Dreambox 500T 500C Fixes here

The way I got mine work way via DreamUp and a serial cable:
Dead simple.
Download DreamUP and the DreamUP image. I used the versions that are in this post.
1. Got to a supplier (e.g. m@plin) to buy the cable. Look on their website and use part code L68BT
2. Plug one end on the COM port on the 500C
3. Plug the other end into your PC
4. Switch off the 500C
5. Start DreamUP, untick use network. Select your com port. COM1 usually these days.
6. Press Connect
7. Powerup the 500C, you will see a message saying box connected.
8. Press flash
9. Select the DreamUp image that you downloaded earlier.
10. You will be asked do you want to erase the flash. Click No
11. It will take approx 15 minutes to copy. (go for a dump, make a brew whatever)
12. Once it has copied reboot the box
13. Press menu, go into setup.
14. Automatic Scan for new services
15. Bruteforce UK.
16. Once it has found a transponder it will ask to scan for new services.
17. Takes 15 minutes (again go for a dump or make a brew)
18. Once all the channels have scanned exit out of the menu.
19. You are now finished. Everything should be there in all it's glory.

haha love ur post Hamster08. Now we know what you get up to when you have spare time on your hands! Will try tonight and hopefully should all be up and running.
When you mean reboot the box - do you mean while its still attached to the pc or when ive set it up to the tv?

When you set it up to the tv...scan the services and transponders.
Then reboot the box after if the channels do not show.

Right people.. Im going to uplaod a fresh image to yous...will have everything intact
All you need to do is scan your area and hopefully thats it.
I will upload these within the hour.

just had an accident with my dm500c.
I set box up to flash using dreamup, & by mistake i clicked on perform flash erase(which it did).
Can anyone tell me what to do next?

So far so good, I have used Dreamup to Flash the backup.img file. I have done an automatic bruteforce scan. I now have a mix of channels that work and others that say Quote:
service not found
most channels have two similar entries, some with an ! in front of the name. Is there a quick way to remove all channels ? I can then repeat the bruteforce scan. Tidy up the bouquets and be finished.

Morning folks. Just a plea for knowledge here. I have had my box working fine with CGSCOTTS image and 2 friends asked me last night to sort out their boxes. I did them no problem but 1 of the boxes has picked up the recently added channels, ie s-y1,2 and 3 and s-y arts 1+2 and a couple of others, which my box hasnt. They are all dreamboxes. Does anyone have any clues why 1 box picks these up and 2 boxes dont. It has got me flumoxed to say the least. Thanks

Hi Ash
The image has been rar'd like winzip. You need to search for a program called WinRAR. This will allow you to extract the file you need.

i have winrar and have extracted to desktop and when i run dreamup and search for the image it doesn`t show

try restarting the emu.
press the blue button on the remote control then select ok to restart the emu

Chris I've downloaded ur new image and flashed it via flash wizard, but now I can't seem to get even the basic channels! I've tried rebooting and still nothing, where am I going wrong?

Thanks markaman. Ive tried rebooting reflashing blue button green button and throwing it from the top of the Liver buildings but it still wont pick up s-y arts 1/2 or s-y 1 2 3 (lol)
I get all the other channels no problem its the new ones that came online the other week. I cant understand it coz my mates box which I flashed from my house using the same image and cable supply is getting them. I di 2 of them on the same evening with the same techniques and his picks them up and mine doesnt. I was watching Johnny Cash last night on his on s_y arts, now I cant get it. Please does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks, Dave

On the box which has the channels you are looking for, turn on one of the channels. Go into manual transponder scan. You will see the frequency of the channel. Take a note of the frequency. Do the same for the other channels. Then on the other boxes go into manual transponder scan and enter each frequency in turn & click on search. Make sure you tick the "network search" box. Each search only takes a second.
I know its a bit long winded but that worked for me.
