Noob needs help Flashing Xbox, up for a challange?

i know more than a normal 16 year old should know about computers. but obviously its not enough. if i could have sumone give me directions i could follow, but i cant figure this out. and i already voided my warrenty i think...so its to late to turn back now. help would be greatly appreciated.
just bought eSata + Sata + IDE PCI Card w/ VIA VT6421 Chipset

i have a Lite-on DVD drive.
i have 2 computers. here's the rundown.
1:
4gb ram
VISTA
4 sata ports
2:
512mb ram
Windows XP
NO SATA PORTS
so i want to flash it so i can play backups since my original copies always screw up. ive tried to use iprep, jungleflasher, and dosflash. but i cant make 2 cents out of any of these. ive seen many tutorials, but they dont help me. since i cant even get jungleflasher to start up. and i dont know how to use them excactly. so i need help, big thanks to whoever tries to help.

ok, first off the sata card is just a card that plugs into the pci slot of your computer and gives you sata capability. so, so far so good you got the right card. now you also need to get an extractor, since you have a lite-on drive. and since i am running fire fox and dont know how to use it because i hate changing interfaces, but ie sux i cant give you a link, but they are easy to search for and i dont believe they cost much at all. look for the "spear" thats what its called. you also need a dual layer burner in your pc to burn the games, preferablly a newer one, (when i say new i mean preferablly no more than 2 years old.) you also need verbatium dual layer dvds. <---important, you could do everything right and it still might not work, because you got the wrong dvds. DO NOT CHEAP OUT. you can later to experiment, but for now this is WHAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE. plan on spending 40$ on these depending on how many you buy. www.newegg.com is a good place to get them. I am assuming you dont have all of this, if you dont, now is the time to go and order everything. then you can get back to us, or me :) you can just pm me. if you do have all of these items just reply back to this post and we will go further.

ok well im not planning on buying the cds until ive successfully flashed the drive and i do have a duel layered burner, and if i didnt i got people who have copied games and they work. do i absolutely need the spear? and what are all of these items? the chipset? i got those. i dont want to have to order sumthin else if i dont need 2, is there any other way to do it without the spear?

Are we talking about a xbox 360 or a xbox? if a 360 how old is it reason i ask correct me if I'm wrong :) any new xbox 360 cant be flashed reason being its eprom is read only and the only way to flash it is send it away to specialist

OK didn't know that how do you do the new 360's since the eprom is read only i flashed mine thought the new 1's couldn't be flashed since like i said the eprom is read only? not trying to hijack the thread just curious now

@ killalot, they found a bypass, you have to solder points on the drive or use the connectivity kit to do it.
@ op, google lite-on key for free. follow that guide to make your own "spear" unit to get the key, if you dont want to do that, then you have to order the thing that homesick told you to.

read it 5 times over, and i think the pci is already installed on the XP computer since i heard its easier to do on it. i just slipped the chip in there then popped the cd in and followed instructions, how do i know for sure that its installed?

ok i read the first page about that. now my real concern is do i really need the spear? cause this video shows i can do it without it.

and since dosflash 1.7 didnt detect my drive. i need to use the iprep video. hopefully it will be helpful.
edit: iPrep doesnt detect the drive either, what am i doing wrong? how do help it.

Since you have a Lite-ON dvd drive, you will need to extract the Key, Inquiry, Identify, and Serial information. You can either do that with the Spear you have already ordered OR, like someone has already posted... "Lite-ON key for free" .. Make your own key reader. Be sure to use either DVDkey32 0.8.1 OR JungleFlasher 0.0.43. These 2 programs will give you the proper dummy.bin that contains important serial information. Along with your Key, Inquiry, and Identify.

ok well that has like a 5 to 14 business day shipping so i guess ill just brush up on the other stuff while i wait. but i said before and it didnt seem like you took note to was the guy has 2 videos for the lite-on flash.
1. flash lite-on with iprep 0.08 or watever
2. flash lite-on WITH SPEAR so i assume its not completely necessary.
do i assume right or wrong

At 1:47 the guy states he has done the "R707" point and then he comments on soldering. What he did was bridged the R707 point on the dvd drive by soldering. So he doesn't use a probe or spear in that video. But the reason there are Probes or Spears is so you don't have to solder. Personally I recommend either the probe or spear as it saves you time on soldering and unsoldering. So yes, you are assuming correct that you DON'T have to use the Spear, but will you will have to bridge the R707 point with solder and have a connectivity kit that has either usb or serial connection.

ok thank you for tellin me that i need it, so when i get it itll be of sum good use. so i suppose i need to open the dvd drive to put it on the metal thing err watever. a few questions
1. what does it do to help you?
2. whats the difference between the spear and the probe
3. is there a way that this can break my dvd drive, if so what %
4. can this whole precedure break my xbox? if so what parts

1. Either way, you will need to open up the 360 Drive regardless. The spear will save you time as you do not have to solder.
2. There is no difference between the spear or probe, just the people who make them
3. Dealing with the Spear or Probe, make sure you have the proper end in the dvd drive( the end that has the spear or probe into the connection). If that is reversed, you may brick your drive.
4. The only way you can break your xbox is if YOU physically break your xbox. The only thing you really have to worry about is getting the spear or probe connection into the dvd drive. Otherwise nothing in the procedure could ruin your xbox drive. Unless you don't dump the files and decide to erase the drive, then you will have a nice new door stop.
In the mean time while you are waiting for your spear. I would go ahead and get your PC setup going. Looks like you have already installed your VIA card. You need to install the PortIO32 drivers so Jungle Flasher can recognize the dvd drive. Personally I recommend using Jungle Flasher as you don't have to boot to DOS, and DVDKey32 is already integrated into Jungle Flasher. Since you are using a VIA chipset. Delete the viamraid.sys file out of C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers folder. That will keep your PC from freezing when you go to erase the Lite-ON firmware.

ok i guess ill learn what the wrong end of the probe is when i get it. and good thing nothing will break it, cause i dont get alot of money. the spear and probe costed like $15-$20 each. so i was curious, how easy and cost efficient is it to make your own, metaphorically speaking. and what does the spear or solder do thats so essential, do they get info? do they bypass the security or what? and i wish someone would write a tutorial for people who dont know alot about this like me. and another thing, i cant get jungleflasher to even start, then theres dvdkey, i dont know if its just because i dont have the probe or wat, but it just opens cmd prompt for like 1/8 a second, and has sumthin written that i cant make out. thx
i like to put alot into the post because i dont have the patience to ask separately and wait 3 days to get answers.

You can make the key reader from spare parts. It doesn't take too much to make it. Bridging the connection at the R707 will allow you to extract the vital information (Key, Inquiry, Identify, and Serial info) There are several tutorials around. Once you get Jungle Flasher running, right when it starts up is a good tutorial. Have you installed the PortIO32 driver for Jungle Flasher? You need to open command prompt, navigate to the folder through command prompt, and then you can run the dvdkey program.

i dont know if i can ever get jungleflasher working, i dont know where to get an updated version, i got .26 which i hear is fine, but it dont work for me. and when u say run through command prompt, u mean at windows start up right?

guys what is the newest v of jungle flasher? i looked briefly too and all i saw was .26 command prompt is what is in dos. dos is what you see before you see windows loading. the old school black screen with white text. command prompt is most commonlly known as this --> C:\ why isnt it working for you? what is it saying?
