All PHAT PSP systems can be modded. If it truly is a 1000 series then it has been sitting on the shelf for a helluva long time.

So, if I just got my PSP out of the box, I just have to wait until a new version comes out, right?

I have purchased a used psp from ebay, and it is semi-dead. By this I mean, it powers on with the green power light (stays on until I remove the battery) with a black screen and no sound. And when I inserted the MMS in and the pandora battery put in, I also get a orange light (card reader) and the green light on the bottom (WiFi),but it doesn't go to the cfw screen. I know the mms and the pandora battery works because I upgraded my friend's psp before. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it and how to find it?

Just right click part 1, then choose "Extract here, Extract to Folder

It will then extract all three parts to a folder called "Univer_File"

Pandora battery problem.

When I put the Pandora battery in the PSP that I want to install CFW on, I do not get a menu, only a black screen and the green power light. I have used this method several times and have never had any problems.

My PSP:
FAT PSP with CFW 5.00 M33-2

To be hacked PSP:
FAT PSP with OFW 3.95

The only thing that I have done different is that I have updated My PSP to CFW 5.00 M33-2 and I am using a 4gig ms instead of my usual 2gig. Is there a problem with this update or the OFW 3.95 that prohibits the making or the use of the Pandora battery? I have even tried different batteries and I still get the same results.

Thank you in advance for your help.

You may have to download the part 3 again and see if you still have the same problem.
It could have been corrupted during the download.

All parts extract perfectly fine. SO it is something on your end. As smokyrain said try re-downloading the files. If that doesn't work update WinRAR.

Those having issue getting the menu up look at the trouble shooting part of the guide.

Sorry for the double post - computer problems...

Larry,
The trouble shooting portion does not talk about the problem that we are having. I did try my 2gig ms and am having the same problem. Do you have any suggestions?

All you can do is try different PC's and memory Sticks. Avoid using Vista or XP 64-BIT.

There really is nothing else that can be done. You just have to find the right combo to get it to work.

When making the MMStick the first option is the original psp fat option or something of that nature. Is that something I should try?

Follow the guide as is. The issue is either a PC or Memory Stick compatibility issue or both. How many times do I have to say this?

WOW!!
As you can see by my ranking I am not a NOOB. I am only trying to bounce different ideas off of you... I would have never even asked the question without "reading and following" the complete guide. I don't mean to offend you!!

As I stated above I have tried different memory sticks and batteries with the same ending. I have an official sony 2gig stick. I will give that a try.

I went back thru the steps again and i'm not seeing the last screen for the final install. It must be ms issue for me bro.

@dmanpsp & brobinson
Watch the back to back posts - just edit your previous post instead.

And just an fyi - I had to use a different pc to create the mms. My firewall (comodo) of all things was screwing it up.

Oh and boo Eagles :) (sorry Redskins fan so had to throw that end even though we sucked again this year)
