Any comment I will appreciate it.

I just picked up a single disc widescreen copy today $30.00 for an advanced official copy and yup....this disc is loaded in the weirdest way. Looks like this disc has some sort of new structural protection. I did a search an located a thread on Slysoft forums and a forum member there post an option that sounded strange but turned out to be true. The poster says that ANYDVD 6.4.8.5 worked with NERO 8 Burning - ROM. Using these 2 programs will allow you to make a back up in a true clone like way because the copy or back-up not only transfers the movie content but the encryption too. And only to a 8.5 DL disc. Absolutely nothing else works on this disc, that I have tried (Latest CLONEDVD, DVDFAB, Last versions of RIPIT4ME, DVD DECRYPTER, SHRINK, VOB BLANKER, even when combined with NERO 8 RECODE 3). The encryption or disc when attempting to access decryption programs will drastically slow down your PC then crash or error prompt your decrypting software of choice.

Now I know some will say the older programs do not work...not true as RIPIT4ME using FIXITVTS works miracles in some cases on new complicated titles as recent as "STEP BROTHERS" and "WALL-E". I used SHRINK successfully to back up "DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN. ALL of these titles gave pay softwares like ANYDVD & CLONE trouble initially.

As the Slysoft forum poster said they think this may be the worst encryption yet. This will be a title that will have all of the popular forums buzzing once this title is officially released on DECEMBER 9th 2008. Oh yeah the NERO and ANYDVD worked just like the poster said but this method will only all allow a full 8.5 DUAL LAYER (DVD-9) back up.

the pay program never gave me trouble for any of the titles you mention N2DVD, I'm sure slysoft and dvdfab will get an update out soon to defeat the new protection on Dark Knight, they always do so hang tight till they do

Believe me this is one of the damndest approaches I've ever seen to encrypting a title (Hey we're talking about a WARNER BROS release). As for outdated freeware sometime reigning supreme, just look around at forum responses (here and others online) to "WALL-E", "STEP BROTHERS" "FRED CLAUS" "NARNIA II" & HANCOCK releases and how paidware i.e. AnyDVD, CloneDVD, & DVDFAB current versions having trouble completing full disc back ups with the most current software version available at the time.

This is not to say that paidware particularly DVDFAB doesn't normally respond immediately to correcting back-up trouble with it's software. I don't own a full version of DVDFAB and I backed up all three titles I listed here between an old 4.1.2.0 DVDFAB (Free Version) and RIPIT4ME (last known version) Not because I chose them over paidware I own like CloneDVD & AnyDVD, but because they are the softwares most receptive to completing a successful full back-up at the time. Here lately I lurk mostly reading about title trouble understanding everybody has different back up objectives and even software knowledge and skill level.

Hey everyone interested has gotta learn as they go. But upon purchasing this title I was in total shock when I discovered how the encryption on this disc worked so akwardly at haulting any and all back up possibilities without the encryption in tow. For those who have not seen what I am referring to don't let me be the one to say "I told ya"...this is a strange puppy here, and for now anyway.:)

NOTED ANYDVD PROBLEMS WITH THE TITLES MENTIONED: http://forum.slysoft.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18

I tried to back it up with ghost dvd and with shrink, also i used dvd region +css free, It didn't work for me. I will have to wait for un update of DVDFab which usually come up faster than slysoft.

There is a feature with DVDFab where you can send the IFO's to DVDFab. This will help in getting an update.

That's a good suggestion.. the UK aren't getting this DVD until the first week of December so by then DVDFab will hopefully have a fix in place ready for us Brits who yet again have to wait ages for a DVD that's released elsewhere (for no good reason whatsoever). Not that i'm irritated by Region coding/staggered release dates or anything.

It's a little difficult right now to send the info. to DVDFab because
after a minute it crash with the following:

DVDFab platinum 5.1.1.0

DVDFab - The ultimate DVD
copying/converting/burnig software! has
stopped working

A probem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Window will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available.

I don't know what path player is, but I will check that later.
I updated DVDFab to 5.1.1.8 Beta and still not working.
For the meantime I will have to wait for a couples of days and wait
for some updates.

@CDO

Have you checked the disc to make sure it's clean and not damaged? Could be a bad press, but it's probably DRMs.

@CD0728 "Please describe what is happening when using your approach to backing up "Dark Knight". @garmoon I'm very certain he doesn't have bad press. Depressed is more like the reaction to this puzzling encryption? Below I have listed the AnyDVD status log produced for this title:

Summary for drive K: (AnyDVD 6.4.8.5)
SONY DVD RW DRU-840A SS01 JUL12 ,2007

Looks ordinary Huh? Then you get this with AI Scanner set to Always Enabled (not recommended)

I've never seen a bad press, I here they exist. what I do see is hidden encryption. That for some reason cannot be decrypted to date.:) This the challenge your looking for.:)

@N2DVD

Yup! But because it will be 2 weeks till I can lay hands on one-someone will have fixed their program-Any or Fab or someone else will have figured out a way around it. What's the fun if there's not a challenge every once in a while. I can teach a monkey to put a dvd into a drive and push a copy button. But I'd probably had trouble teaching him to do the SAW movies out of the box first day. LMAO

Edit: When was the last time anyone saw a thread about a hard movie to do?? Remember anyone??

Well, actually....I have "WANTED" 12/02/2008(single disc)...Backed up no problem. I have "TRAITOR" 12/19/2008 Backed up no problem. I say this cause these 2 titles have no aggresive encryptions. While The Dark Knight has had the worst of any title I've seen recently..i.e. DMWT/ZOHAN. HANCOCK,STEP BROTHERS, NARNIA II, have more of the typical aggressive encryption. Again nothing like "The Dark Knight" though.

@bryston

Some countries release their DVDs earlier than the US. Others own video stores or work there-they get movies a week earlier-, and yet others are doing the employees of the video store.
