It's the one with the green text stating that the wii is unable to read the disc. I currently have the 3.2U version Wii and 1.9s version for my wiikey. It is an NTSC wii so I didn't use layerbreak and when I burned it at 4x with Imgburn, it gave me this message. Also, I'm using verbatim dvd+r DL and the NTSC .iso file I'm using is 7.46gb from wizard. From what I'm reading, this should be working. I will try 2.4x and see what happens but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can somebody please tell me what they think? I've since used Memorex DVD+R DL's with 2.4x and 4x with the same results. Also, the original plays fine.

Thanks for the prompt reply btw.
Here's a link to Ninty that deals with it...

Hmmm....don't think I really want to go down that route cos even if I remove the wiikey prior...I didn't take a note of which screws were which and (I think) I buggered one of the threads and I have about 4 screws and 4-5 white sticker pads left over...lol!!

The fact that it reads *some* of the time makes me wonder if maybe I should open up see if some of the left over screws could affect stability of the DVD drive (I know...I'm scarily dangerous/useless/incompetent...tick all that apply).

What's interesting - if it is read problems - is that Rabids 2 only errored once just recently after the wiikey was installed. No issues with that game prior (and it worked after the last reboot process).

Updating my original post....it would appear the read error on both Rabids and SSBB are related to the problematic read errors people are getting in general. Game booted first go today so 1.9s has done its job.

Is this the real dirty lense problem or it is the Laser POT problem that some said here a while ago ?

Almost every one in this forum has modded Wii so sending Wii back to Nintendo is no option. We have to figure out how to deal with it.
If I know for sure it is the laser POT problem, I may open my Wii and adjust the variable resistor myself.

BTW: I have both versions Jap and USA and both discs (on Memorex+DL) worked 90%. Fot the USA version, I get the green screen on certain movies in the susbpace emissary while the Jap version gave me green screen on other parts of the game.

Please advise

Hi.

I have updated my wiikey to 1.9s and my retail brawl (NTSC-U) now does read. But it is asking me to update (I have a Australian PAL wii). I had a fake version of japanese brawl bore that and did the 20% cut off power trick and it worked with no duplicated channels.

So what should I do now? I have a Australian PAL console. Should I run the hole update? (my wii is the latest firmware (we just got a update for wiiware coming soon)) or should I do the 20% trick again? or should I just start it and end it right away as my console already has the dual layer update software from the Japaneses version?

Please tell me asap as I am dieing here :D

Try and update online to 3.2 and then just play the game or use the new 1.4 config to disable updates on your wiikey and play the game.

Region Override prolly doesn't need to be on to play SSBB if it's patched to PAL etc.

For me,
this is what i did:

1 - I did the update and took it out at 70%

2 - I put in the SSBB US.It loads it but after the Now Loading.... My TV turns all black but the Wii is still running or it sometimes says in green:

An Error has occured, please eject the game disk and turn the Wii Off ta ta ti ta ta...

Or it always say Now Loading....

3 - I decided to recover the Wiikey to disable it again.(because to play SSBB US you have to Disable the Wiikey right?)

4 - I popped in the Wiikey Recover disk when my Wii was On then i pushed reset then waited for 1.5 min.( I got my recovery Disk from:

http://www.teambadattitude.co.uk/wii/wii...over.padded.zip

I think is the right recovery disk.)

5 - But when I put in SSBB US and it works.(that means i din't recover the Wiikey cause i Can play SSBB US)

6 - I tried to Play SSBB US and for no readson it works.0.o

But why do I have to do the recovery disk before playing SSBB US.

Please help me.

Thanks in Advance (^o^)

ok ppl with problems getting the disk to load, listen up!

I couldnt for the life of me get my wii to recognise the DL disk. I burned several copies and nothing worked. I tried memorex and a couple of other brands, did a layer break, and didnt do the layer break. Nothing worked. I was told I would have to fix the laser.

However, I borrowed a Blank Verbatim DL DVD and everything worked perfectly on the first try.
So anyone having probs getting the wii to read you disk, make sure to try specifically the DL Verbatim made in Signapore disks, before assuming you have to change the ohms in your lazer!

Here is my question. I have browsed through a lot of different pages of this threads and it seems this method works for this guy might not works for another guy. However, mine is the Japanese Wii, which has been semi-bricked and got fixed by installing a new firmware of Wii-Fit. Now I still got dual channels. However, here comes my question, I would like to play the US SSBB. However, if I update my wii to 3.2J and then when I insert the US SSBB and it asks me for another update. If update again, will it brick my wii or semi brick my wii? Since I already get double channels, I do not care about this shit that much. Sooner or later, the guy will come up with a complete channel remover, so basically I don't care dual channel and what I care about is wholly brick my wii or semi brick my wii if I update the 3.2 US firmware to the already update 3.2 JP firmware.

Another success story. I had posted that I could play on my Wii but my girlfriends Wii modded from Bolivia wasn't working with the same Memorex dvd+r DL that worked on my Wii. I have no idea what modchip she has installed as I have not opened her Wii. My dvd5 Jap SSBB didn't work on her wii either but it was because her Wii doesn't read Jap games(Had to burn her a USA copy of House of the Dead because the Jap one wouldn't work).
I went online and saw how to convert the Wiizard dvd9 to dvd5. I wiiscrubbed it, then i edited it with trucha signer, burned it with IMGburn, and it worked. It has both Solo and Group mode, except that in Missionary Subspace, all the movies are replaced with the intro movie. If anyone wants to try it the way i did it, pm me.

seeing that i have a PAL wii, 1.9s and a [NTSC-PAL] SSBB (which is only 4.7GB oddly enough), does this mean i can still burn it onto a single layer disk and have it run normally?

And one more thing, does dev mode need to be on or off?

Thanks in Advance

SSBB is 3.1 so no brick if you @ 3.2J.

It's not the full game - it's a rip for single layer disks so whilst it might work in general it can't play all the movies from the DL and some modes might be missing. I dunno cos I've never looked closely at that version. Dev mode off in general...

Yo, any way to put brawl on 2 SL discs? Im wondering because i have no cash flow and dont have DL discs.... feed back would be kewl :D
doesn't really work that way. so "no", for now.
i read some thing about a guy using a multi rar ... he didnt further explain though.... care to enlighten me?
not quite for the reason you're proposing. that was referring to someone who needed to move it to another (better) computer to burn. he already had the full iso. so they were telling him to multi-rar it to two files so he could put the them on data DVDs simply to move it to the next computer. at that point he would recombine the two rar files to recreate the original 8+GB iso file. (which would then be burned on a DL disc.)
ok thanks, i understand now. To bad that couldnt work though .. turning it into a multi disc game .. 1 disc single player the other multi :D
I have heard that you can use WiiScrubber to get the full version in one SL DVD. However, I believe the adventure mode won't work, but it's a good way to be able to play versus mode if you only have SL DVDs.
as i do the scrubber .. what sections do i take out that are not needed .. i just want the multiplayer... im then going to make an other with just single player... if you have done this a run down would be awesome.
I was able to test this and confirm that it works on SSBB (although I'm sure it's already been confirmed previously).

Here is what to do to get Brawl working on a Single Layer DVD...

1. Obtain a copy of the full DVD 9 version of Brawl.

2. Obtain a copy of WiiScrubber. You can find it here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=1863

3. Obtain a copy of key.bin (I won't give a link to it as I believe it can get me and the forums in trouble, but you can definitely find it on newsgroups and maybe torrents. Just look around.

4. Make sure you have WiiScrubber and key.bin in the same directory (make sure they are both in the same folder) as WiiScrubber won't open unless you have key.bin

5. Run WiiScrubber and click "Load ISO"

6. Find the SSBB iso on your computer and open it.

7. You should now see a bunch of stuff such as "WII DISC", "partition00", "partition01", etc.

8. You do not have to open any of that stuff. Simply click "Clear and Save ISO"

9. The program will not overwrite the DVD9 version, it will make a second .iso file for Brawl. This means you don't need a copy of the DVD9 version since you will have one when the program is done scrubbing. This also means that you will need to make sure there is at least 4.5GB available for the new iso.

10. Once the program is done, take the new iso and burn it like normal on a regular DVD.

Hopefully this helps some people who just want to get started on the versus mode and can wait on the one player adventure mode.
So seeing that i am downloading a torrent for SSBB and it says in brackets [DVD5] [Scrubbed] so does this mean that it has been done with the above method?

The duplicate channel remover is not quite safe. Why I say that? Cuz when you run it once, you won't be able to update any of the firmware anymore. Hence, you have to wait for the channel remover developer to create the new one that allows you to update, which is an unsure journey.

You need to read the info properly. You can update the firmware - you clearly don't understand what the dupe remover actually does.

Ok, I was able to get my SSBB ISO working but now I have a problem.

I burned the SSBB and did the update from the disc. Everything worked fine, then I started the game. It gave me a disc read error so I ejected it and put it back in and it loaded to the movie and gave another error so I ejected again and put it back in. After that everything was perfectly fine.

Then I tried to play the game and got the same disc cannot be read error and ejected and put the game back in but the error didn't go away this time.

Can anyone help me? Do I have to update to 1.9s? I have a 3.2U system with the Brawl update right now.

SSBB runs on 1.9g and 1.9s. I see no reason why ppl don't go to 1.9s myself. The main fix in 1.9s is for Original SSBB but who knows? It may help some media compatability with backups.

Here is my Story:

1. Chipped my PAL Wii with an argon chip

2. Downloaded Japanese DVD9 Brawl

3. Burnt it on Verbatim +DL with layerbreak.

4. Updated to 100%, got Duplicate Channels. Game WORKED!
-However, Mario and squrlile water glitch, and cinematics glithces

5. Shortly after US release of Brawl, i downloaded the Wiizard DVD9 version of the game.

6. PPF Patched the game.

7. Burnt on a Verbatim +DL with layerbreak

8. Worked well, without giving me another update prompt. However, still the mario water gun glitch, and slow/crashing cinematics.

9. I borroed my friends version of twlight princess, and ran the duplicate channel remover to remove the duplicate channels made before.

P.S. I burnt the game with a "TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552U" DVD writer. Both games have to be restarted several times to give playable FPS.

Wii Laser problem? or DVD problem?
