Hey all, new to this so bare with my very newbish question. What would be the ideal compression range if you want excellent quality and still keep extras? I have read most say never to go below 60%. How noticable is the difference at 60% compaired to the original copy?
I have my new computer with a DVD burner coming at the end of the week so I havent had time to test different %ages. Thanks for any input.
ur best bet is to leave it on the default which is about 64%. i have found that different dvd's produce different results. about 1 in 20 for me produce poor quality at 64%. unfortunally its a case of trial and error for a bad dvd. shit i no but thats life. unless ne1 else can tell how to overcome. watch this space!
hope this helps
I have been using shrink for a while and I like to keep it above 70%. On some nicer tvs that I have used, when it drops below 65% I notice some more fragments.
Every DVD is a different size, that's why it's so hard to pick a number - the DVD's size dictates the amount of compression need
I once thought I was getting poor picture quality from my backup of "Scarface" - some scenes looked blurry - then I tried the original and found it to be blurry also - (The two were exactly the same) I keep the size in Shrink at 4.33GB - allowing a "touch" of gray to show at the end of the green bar. I get perfect backups consistently!
