Don't get me wrong, i'm all for people allowed to modify their consoles to play backups, but Blaintently downloading pirate material, users who do this should get their console banned. Now the users who buy the game and make a backup themselves, in my opinion, this is acceptable.

well if you bother to read ANYTHING on this forum at all, you have learned by now that just by unplugging the ethernet cable, your information will not be sent to MS once you get back onto live. as soon as you get onto live again, or just plug the cable in, all the information about what games you have played, how long for, and all that other crap will be sent directly to MS, so ya, go ahead and unplug the cable and assume you are safe to play.

Yep. Your gamesaves are stored. And lets look back in history.
Right before H3 -> LIVE update & down for maintanence -> bannings
Right before CoD4 -> LIVE update & down for maintanence -> bannings
Right before GTA4 -> LIVE update & down for maintanence -> ???
We'll see in the next few weeks how many are back here complaining why did they get banned and how it's not fair.

Well could I just make another gamer profile without xbox live and use that instead? and then once the game comes out i'll use my real gamer profile?

That will not work your xbox id is stored in the 360, You'll get banned. Try taking off the harddruve and unplug the internet cable. That's the only way I see not getting banned.

By doing that, you're playing a game which you can't save any checkpoints. So, if you want to have to start it all over later... go for it.
Although, it is believed by some that game disc info is stored on the 360 (not in hdd) and MS can use it to ban you. I can neither confirm nor deny it to be true.

Your gamertag isn't what gets banned, its the console itself that gets banned.

I dont mind just roaming around the streets for a while, thats what I was gonna do first anyway.
Can someone tell me then where the game info is stored then? on the hd or the console?

I saw on craigslist that someone is post that they have 4 unopened copy of GTA4 and he is selling them to the highest bidder. Think you got to be obsest w/that game like your on crack to want to buy it that early.You only have one week how desporate do you got to be.

It's believed some disc info is stored on the console. You might get a better explaination if you ask on xboxhacker.com.

Well, maybe if he has them for less than what they sell for at retail. And of course he can easily be selling copies he doesn't have yet. He can collect the money now and pick up and ship the game when it's released. I've seen sellers do it before.
But really, while there's no doubt it will be a high selling game, it's not like it will be hard to find a copy.

gee whiz I did that when the ps3s came out.
SInce I live in such a small city, the Toys R Us here never ran out.
I made a killing selling them at $800 each on ebay.
