I download Brawl from a torrent site called GamesTorrents (www.gamestorrents.com) and it was compressed and the extracted version is 7.92 GB. I then tried burning it many times using Imgburn version 2.4.1.0. The first time, i did it at 2.4x and there was an error. The second time, i did it at 2x, but at about 20-40%, it got stuck and it stopped burning. The third time, i got really tired of it and i decided to use NTI CD & DVD maker at 2.4x (2x) and it burned comepletely, but on my Wii, The game did not start and the disc channel didnt change. Im sortof really desperate as this is actually a huge waste of Dual-Layered Discs. Please, someone, help me.
BTW: I'm using Verbratim DVD+R DL's with no luck.
I have a wasabi chip
fwiw, I wasted several verbs burning this damned game and it wouldn't load.....I put it on memorex and it loaded and played just fine....kinda weird since verb's are the creme de la creme....oh, and I used a layer break
I don't Usenet, it uses me.

hello guys, I have a us wii modded with d2ckey.
I have burned wiizard ssbb us version with imgburn 2.4.0 at 2.4x speed without layer breaker using memorex DVD+R DL.
I got it loaded at the first insertion(no prompt update) and after I started it ,I was required to create the save data.It then turned white after the saving was done(probably intro). What's wrong with this?Should I do the layerbreaker?
I have one verbatim dvd+r dl left,is there any way to make it work perfectly? I have wasted 1 verbatim and memorex :(
Help me out guys! What should I do with the verbatim dvd+r DL?
Should I do the layerbreak? I heard people say this earlier if the region of ssbb is the same as the wii's region, it is not necessary to do the layerbreak.
Wii US version
D2ckey
SSbb wiizard NTSC US
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I've gone through this forum to find out exactly what I needed to burn SSBB but it's still not working.
Wii US version (I think D2C2 chipset)
D2Pro9 V2
SSBB (Wizard version)
Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (made in Singapore)
I tried burning it once with the layer break and once without the layer break and my Wii won't recognize the game at all. I need help.

I have the latest d2c2 with d2pro9 v2 and 3.2u and an NTSC system. The SSBB backup only started to work on mine after I did the system update from the SSBB disk. Before you make the update, use a program to check the type of disk (NTSC or PAL). If yours matches the type, then go ahead and update, but make sure you have the lastest firmware.
I did the Utility Disc v1.4 upgrade (don't know if that helped).
I tried wiibricker to remove the update but the game didn't work.
Only the update worked for me, however, sometimes I get a message "Error reading disk," so I just eject the disk and put it right back in. Then it works. Anyone know how to get rid of that problem?

I am trying to get SSBB NTSC-USA version to work on 3.2J Wii with Wiikey 1.9s that have never played SSBB Jap version yet. there are many suggestions as to how to make SSBB USA version to work. Some of them include running SSBB Jap version first and getting its software update and then WBB the SSBB USA version ( but this requires over 16 GB of data so it is not very convinient.) another one said to do Prophet's method and it would work fine . the more I read on, there are many more methods that JAP Wii owners swore by...
can anybody tell me what is the most convenient way to play USA SSBBB on my 3.2J Wii with wiikey 1.9s?

This thread has too many pages so I have a question, after reading a couple, to all the people with 'success stories', can you play ssbb at 60hz?
Mine works:
Argon v1.8 Pal Wii
Used Wii brickblocer first
Img burn x2 speed, layer break.
Verbatim DVD +R dl
The screen goes blue when on 60hz, otherwise 50hz is like 80% perfect.

Hey I see alot of people getting frustrated by asking the same questions over and over and people shouting back, how about someone stick a thread like a Q&A with all the things that are the best things to do, then add to it as the discussion generates new successes. I have read all 120+pages and well quite frankly I am still in the dark.
My main problem now is that I am lost when it comes to free dump, does anyone have an exact batch file that would work with my setup

I originally posted this in the wrong place and it was suggested i copied it here
Here is my successful rip of my new SSBB
Hey guys I am only new here not really that proficient with computers but after reading every word of the threads I decided to back up my original copy, never played Super Smash Bros Brawl. My Wii is an early model with latest Wii key installed and version 3.33 software. SO to me while it looked complicated I also thought it was a pretty straight forward process. I have a nearly new dual core PC with a LG GSA-H55N burner and an LG 8163B DVD ROM.
SO I took my pristine disc Australian Pal version and loaded it into the LG 8163. I had already downloaded the following programs
Frii Dump 0.4
Image Burn ver 2.4.1
So I started by following the instructions as set out in the thread (first page by sld87 ...thanks man...I made a few mistakes trying to get the cd\ to change but it worked.
Frii dump started and took exactly 9 hrs and 1 minute a long time if ur waiting but not so long if you went to the beach to watch whales on a sunny winter afternoon in Sydney.
The image file was in the Frii Dump folder called SSBB and was 7.89gb or 8,283,968 KB
I thne openend image burn 2.4.1 and left all the settings as default except speed. I set the speed to 2.4 exactly like have been suggested throughout the threads. I used a TDK DVD + R Dual Layer 2.4 Speed 8.5 gb disk.
I jammed it all in as normal into the LG GSA-H55N burner and fired it up. It buffered at full capacity for about 38 minutes with approximately another 10 minutes to verify.....i am not even sure if the verify needs to be on as I burn movies without it?. maybe someone who knows more than me....lol that wouldnt be hard.
Went downstairs at 10 30 pm the kids were playing the original game so i got them to pause save and try the backed up copy, they started playing form where they left off with the backed up copy, you would not notice any difference.
Absolute perfect copy.
A couple of things I have learned.....alwyas follow the instructions to the letter.
And I burned a couple of other games using Rawdump and Image Burn, Mario Cart and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics they too work perfectly but wait for it, I decided to go one step further and put labels on the discs, like full round labels, they were perfectly fitted but the Wii rejected the discs didnt even want to load them so I had to remove the labels and now they work fine.
I would hate to think anyone went to all this trouble and thought they had a corrupt disc when its only the label causing the problem.
Anyways I'm off to burn some more of our original games and then lock the originals away in the safe..
Cheers

Hi Guys I find that if you actually keep the folder open that the disk is supposed to load into it will appear when you start the rip. Otherwise I can safely say Frii Dump saves the file with the exact name e.g. Super Smash Brothers. Brawl well at least it did for my Australian Version Pal Game. So I would simply do a search on the name
or search for .iso files
Hope that helps

As is clearly stated in the threads dual layer discs run best at 2.4 times speed, i left all image burn settings at default (the layerbreak is set at calculate for optimal for dl disk) and yes if it burns properly then it should not affect your Wii, you can always use region free if you r not sure to change the region and you could also use wii Brick blocker to remove the updates. I have not done either with my new copy and it all seems to work fine.
Cheers
