So you cant hack any PSP, change of thread title needed, incase someone plows on an decides to try an hack their 3000,s, without taking in the information contained within the thread.
Nice guide...
Well actually Sudds if someone were to follow the guide willy-nilly or however you want to put it, they can't hurt their PSP. For those "unhackable" mobos and 3000s this is a partial hack that loads CFW onto RAM. PSPgamen does explain all of this in the introduction. Please read it again.
I rest my case.

hi,
are there any memory sticks that don't work with the hacked psp, that would normally work with the unmodified psp?
i want to buy this memory stick but i'm afraid it won't work
extra info about memory sticks would be nice if you have it :)
Keep smiling, you'll get people to wonder what you're up to.

Sandisks are fine, just try to avoid copies (fakes) from China. Mostly found on eBay. However that is pricey, if you need a cheaper site try newegg.

hi, first of all, thanks for all the hardwork done. i believe all of us really appreciate it. i managed to get my psp3000 5.03 to work the first time i ran the ChickHen and CFW as per your instructions.
all my games are playing well from the memory stick. however, i just want to confirm that after we run the hack, should the version now be 5.03 M33 or 5.03 MHU. Mine now states MHU but i dont have a problem. Thanks for the confirmation

Could be an internal problem, reset your PSP and re-install the ChickHEN and the CFWe..

yes, aim for pandora , you have 3 options to choose :
-find someone with already modded PSP that will let you borrow it for 5 minutes to convert your battery to a Pandora
-buy it . (take a loook at this one , only 6$)
-hardmod it. you will have to open your battery and cut down .
you also need magic memory stick , but this isn't a problem , you will need a memory stick PRO DUO ( 62 MB or higher ) , and a program that will write special files to your memory stick in order to boot in service mode along with the battery ( you can find lots of tut over the internet )
CFWe 3.60 added ! enjoy !

Okay this is a great guide I understand everything about this but what is this new thing called CFWEnabler 3.60. I'm not sure if i need it at all. And i've seen that if you get this it lets you put games onto you ISO folder but why would i need that when just following your guide will let me do that. I have a phat psp so is this CFWEnabler 3.60 only for people who have 3000 psp's?

Yes, it's designed for un-hackable motherboards , TA088v3 ( from the latest 2k series ) and TA090v3 ( PSP-3000 )
It's just an 'intelligent' way of running games off your mem stick without the Custom Firmware installed into the flash ( internal memory ) . It's not compatible with the oldest psp's.
Recovery flasher is the best option if you have any classic PSP or Slim & Lite ( 2k ) w/ any motherboard different than TA088v3 .

I found out that the PSP screen blacking out has nothing to do with the mod but its a problem with the backlight on the PSP. Unknown to me the PSP suffered a fall.

@milkyjo
you can't play downloaded games without a 'special' custom firmware , your firmware is sony official that doesn't recognize .ISO/.CSO games ..follow this guide i wrote , it's probably the best for you , or better use pandora + magic memory stick but it may cost you some money/effort :
follow this guide, credit to larrylje, probably the best guide you can find
this method will hack hack your PSP entering service mode with a special battery aka Pandora and a modified memory stick aka Magic Memory Stick , it's the best hacking method that will work on your PSP .
My method , wrote in this guide will install CFW too , and you will not need Pandora and MMS for it . It's your option. If you have any more questions/problems feel free to ask in here.
@pskr
No , since it's the brand new PSP-3000 , the motherboard makes it unhackable , use the CFWEnabler guide instead.
@samoax7
Press select in the main menu and change UMD ISO Mode to 'Sony NP9660'. If that didn't work either your ISO file is a bad rip , or you haven't succesfully installed the Custom Firmware.
@coolangel
There's no need to open/mount the ISO file, PSP will read the ISO/CSO files , so just copy & paste the image into the ISO folder on your memory stick ROOT.

My friend gave me his old PSP-1000 and it's still at firmware 3.30. Would you recommend upgrading and using this method or using the Lumines 3.5 downgrade method?
Also, if I were to put this sort of custom firmware onto my PSP, would I be able to use the official updates or change my firmware back to the official firmware?

I have a question. My wife has the Ratchet and Clank v3001 PSP. Would this CFWEnabler 3.60 enable it to flash to memory card I guess? And if so, can the PSP be turned off and back on without having to reflash it like the chicken 5.03 way?
BTW I posted earlier about hacking my PSP Slim 2000 series. Got the Pandora. Works awesome. Used it to also flash my two boys 1000 series. Took less than 5 minutes to flash them both.

I have a 3001 as well. That PSP will need to start with OFW 5.03 then follow PSPgamen's guide (post 1) to load some CFW. Once the PSP is all set you can put it in sleep mode and it will stay CFW. If you turn the unit off then you have to go through chickHEN then CFEnabler. That only takes but a minute or two btw, never as long as the first time CFEnabler runs.
Works great for me. Hope that helped. :)
