k-lite mega codec pack is the best.
Have you refreshed and updated TVersity? You can either set it to auto update your folders or you can manullay update it yourself.
Once you add content, you must refresh TVersity.

ok, ill give the codec you recommend a try. also do you know of a way i can up convert the quality of the media? when i stream 3rd rock from the sun it looks black on the left and right and the picture is in the middle like a 720p movie. i would like to know if i can upconvert the quality in a software program to upconvert the quality and make it sharper before i stream across the network

Make sure you uninstall the previous codec packs before installing k-lite.
Have you tried pressing triangle on the PS3 and selecting picture size?
Depending on the source of your movie, it may not be agood idea to upconvert.
If it is a straight dvd rip, then yes, you could resize and upscale through AVISYNTH, i suggest using XVIP4PSP if your new to encoding video, or if you know your way around movie encoding, use MeGUI.

hello: thx

no i am totally new to encoding video. i made a backup of the disk on my hard drive and then streamed it but it loks not as good as if i just put it in the ps3 and let it do the crappy job it does to upconvert . i want to find a way to perfect it as best it can . i have a 500gb hard drive 80 is free space at the momment.

questions :

which of all is the best to take a dvd and upscale at its best for the tversity and 54g wireless router??

should i encode to ps3 format and then upscale ?

how long does it take to upconvert say a 2hour movie ??

can it be 720p or even 1080p??

i have battle star galactica s4 e1 !!! at 720p , but the ps3 when streaming say " data corrupted" can it not read the 720p files and it is at 1.07gb in size. ?????????

p.s. i just did the latest ps3 web update ***

i found a ffdshow upconvert guide but the playback is sloe and i am not sure what to change to make the playback better and the media sharper. i posted the url http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=422992

any possible ideas guys ?? outside of the changes i had no idea what i was doing lol felt like i was learning to read again.

FYI, I tried to upscale a DVD using Nero Recode... it didn't work. I used the Cinema AVC profile (720p) recoded to h264 mp4. I ran that file through media info and the resolution was still 720x480p... not 1280x720p like I was hoping.

Hope this helps.

If your Battlestar Galactica is a mkv file you should remux the use tsMuxeR and remux to m2ts. Get tsMuxer here: http://www.smlabs.net/tsMuxer/tsMuxeR_1.7.4(b).zip

It's real simple, load the mkv file in tsMuxeR, it will display the raw video/audio files. Highlight the video file, check "change AVC level" and make sure it is 4.1 or lower... or else it will not play. Make sure the m2ts radio button is selected then "start muxing".

If you're using TVersity to stream you must rename the file from m2ts-->m2t or else TVersity will not recognize it. This whole process takes minutes because there is no re-encoding involved.

If you're trying to up-convert a DVD the PS3 does that, just burn the movie to a DVD. Blank DVD's are getting cheaper and cheaper nowadays.

I'm not aware of any software that does this, but then again I tried only once (Nero Recode) with no success.

Right click on your file, select rename. Most likeley the name (not the extension) will be highlighted, leave that part alone. Change the extension from m2ts to m2t. It should give a warning, press OK or ignore it.

During the muxing process, before you hit "Start Muxing" in tsMuxer try to rename there, change m2ts-->m2t. See if that works.

To be honest I've never had to change the extension before as I have really never used TVersity, although I heard that is the most easiest fix and it has worked for some people. I use Cyberlink Media Pro and I have never had a problem with it.

MKV isnt a format dude its a container.... kinda like.... rar or zip... but it follows a primary stream, you will have to use vdubmod to demux and remux it into an avi.

and yes it does support x264... make sure you turn off all the transcoding settings in tversity though because ps3 can natively run xvid dixv and h264 encodes and tversity re-encodes everything
