I used this fantastic guide and I did my PSP, works fine.
I used the same tools for my friend psp and after the Pandora menu loads and I press X I get:

Loading updater modules...OK
Formatting flash0...OK
Formatting flash1...

and it stops here!
I done again the memory stick but the same!
Please and advise will be welcomed.
Thank you in advance!!!

As I stated above I have tried different memory sticks and batteries with the same ending. I have an official sony 2gig stick. I will give that a try.
I never said you didn't read or follow the guide. You asked if you can use the first option for FAT systems. All I said was to follow the guide as is and it should work. That is if you have a campatible PC and Memory Stick.

How can you tell if you have xp 64-bit? It seems everyone I know must have one. Will this work with a pc with 98 or 2000 on it? I'm still having no luck with the instal. As I said before, the last screen shot that is on the mms guide I never see(the one before you drag and copy the add ons). Anybody else have this problem? Any more insite would be appreciated.

If you have "My Computer" showing on your Desktop, then right-click it, cllick on Properties. It will tell you if its 64-bit or Vista etc.

Otherwsise go to Control Panel, click on "system"

It doesn't say 64 bit, I thought might be talking about video card lol. I think I might have it working now. Had a friend take home and try. The guide is very awesome though. Thanks for the help everyone and thanks to larry.

There is no need to ask your question 3x. Read the troubleshooting section of the guide.

Larry,
Thank you for an awesome guide!!
After my 3rd ms everything worked fine.

For anyone else who has been following this for the last couple of days, my problem was the ms. I finally used my 2gig sony stick and everything worked fine. I notice one thing. In the guide on step 15, it says you should see an image that looks simalar to this. On the other ms I was not getting this image.

Larry - Again, thank you for all of your efforts!!

What type of ms are you using? Are you getting that image that I mentioned in step 15 when you create the Magic ms?

The guide does work. I've been having problems also with the mms and batt. turned out to be pc probs. Finally found one that works. I was having same prob as brobinson.

The prob I'm having now is converting battery back. out of the 6 options only 4 are choosable
-quit
-convert to normal mode
-convert to autoboot mode
-backup battery eeprom to ms0:/eeprom.bin

the one i'm supposed to choose according to the guide is gray and is not accessible.
-flash only serial from ms0:/eeprom.bin (no dump)
-flash full EEPROM from ms0:/eeprom.bin (no dump)

any suggestions on what to do? And thanks again for the guide. Others with probs keep trying and reading, larry knows his stuff.

Did you backup the battery EEPROM before converting it to service mode? If so make sure the Battery EEPROM is in the root of the Memory Stick and the grayed out choices (flash only serial) should be available for you to select.

If you didn't follow the guide then you could try the "-convert to normal mode" option but there could be a chance the battery will be bricked and not charge properly.

I think I followed it to the t, but could have skipped a step, how or what does it say in the mem stick if I did back it up, could I back up a different battery and fix it that way also? I do have a couple batts.

The guide says you should not use another emprom.bin to restore your battery. I will email you mine if you want to try. However, I think Larry is going to jump on here and say that is not a good idea.

go ahead and screw up the battery. you have a better chance using a generic eeprom than a different eeprom.

Yes, but make sure it is not a version 3000 mother board. I have only had luck with official sony sticks. That is not to say that others don't work.

This is not the forum for ISO, torrent questions. However, I would put your ISO in the ISO folder when complete.

Have you heard about the Gripshift buffer over flow exploit? It is currently running under the PSP-3000. CFW for the 3000 may be already be in development. The buffer over flow was used to downgrade 3.03 PSPs when pandora didn't exist by using an unpatched GTA-LCS.
