Not to really hijack the thread but for the 'unmoddable' ones is it 4.00 or 4.01 out of the box? I've seen reference to both.

There are so many posts I can't figure out what guide to use. I installed the magic memory stick software successfully.

I think I have to install the Pandora battery. I am gathering from the first posts that you install with certain steps depending on the version of psp. I may be wrong in this assumption.

Can someone please explain the rest of the steps or show me one guide that is easy to follow to complete the rest of the steps? I would truly appreciate it.

Thanks

Follow the guide. The steps are clear as day. To make the Pandora battery follow the section that represents what you have. If you have 1.50 official firmware follow that section. If you have custom firmware follow that section if you have official firmware follow that section. Why is that so hard to understand?

Because I do not know which firmware I have. How do I determine this?

This is new to me. I have helped people in the past with blu-ray converting, etc but I have never worked with a PSP.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for a great and easy to understand guide.
My problem is that the Start.exe is not recognized as an executable by my computer. I cant even get into the troubleshooting cause it does absolutely nothing on my computer.
I am running xp. Dont see what the problem could be. I did a search of the pages in here and didnt seem to see others who have this problem. Any suggestions ?

@Cortisol
If it isn't doing anything on your pc then maybe just me but I would use another one pc - (hint in troubleshooting section).

@murph99
All you need is contained in the 1st post - that's the whole guide.
The rest of this thread contains a lot of redundant questions due to people not reading the guide or doing any research.

To find you firmware - in the xmb (main screen) go to system systems then scroll down to system information. The firmware version is listed next to system software.

I did the first part. I created the magic memory stick from here:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/708959

I just do not understand what I am suppose to do next. I assume I am suppose to create the Pandora battery right? What is the next step?

Thanks for your help.

.
used another PC. got to step 4 but when asked to format (type Y ) I do and it leaves me with an absolutely blank memory card.
I try to install the univ. unbricker. and seems to be installing the files on the PC and not the memory stick.
it then stops and nothing is installed anywhere.
I am now out of PC + mem stick combos.
I dont have a vast array of PC's to try.
I guess I am S O L.

@ murph99

larrylje explained what you do in his post below yours.
Go to the "Creating a Pandora Battery" in the section of the guide on page 1.
Check what firmware you have on your psp like binkie7 explained.
Then follow the part of the guide that pertains to your firmware.

When that is done go to the Section "How to use Pandora Battery + Magic Stick"

ITs not rocket science here. If you had used this guide from start to finish you would have no problems.

@ Cortisol

Make sure you used the drive letter of your PSP

Sounds like you have Official firmware on your PSP, so you will need to buy the Datel Battery or convertor.
It says so in the section of the guide "Creating Pandora's Battery" under Official Firmware PSP.

That is why we say read the guide from start to finish.

Thank you. Does this battery work in both the slimline and the regular psp?

yeah, everone except a psp with a ta-88v3 motherboard and a psp 3000. Basically any psp that came out of the box with 4.01 is outta luck.

Great. We threw away the box. Is there an easy way to tell if the psp is a slim or fat?

When did you buy it? It's probably a slim.
What is the firmware installed on there now?

I did find this from where I bought it. Does that mean the firmware is 3.6?
