I'm almost positive it has nothing to do with the firmware. The game isn't detecting the firmware. It's the game they are detecting.

Right,
I was banned 2 days ago. I have a benq drive with either 1.4 or 1.41 I don't know. I have played many games before release including gears and cod (both online so was on leaderboards before release also). I have also played a saints row 2 review copy before release I also believe this was a seed4me release I not sure.
Oh and also I've been modded now around 6 months.
Hope this information helps, I had to buy a new xbox. Wish I was more careful and will be in the future.

There is just no way that there is just one or two copies of the games that is circulating that is coded that is causing all these problems. M$ must have realized a couple of years ago that the "chain of trust" has been broken in 360 for the last couple of years.
Is it possible that they have started tagging the new games with a unique ID validated against an MS database?
You would need a couple of things:
1. A database of all unique for every game
2. have your game manufacture encode it onto each respective game
3. have a coder create the update and push it out to your xbox to perform the validation at sign-in time.
could work... Would be difficut to coordinate and would exclude older games. They have had since May-2007 to work on it.
I dunno...

I've been trying to be careful for a while now, the first time I flshed my xbox I wasn't careful at all, and luckily I got the RROD and had the xbox replaced, and ever since hat point I've been extremely careful and so far haven't had any problems and hope it stays that way.
I think that playing review copies and playing games early is just asking to get banned.

:I tried creating a new account & it would now allow me. Used my friends account & it worked perfectly!
i got my myself a new box today, the GOW2 bundle :)....(hopefully they wont banned my NEW NON-modded box)

u said u tried ur friends account on ur box and it worked? if that is the case that sounds like ur account got banned and not ur console which would mean u did not need to buy a new console.
unless u mean u tried ur account on ur freinds box and it worked. then u did the right thing

sorry man, what i meant to say was i tried it on his box & it worked & working 120% on the new console i bought.
& i would like to add here, my other buddy just called to say that he to got banned & we both played that Saints Row 2.
So i think im going with the SEED4ME images that's getting us banned.
but hey, im just glad they didn't banned my account aswell.

Is anyone been able to play a REAL copy of World At War with a firmware flashed system without consequences?
Is it the games themselves that have some sort of spy-tool integrated?
Has M$ released an update that is reporting firmwares?
Basically... I just rented COD5 and I have an ixtreme firmware, can I play it online or will I be banned?

Does anyone know exactly what it is that they are doing to give you the hammer? Do you just get banned as soon as you try to sign in? My buddy and I both had the same copy of Saints Row 2 and he got banned on 11/11. I have been rolling the dice and signing on from time to time throuout the day since this all started and still havnt been hit. Do you just get put on a ban list with M$ and as soon as you pop in the bad game get hit or is it just random?

Have you? The majority of people who have been banned have admitted to playing multiple downloaded copies of recently released games before they were even released, as well as switching to a leaked dashboard. Others are not specifying if the game was a legit copy or if they had installed an update prior to being banned. That is what I want to know. All we can assume is all of the people on this thread were playing downloaded copies. Secondly, some are saying that this has NOTHING TO DO with flashed firmware and everything to do with playing a burned copy of a game they downloaded online, be it a poor release or newly implemented code on the games. So it sounds like a 50/50 argument. Either they're targeting the hardware or the software, or maybe even both.
My question is legitimate, and I would still like to know if people playing older games, like COD4 (copied or not), who have NOT played recent releases are still being banned. Or are people only being banned from playing new titles (copied or not), and please specify.
If I said I was banned playing COD5 on my ix1.4 sammy... That isn't usefull information at all. Was the game burned or not? Did you play something downloaded?

everyone keeps asking..."will i get banned for this or this" the answer is....find out cause no one can give you a definite answer.
so if u want to know if u will get banned then u should play and find out, if u get banned then the answer is yes, if u dont get banned then for now the answer is no. But if u have really read the whole thread then you would know better to even ask cause it has been asked 100 times and it will be 100 more

If you played a seed4 me rel just say it, if u dont know find out. If you have the dash say it.
Look at it like an Investigation, who what when where why n how, not just O POOR ME IM BANNED.
Stop it already, just the facts
4now on, I highly sugest 4those who dont use or know, TO start using AEBGX ( i think thats the name) and get used to it.
The 360 game database is the best site out there to know what games are legit or bad.

I wonder if posting locations would help?
I mean are the bans scattered or are most of them in a particular area?
Also I've been visiting other forums, maybe 6 or so including this one, and it doesn't seem like many people, I mean like 1000's, are banned considering a good chunk of the people are reporting not being banned.
Also considering torrents, p2p, bad downloads etc. if it was due to people playing with bad games then it would only be limited to however many thousands of people downloaded and actually played with those games on live right? I wonder how many that would be? Any thoughts?

Ok as of 5:45 eastern time I am no longer able to sign in on Xbox Live. Had it feeling it was going to happen today but why should we care you still can play the games offline. I just going to go with it being the downloaded copies COD5 and GOW2. We all knew the risk. I'm just cool with that fact that I was only paying month to month for their service. Well off I go to play COD5 offline. HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!

Damn It Just Been Banned This Second !!!
Facts :-
1) UK Pal 360.
2) Hitachi 59DJ Flashed with iXTREME 1.4 ( Flashed it a week before COD4 Was released so been well over a year.)
3) Was in the middle of playing Call Of Duty World At War which i first booted up on Sunday 9th November but only played online, not story mode as didn't want achievements showing up.
4) Have booted up Saints Row 2 Review release once just to see if the Burn had been successful. Have booted up GOW2 after burn to see if succesful. Have played Fallout 3 a few days before the release date but not a version which signed you out of live.
5) Always make sure my games have been mulleted before burn but not COD World At War as not in database yet.
Details of ban :-
'This Account has been banned for violations of the terms of use.......'
Status Codes
W: 0000 - 0021
X: 0000 - F001
Y: 00A8 - 6820
Z: 8015 - 190D
Hope my account hasn't been banned and really they mean the console. Can anyone shed any light on this ???/

facts-
flashed to iX 1.4 on Tues Nov 11th. Have copies of COD5 and GOW2 but have never put them in THIS console or played on xbl with them. No updated dashboard...
However, playing my burned COD4 on xbl now with no problems. Not banned yet. Will try it with my Burned Halo3...

Not Banned played GoW2 on live on 10/24 . played 007 on live 10/30? . CoDW@W 11/7 on live didn't play review copys or SR2 New Benq modded for 1.5 months 2 friends got banned 11/12 n then 11/13 one got banned during multiplayer match on CoDW@W n other signing in to XBL both played b4 release date Fallout3 n review copys modded 4 more than a yr 36Os . Many friends w/ modded 360s only 2 banned so far others afraid to sing on live just checkd my box not banned

False post on my part guys SORRY! My friends account DID NOT GET BANNED, HOWEVER HIS CONSOLE DID. So its still going ON IT HIT HIM LAST NIGHT AROUND 9 P.M.

I am still not banned as of 7:32 P.M. Est today, again I played everything early, and my friend played the SAME EXACT GAMES, IF ANYTHING LATER THAN ME? This seems very, very random.

i have a question, if u have a modded xbox 360 and just log in to xbox lives but dont play mutiplayer online game with it? will you still get ban? i think the reason why people get banned is because they play multiplayers games such as gears of war 2, and call of duty world at war. i remember last year when call of duty 4 came out, alot of modded xbox 360 players log on and started playing it multiplayer online. that's how everyone got banned. i was wise not to play some of the new games that just came out online because i knew this would happen. my xbox 360 lives is not banned, just for people who wanna know. u wont get banned if u dont play multiplayer online. you can play the old games on xbox lives and not get banned.. confirmed

Homie you are in NH? I am in Lowell. not banned with 10 or more consoles w/iexteme 1.4/1.41, never downloaded but play on line w/backups frequently, ex-wife from NH. Anyway you burn your own games? Did you burn the games your friend played who got banned? Just trying to link it to bad burns ie. yours versus your friends. Anyway let me know.
