You dont need to be connected to cable.
The 10057 error is a connection problem.. the 500c is looking for a specified ip address which is wrong.
With DCC you should have a green connection image and with DreamUp text in the box telling you are connected to the 500c
With the DCC you need a router or cross-over cable then ask the program to find the ip address of your 500c.
Null modem, the correct com port.

It's been months since I've had to do this but, from what I remember, don't even connect (via cable) your box to PC until Dreamup requests you to 'turn on'.
Thanks for your reply have also done as requested but to no avail thanks again.

Again, I'm working from memory - but, as I said earlier, do not even connect your box via cable to PC: wait until Dreamup requests that you 'switch on' box and only then plug in the connecting cable - wait a few minute or two and you should be then able to click 'Flash' etc.. Good luck.

Berkat.. im assuming you that when you dreamup it recognises the box is a dm500. but then says waiting for acknowledge and sits for ages. If this is so the i suggest you try different versions of dreamup.

If this still doesnt work then you may find that the cable you have is not a null modem cable that is suited to these boxes.

As i have recently found out a simliar cable will be able to tell what type of box you have but may not be able to communicate(speak) to the box as the series of the wires within the cable are different.

Let me know what its saying.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but an RS232 cable is a straight thru serial cable and is not a null modem cable, which is what you should be using.

Hi,

I have recentley purchased a dreambox 500c, i already have Virgin Cable in england. i do not know how to install it. I read on the site about installing images and flash etc etc. Yet im pretty much in the dark about everything. All i have done is get the box out plug in the cables and switch it on. When it searches it cannot find any channels so i am doing something wrong or havent done something.

If somebody could help my on how to install it from scratch i would be most appreciated.

Same old tutorial from 20 pages ago!

1. You will need relevant software so that your box can be fixed properly.

Dream up, Flash Wizard. Dreambox Control Center. Extract the file and autorun the program. A small box will appear with the relevant software.

http://rapidshare.com/files/109770655/DreamboxForEver.rar.html

2. Now you need this image i have FULLY WORKING! This is a flash wizard file and need to be flashed through the flash wizard program or through Dreamup . PLACE THIS IMAGE ON YOUR DESKTOP. EASY TO FIND.

Flash Wizard Image:

http://rapidshare.com/files/110539401/dwemptyautoroll.fw2.html

Null Modem Image:

http://rapidshare.com/files/110539456/dwemptyautoroll.img.html

3. Now that you have downloaded the WORKING IMAGE. Connect to your dreambox via DCC. You will need your Dreamboxes ip address for this. If you do not have it and have an image already on you box. Go into the setup, expert, communications. Your ip address will be in here.

4. Once you have connected to the dreambox. Open Flashwizard. Go into configuration and ultilies at the bottom of the box. Make sure the ip of the dreambox is the same as the one in dcc. It should be. If not change it.

Now Click Install a Firmware to flash memory. Now you will need my WORKING IMAGE. You downloaded above. Click the open folder tab. Browse for the image. Should be on your desktop as instructed above. Click open.

The image should now be visible in the box.

Now click flash image backup. This will install the image to your box.
Takes approx a minute.

Once completed reset the box. PLug into ur tv. And try.

It should now show that the flash is installed.

Do the scan using your area. For example Uk or ntl ie etc.

Once the scan has finished check your channels. TRY SS1 FIRST. If you dont have the channel. Reboot box. This time the evocam should startup and will roll the channels.

This is the simplest way to install this image. If this doesnt work or you have problems connecting to your dreambox you will have to go down the null modem route. Please leave me a message if you have problems with this.

Null Modem Fix:

You will need a program called dreamup.

http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/download/DreamUP.zip

Then download the image. The null modem one. Save this to desktop.

You need to plug the null from the box to pc.

With the dreambox switched off start up dreamup program.

Then untick use network box. Then click connect. Startup the dreambox.

It will connect. The flash box will then open. Click this it will ask for image. The image you downloaded open that. Then it will flash the image to your box. If asked to flash erase click NO!

When you scan for channels if the locked channels do not show press blue and start the evocam.

Anyone having problems following this tutiorial need to slow down a bit and stop getting over excited.

People are making simple mistake by rushing things.

Thankyou

Chris

Hi All,

Have been reading through your advice here and it's a been a great help in aiding me to setup my 500-T box.

I've flashed the dwemptyautoroll.fw2 firmware and got the box working now but it's only displaying 5 or 6 channels. The rest are scrambled. I've looked at my keylist.txt file and it's blank, I know it should have some info here, but what's the most current data? Should it update automatically? I have my box connected to the internet if that helps?

Forgot to mention I'm on C***** in Ireland if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for any help

P

You need to do a scan under your correct area.

Chorus ireland is in the list when asked to scan transponders.

Hi Chris,
I'm wondering if you can help me please. I'm 4-5 miles outside Limerick city in Ireland and am on Ch***s MM*S Dig*tal. I have a 500t and have followed your instructions above to flash the dwemptyautoroll.fw2 image.

I do an automatic transponder scan under my area and am getting
SNR = 99%
AGC = 52%
BER = 0.

The valid transponder is found and is locked and synced.

However I am not picking up any services (channels or otherwise) when scanning. I have read through the thread and can't find anything relating to this in my area at least. I would appreciate your help....

Regards,
limebuddy
