Been doing some searching and a few other things suggested to try are...

Place the SD Card in before going to the SD Card channel data management.

Make sure the nun-chuck is not connected.

Format the SD Card and manually create the directory (instead of using the zipped directory). create new folder (private) inside that create new folder (wii) inside that create new folder (title) inside that create new folder (AKTN) then drag the content.bin into that folder.

You are going to Data Management, Channels, correct (not Data Management, gamesaves)?

I have no idea either. It should work. So I don't know what else to tell you.
Can you video what you are doing and put it on youtube. I bet it's something simple you are just missing

LOL I knew it was going to be something simple. This is a pretty common problem. I think in the tutorial it should say after every step. REMEMBER TO GO TO DATAMANAGEMENT CHANNELS

Burn speed does not have anything to do with how fast the game actually reads when played in the Wii. The backup loaders only read at 3X speed. So the games are not read at 6x speed like normal. So lag can occur with the games when using a backup loader.

If you want to prevent lag I would suggest getting a USB device and load the games from a USB Loader. Doing this will give you faster load times and read speed even faster then the normal 6x speed.

Hello everyone, first post here. I just want to say thanks for all the hard work getting me this far. I have a few issues that I'd like to discuss however. I had version 4.0 of my Wii up and running, softmodded, able to play backups and get homebrew without any problem at all. I decided to update to version 4.1 following the instructions, reading up and saw that it should work correctly. During download of the software, my internet connection died halfway through. Now, my Wii loads up into the preloader software saying that there's no systemmenu available. Does anyone know a quick fix for this, or am I going to have to fully restore my Wii to factory? I still have the ability to boot into the homebrew channel and load apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stupid internet.

I am also a newbie with all this stuff and am wanting to attempt this on my daughters LU65 serial Wii. I am wondering if I need any special programs to do all of this as I downloaded the lu64 fix and it is a .rar file and am not sure how to open it up. Thanks for any assistance. Paul

WAD manager is an app. Download it (you should already have it though I?d of thought), Put it in the app folder no SD card and access it through the homebrew channel. WAD manager is used to add WAD's (channels) to the Wii menu.

So hopefully this is not too stupid of a question. I am a newbie but have to say with this great write up i have been able to do quite a bit and would like to first thank you.

Doing this does it allow you to play PAL games on USA wii? If not is there a way to allow that?

I lost my Wii sports game that came with the system and would like to play it once in a while anyone know where to find it?

Wii sports resort is out there but its only PAL.

Thank for the help

Wii (Jap) firmware 4.1 update
Hi. I was wondering if anyone can provide advice on updating my wii (jap) firmware from v2.0J to v4.1J.
Or should I just update it to 3.2J. I heard it is more stable.
Is it possible to update to 3.2E or 3.2U? What would happen to the Wii? Actually, I be good if the Wii can play Mario Kart and Raving Rabbit TV Party.

I am not comfortable with connecting online to perform the update.
Tried to follow the instructions via NEW AND IMPROVED WII GUIDE ! But found out it's for Eur and US Wiis.
Couldn't obtain all the required files needed though. Is there a tutorial for Wii (Jap)?

Would appreciate some assistance.

First I must say that this thread is just amazing. Starting with the great and updated tutorial plus awesome feedback (not just from the author).

I am not so noob in Wii homebrew, but I have one question before following the tutorial:

I have a Wii 3.3U + modchip(don't know which one)+ HBC (DVD install prior to 3.3 update). If I follow the tutorial and everything goes ok will unofficial channels run from the SD Channel (the new from 4.0)?

I ask because I read that even channels like HBC can't be copied to and from SDs since 3.3, imagine pirated wiiware or injected ones.

I will also try to softmod my cousin's wii after I managed to sofmod mine. He has a 'virgin' 3.1E.

Thank you all!

Great guide larry! I just followed all of the steps here on a virgin 4.1u wii. This is probably a stupid question but now when I go to play my retail copy of Tiger Woods 10 from the disc channel it is asking me to perform an update. Is it ok to do this? Is there something else I should install to skip updates? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Make sure there are no Game Cube controllers, Memory Cards or USB devices connected. You also might need to try to use a different SD card.
