C&D letter sent to Engadget over alleged 'Slim PS3' pics

article published on 19 May, 2009

According to a post over at Engadget, the site has received a cease and desist letter over pictures of the alleged 'Slim PS3' that show the console with a heavily redesigned body that is completely slim-lined. The move gives the pictures more credibility, but we will not know officially until Sony stops denying. The message says: Dear Sir, We just find that the following web pages ... [ read the full article ]

And what value does your post add, may I ask? Mine has everything to do with the post I replied to.

It isn't "mindles" when it is absolutely justified. He made a broad, sweeping statement about bashing the company, and I gave a rock solid reason why Sony "bashing" is fair game, regardless of the business unit. The company as a whole is ethically bankrupt and does not deserve forgiveness, and consumers deserve to know. If you're going to get snappy over unsolicited replies, I suggest you mind your own business Oner, as you have suggested for varnull.

And at the end of the day people vote with their money, if people don't like sony they don't have to buy their products. Absolutely no need to rant on and on about how awful they are.

Seems to me some people just like trying to cause trouble.
The whole point of my post was to highlight the fact that people don't have all the information needed to make an informed decision, so "ranting on" about how awful they are is just elevating consumer awareness.

Ok lets try again. Car manufacturers decide to test their cars on public roads. Joe public takes a photo, no big deal for joe but car company doesnt like it but cant do nada. If someone from the car factory takes the car out for a spin without permision and gets caught on camera, the car company still can do nothing(apart rom sacking the driver). So game manufacturer has picture leaked to the internet, cause we cant prove who posted it, then do we assume its illegal? Does the pics include the blueprint for the build? Ah no!!!! So why should the pics be taken down. Obviously its not illegal as the pics are being displayed here at AD and I know that AD are pretty strict as to what they display on the site (i.e. no posting of circumvetion of copy protection) So ah suppose its a matter of, if you are in favour of free speech then you must roll with the opinion of the law says it is free speech and sony can go to hell.

As for some of the above posts regarding sony, I think that varnull is saying that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. As in if you take the piss out of your customers with root kits,by not telling anyone and creating a major security issue, then do not complain when your silly slim edition console appears on the net when it wasn't intended.
Now the law is the law and I am the preciding judge.ROFL
ALL RISE. he he he he he he. Now I am only teasing and making the tense atmosphere a little lighter. Chill winston.

@ OzMick ~ I issued a warning that you didn't want to head only to continue on the same route...people who don't seem to listen when someone is being nice shouldn't complain when they are caught violating forum rules.

@ below ~ I think it is pretty evident by my earlier comment to him that said "And what does that have to do with the topic at hand now?" but I will make abundantly clear to those who do nothing but question yet don't comprehend...

Rule #8 - Don't reply with an off-topic comment/question

I really don't care if you like me, I enforce the rules with proper documentation & validity (just as what has happened here). So what you "believe" is not the truth nor factual, only in your eyes and the few others who violate said rules always seem to take issue with that....for some odd reason

An what forum rule did he break i wonder, when anybody say's anything bad about sony it's always you who come's and saves the day.

I don't like you i have never liked you, and just because someone doesn't like Sony or has a different point of view on the matter, you think you have to ban them.

I've said my peace on that. good day to you sir.

Ah, another clueless one (^_^;)
I wrote this article, of course, to allow "bashers" to come and bash the company. The same company from which I own TWO PlayStation 3s and have no problems with.

I am closing this now, as it is way off topic, from BOTH ends, and I do not want to see more long standing members get warnings or bannings. Tis all.
