERY SENSITIVE! connect the multimeter to the corners of the little thing thats indicated by the arrow in THIS image of the drive and the resistor.

1 - Open your wii - Remove the Metal Jacket on the Top so you can see your drive

2 - Unscrew the drive with the 4 corner pins

3 - Remove the Flat cable and the White bundled cable connected to the underside of the drive

3 - Flip it Over (You should see your cyclowiz here)

4 - Carefully remove all ribbons connecting to the bottom portion of the drive, the one on the right you just pull out, the one on the bottom you move the brown clip thing up to remove the ribbon cable. Also remove the piece of black tape and unplug that ribbon aswell.

5 - There are 2 Screws holding this metal plate down, unscrew them

6 - There are 2 sets of cables held down with clips one set of 2 cables on the left and 1 set of 4 cables on the right, carefully remove them from the clips.

7 - Now Flip this connection plate over, this plate is the one that has your cyclowin on it. also be carefull with yout upgrade switch cables on the chip, caus if you pull too hard and damage it yeah...

8 - Now you should see a Metal Plate with 1 screw on it, unscrew it, there are also 4 "clips" on each corner of this metal plate, unclip them with a small flat head screwdriver. Hake sure you dont bend this metal plate.

9 - Now on the left side under this plate, there will eb a small screw looking like thing, this is the POT that you will need to adjust.

10 - Your Multimeter goes 1 on top of this and 1 on the Bottom. The bottom seems to have 2 pins and the top only seems to have 1. This will take patience and a small point tip on your multimeter. Set it in Ohms at the 200 setting.

11 - By Default this should read Anywhere between 750 to 900

12 - Turn it 1/8th of a turn at a time untill you hit about 600, this sems to be my sweet spot on 3 different Wii's. dont make this Too Low of YOU WILL DAMAGE YOUR DRIVE AND BRICK YOUR WII.

13 - Close it all up and try SSBB.

THE DETAILED GUIDE IS THANKS TO SERYSER ON THE CYCLOWIZ FORUMS

wrong. practically the whole thread is asking how to get an original to work on a wiikey. you either corrupt the wiikey firmware or add a switch to the power wire.

post a video of your cousin's wii running the original brawl disc, and then a backup without using the wiikey config disc, in a continuous shot. also, take a shot of the wii itself, so we can see if there's a switch installed.

He's the only one in the world then. I suspect its more likely that he dosent have a wiikey since wiikey is the only chip having problems with the origional disk. He probably has a cyclowiz or a wiid chip.

NTSC-U D2Ckey Memorex DL +R Imgburn at 2.4x = 1st coaster in over 3 years. It says unable to read disc.

Last time I got a coaster was from using memorex. I don't want to keep spending money for coasters.

1. Will the layer break make a difference on D2Ckey?

2. Will 2.0 vs. 2.4 really make a difference?

3. Can I or has anyone successfully put SSBB on 2 single layer discs?

See page # 99 - post towards the end about burning a single layer from the dual layer image.

Sorry PDOWNZ no clue on that - unless one is floating around to download. But I think someone would have probably posted that info in this thread.

I'd leave that off the forum - that's getting a little technical (somewhat debatable) which isn't allowed.

Hi, I have a problem. I'm using a Wireless G Router Linksys Production name: WRT54G. I'm sure a lot of people here, using the Wii, are having a problem with Lag playing it Online with smash bros. I've seen guides on how to fix it like this one (http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=928518&topic=41913059)

Now, I get lost when it says, in the FAQ to go to your settings,
I get to the settings and then the FAQ says to go to ADVANCED -> FORWARDING. But I can't seem to find ADVANCED.

I read the rest of the guide and I don't understand a lot of it, but I really wanna fix my lag, can anyone guide me through this? Damn, I feel like a noob on this, but all the guides I find on this topic, don't explain it very well.

Can someone please give me a detailed explanation on how to fix this problem with Lag on Smash Bros. Thank you very much for all your help.

I'm playing the US version by the way....

Listen - don't post rubbish in this thread. You can't prove it because nobody has done it yet - it's nothing at all to do with luck. Many are having a hard enough time trying to get the game to work without ppl posting totally misinformative stuff that might cost them time and waste their money. That is very poor indeed!

@Psycho1up
Just my 2 cents but I don't think this thread would be that long if the Wiikey had no issue w/ the original.
Plus this has been going w/ the WiiKey not playing the original since the Japan release in January.
Seems like a worldwide problem to me.

So I agree let's keep these off the forum unless you have proof to back it up.

no proof, no respect. prove that your cousin's wii w/ wiikey works with both original brawl and any backup, and this will be dropped; NO RERUNNING CONFIG DISC. pics won't do; must be a continuous video.

luck has nothing to do with it. it's a problem with the wiikey itself.

if you can't backup what you post, then don't post it at all.

Hey, I burned a few discs and the last one I burned seemed to work for a while, but now I get an error message after I click Start.

MOD Chip: WiiKey 1.9G+B
Region: NTSC-U
Firmware: 3.2U

3rd Try: Semi-Success
Media: Memorex DVD+R DL
Layer Break: Yes
Write Speed: 2.4X

What should I do? Rewrite at a lower speed?
