I have the original wiikey from a launch day Wii. I just changed the region. burn 4x. let the update run and worked like a charm but the videos on the disc dont seem to run or just stops. the game works fine, just the videos. i am already on the second circuit and enjoying this old/new gem.

I'm guessing by the date of your original post, that you downloaded the PAL version of the game.

I hate to break it up to you buy you need to do some work such as updating to the latest update which is 4.0. These steps are relatively safe and should not mess with your homebrew but they are required to get punchout to work and any other newer games.
http://www.yafaze.com/wii/downloads.html
Download ISO60 trusha patched
CIOS REV 7
Both are wads that can be installed through wad manager and are required to play current games.
After you are done installing the wads, update your wii to 4.0. All your Homebrew channel stuff should be still in tact and the iso60 will prevent any further evil acts by Nintendo.

Thank you for the information, but where exactly do I get the wad manager? Same website? A link would be great. Is this exatcly what you did? And punchout works for you?

Doesn't matter guys, either one or.
Make sure you have the homebrew channel then download the wad manager or any program that installs wads.

CIOS REV 7 will not work. Update to Rev 8, 9 or 10. Check your PM's.

If you have a chip wii, you can just update it through the system menu. As long as you installed iso60 and ciosv7,then you should be able to update your wii.

If you have the HBC and cIOS36_rev7 or above installed use this guide HERE to update to 4.0 firmware.

i have a 3.1U with 1.9S on a Wii (original Wiikey)...
i do not have any plans of using homebrew, so do i just update my firmware to 4.0?
if yes, do i need to install any CIOS or any other software to be able still play my back up games?
is there any other way to play punch out without updating the firmware to 4.0?

My Jap wii black/green screened on a few of new games too. I'm running 3.2J and Gecko OS #002 fix. One was boxing and the other was the new wii fit type game.
I fixed mine by any region changer 1.1b by simply setting the game region to USA.

so i finally gave in and decided to install HBC.
so after this I plan to do the following (via SD card):
- install CIOSrev7
- install WAD Manager
- install ISO60 trusha patched
- update to wii firmware 4.0
so is this the correct way to update?
as per my understanding, doing the steps above will not affect my Wii's ability to play back-up games, right?
do i need to install IOS36-64-v1042? what is this IOS for?

Do not attempt to download the 4.0 waninkoko installer, if you are at 3.2 and want to upgrade to 4.0 then you will need the following wads:
ios60
cios v7
Install both of the wads and then run the update through the system menu.

I've read a lot of threads, many with no clear answers, and this seems to be the correct way to do it. I did read that ciosrev9 was more stable though.
Did you update the Wii through Wifi? Are all of you channels still there, wad manager still working??
IOS36-64-v1042? Did you find out what this was for?

IOS36-64-v1042.wad is used in conjunction with the cIOS Installer.
You have 2 options to run the installer. WAD MODE or WiFi mode. If you choose WAD MODE then you need to have IOS36-64-v1042.wad at the root of your SD Card.
