correct it doesn't benefit or clean the ripped file further to run fixvts if you are using anydvd. which makes anydvd the most superior ripping tool on the planet.

With AnyDVD cracking the full disc by having AI scanner set to always enabled (txs N2DVD for the update!) I'm sure Fengtao won't be far behind.
James (developement) @ Sysoft did post this today: I believe a copy of "The Dark Knight" was possible with previous versions (movie only with CloneDVD, or manually deselecting bogus titles), but nobody has tried this.
Now what bogus title they are I haven't a clue or even if this is the case. He is mum though on the type of copy protection.
Ok so fab came out w/their new release version 5.1.2.0 but I just had TDK for a hot 20 mins. or so and couldn't or didn't know how to copy and send the IFO files. So I guess untill we hear from someone who has tackled it w/Fab it's only Anydvd for now.
@ binkie and those who have used region free + css, how could you if it's not supported anymore by Fab and unavailable for a while now.
Also can anyone post a link to that ghost dvd. Never heard of it. And what's this dfab + dshrink about that one of the other fellas posted about. Please explain if possible. Thnx.
Looks like Anydvd is getting closer to my bag of goodies. The more fire power the better.

I didn't see the post, but I imagine he used DVDFab (probably free version)and then open the files in DVD Shrink (also free) to compress the files to fit a SL DVD 5, and then burned that puppy with which program he chose Shrink to use. And if he used Imgburn to burn. He backed up the DVD, using all freeware! Good job!

I could not agree with you more on that one. :D It has yet to hit a wall in the road, IMO. Its definetely my most powerful tool. They do seem to stay one step ahead of fab MOST THE TIME too.

You obviously haven't read anything in this thread....
@dr_ml422
You can still download DVD Region + CSS free. Like I said I haven't used it in eons though. I pretty much stick with AnyDVD and once in a great while DVDFab.

Hey binkie, I bet you use it when you wanna keep only the Widescreen version on a dvd that has both wide/full. VERY nice tool. Most the time it doesnt require compression either.

For some idiotic reason I keep both - full & widescreen. Why I do that I haven't a clue cause I can only watch 1 version at a time :) In those cases I use it w/ Recode and pick advanced analysis.
Otherwise I use CloneDVD w/ it and uncheck all the special features I don't want - too easy.
And from the looks of it by the time I get my hands on TDK it will be the same piece of cake most back ups are :(

Confirmation now from X3R0102 that the latest DVDFab handles it.
So the 2 big players cracked the latest and greatest copy protection before it was officially released :)

Great work and excellent posts w/much needed info on how to send files to either of the Big Guns to evaluate and pick apart. Makes it easier now that I exactly know what to do when a doosie like TDK comes along every now and then.

yeah you're right. The fun's over before we get a chance at it. Maybe next SAW will appear here first and we can get in on the action. It's basically not much fun anymore with Anydvd always a step ahead of Sony or whomever.

What do you wanna bet that SAW V simply has a variation of the TDK encryption. Just a little something to throw off their new decryption algorithm. I suppose it could be something entirely different. Saw movies were definetely some of the worst to be introduced. Though I believe "The Cave 2005" was the very first bump in my path.

Thanks for posting your success! (and for reading too ;))
@garmoon
Yeah you're right it really is too easy anymore - most of us could do a back up with our eyes shut :)
The next Saw may be it for us - after all it was those that gave AnyDVD a run for their money since they didn't release a 'full' fix until after it was released.
TDK though may still give some peeps trouble even with the latest software. The more heavily protected, the more it seems some drives just won't read them - may be the case with this one but time will tell :)

I've been ready for TDK since I got back home from home_Thanksgiving. I figure we could roll back anydvd and defab programs for previous versions and try to back 'em up that way.

You guys have had success w/ripping pita releases w/older versions of either anydvd or Fab? that's what you meant by roll back correct?
I remember having been able to do some other flics that way, but not one w/the supposedly weird protection TDK has.
When I 1st started ripping it was 1 click and DVD 43. Then I was turned on to shrink which I used w/DVD43. I got stuck w/Hostel and didn't know about AD or any other forums or proggies that dealt w/ripping. So I bought a good used copy at my local mom n pop video store. Lol...
Those days are definitely over. You know even if they came out w/a new format or way of getting videos that was astronomically affordable I'd still continue to rip. It's so much fun. Guess that's the main ingredient in getting a hobby. Fun...
