Thanks for the replies guys. I live in block of flats and it appears the signal strength is poor. I have ordered a booster which I hope will fix the problem. The cable is sticking out of the wall next to the power sockets in the living room and its the only one I have. I don't know where it leads too. If any of you guys have any other sugestions it would be much appreciated.

Factory reset and try it at the Starview feed. If it still doesnt work, reflash and scan again.

Turn off the EV. Take out the HDD, plug it back in. Try a recording and then it will recognise the drive.

Hi lads,

Flashed many Eurovoxs before but done my first 2008 MaxV today. Flashed with no problems but when I turn it in the screen on the tv is blank (no channels tuned obviously) but no buttons on the remote will work except standby? I've tried 3 different remotes with the same result...

Any ideas?
What firmware did you flash with and where did you get the Max V?
Hi sc0user,

Hi,

I recently bought the Eurovox EX5000 PVR and am trying to flash it. I'm having trouble with the USB to RS232 adapter. I've installed the driver for it but my computer still won't recognise it. It didn't come with the driver so got it off the internet. I have windows xp.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get this working?

Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi All, I'm new to all this, and wanted to thank you guys for all the help I got from this thread, brilliant. I have a quick question. Got a EX5000 and flashed it as per instructions on page 1. Scanned for channels and got everything I need. I noticed Pay Per View channels still scrambled on N*L midlands, are these normally still locked or is there a different Firmware/Software that unlocks these. I'm not greedy and glad of the channels that I have got already, but it would be a bonus to get the PPV films and porn. Firmware used was UFL ex50001.1a. Apologies if this question seems trivial or offends.

Adult channels don't broadcast until past the watershed. PPV channels e.g. Boxing, wrestling etc, you will get when they are broadcast. V.O.D. channels e.g. Filmflex you will not receive, (well unless you are lucky and scan one in if someone in you area has ordered one), as it requires talkback. Which all these STBs dont have for obvious reasons.

Hi scouser

I have seen the post on page 1 about checking the port in device manager. There is no "port" section listed under my device manager, which I'm thinking could be part of the problem! Should there always be a port section?

Once the USB adapter is plugged in you should see it. Without getting into envirnomentals and hidden settings in XP device manager, do you know someone with a desktop? If so use this and take the adapter out of the equation. Can you show me a link of your adapter please?

I'm trying to do this on a desktop. Even when the adapter is connected no port section shows up in device manager. Here's what the adapter looks like- http://www.satandcable.co.uk/s/images/USB_To_Serial_Adapter.jpg. Is it most likely to be a problem with the adapter or the computer? I have a laptop I could try it on but I will still need to use the adapter.

Sorry your link is dead. Why are you using an adapter on a desktop? Does it not have a D9 serial port where you can just use the null modem cable without an adapter?
