Damn I hope it's not the last one. I just got my xbox about 2 days ago from the store. That'll be bad news.

The 93450C is in an unknown status right now. What is the manufacture date of the Lite-ON drive. Should say somewhere on the label along with the firmware revision. If it is an August 2009 83850C, I'd say you probably won't be able to dump the DVDkey at the moment.

Manufacture date is may 2009. I think I have the one that can be flashed. I'm just paying some local guy to do it right now because I'm sick and tired of waiting for my xbox to be flashed and I don't wanna wait a couple more days to order the CK3.

You don't have to order the CK3. You can do it yourself. May 2009 is more than likely a 83850C Lite-ON that does NOT require a CK3.

I just gave in and did it. I was getting (insert your favorite bad word here) upset and frustrated. I just paid a guy $25 to do it.

I really do appreciate your tutorial as if I did have the model I thought I did, it would have been okay. Kinda sucks that a monkey wrench had to be thrown in tricking me into thinking I really had a Benq drive. Weird that my Elite Xbox didn't come with that model but instead with the LOUD Lite-On.

Oh well, can't complain, after everything was said and done, I only paid $105 for my unit with 2 controllers. HAHA Suck that Microsoft!!!!

I have a problem I just bought a 360 2 weeks ago in the store and I have the benQ drive. I used jungleflash 1.66 with ixtreme 1.6 benq. Had loads of problems getting the computer to reconize it with my nforce2 chipset of the via6421a chipset. Finally I was able to connect it after lots of computer freeze ups. As I finished writing to the drive the only step I didn't do was outro/ata. The console wasn't able to read any disc copied or original or dvd movies. I rehooked it to my puter and tried to earse the flash so I could reflash but the puter frooze up. When I rebooted the puter and the drive using the xbox now the drive wont spin up or open the tray at all. I was thinking of buying another benq drive I do have the drive key numbers. has anyone else had this problem and how hard is it to put the keys on a different drive. I also wondered why is flashing better then a modchip and what modchip is good. Everything is hooked up right I am A+ certified. Also what is the activate iso for? Is this something I should be using?

Are you sure you don't have a Lite-ON? If you just bought a XBOX 360 in a store it will be a Lite-ON.

ok so after 2 days of trying to flash I now found my other computer connects to the xbox better and was not freezing up everytime I started the xbox360 up to the puter. The drive opens and closes again and the write from jungle flasher went well verified was ok went by the tut here but the drive won't read any disc at all real dvds, original games nothing. It says reading disc then says everything is unplayable! Where do I go from here?

I finally got up the nerve to give this a try. (on my friends 360 with BenQ drive). Got it in the first shot with no problems at all. My only question is that I hear a lot about saving the "drive keys" and this was not mentioned in the tutorial. The firmware was saved and put in a secure location. I saw the button that read, "save drive key", and so I used it and put that along with the firmware backup. Is this correct or even necessary?

As long as you have the firmware and it is legit, your DVDkey is in it. You can load the firmware and then click the "Save drive key" option. It will ask you to save the key.bin.

Load your original firmware into JF and make sure you have a legit key.

Ok guys I think I got the flashing part down now but my drive still don't play anything. Everything is unplayable. My next question is how do I know if I still have a legit key. I still have the original bin thing callled BENQ-OFW would my key be in there? If I ordered a new drive would that come with a new key that I can restart this process agian and just buy a new dvdrom for 40 dollars? What do I do now??

P.S. I reflashed the drive to stock and still not playable and when i reinstalled 1.6 ix it says in jf the firmware is stock or flashed to final ix 1.6 nothing allows a standard dvd to be played. It was my understanding if i lost the key that the xbox would be nothing more then a dvd player at this point that would be an upgrade from the brick I have now

Stupid question.

When reflashing (i.e. when I want to upgrade to the next edition of the firmware), are the instructions exactly the same? Or do I have to do anything differently?

Are there any steps I skip, do I have to use this half-open tray trick that people keep talking about etc...?

Thanks!

Sorry, I've just read the last few pages and found the answer. D'oh.

The procedure is exactly the same though, including backing up the firmware (when it's the firmware you put on)? I've read a few times that the only way to reflash something involves the tray half-out stuff and it sounded a bit too complicated to me compared to this (excellent) tutorial!

Just a note>> When I flashed from 1.6 to 1.61, I had to have the BenQ dvd tray half way open. It wouldn't unlock until I did this. Other than that... Works Great! Awesome Tutorial.

I hope someone can help me. Im trying to update my lite on drive that is spoofed to a ben q. Im trying to update it as a ben q but it keeps getting a device intro failed. I even tried it with the tray half open but I still get the vendor intro failed. Could someone please help me out? Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the tut. I have read all 5 pages. I still have a question or 2 though. So basically, can I jut buy a Benq drive off Ebay for my 360, hook the drive to my PC with a sata cable, while being powered by the power cable from the Xbox 360??? Is that it pretty much? Then I can use it to backup games directly from my PC right?

If I buy a Benq and my Xbox drive is a liteon, I can spoof it, and still have it work, while retaining all the good things of a Xbox 360 Benq drive, such as not needing an activate disc, is that right?

Also, is there a site that tells me which sata chipsets are compatible? I Googled but havent found one. Might be using the wrong keywords. Thanks in advance.

If I'm flashing with 0800 firmware, what's the process for that? I assume I click 'no' when it asks to autoload ixtreme, but where do I go to load the 0800 firmware?

I am using win xp, the via sata 6421 card, portio is installed. I have followed the directions exactly and have been at this for some time but cannot get jf to recognize the benq drive. Just keeps giving me the NO DRIVES DETECTED. Any advice?
