Hi.
1st time i have tried hacking a 360 but have done a few other consoles so its not new to me but thats my excuse over and done with anyway ;)
So i've become unstuck before even getting stuck into the guide really. Having problems sorting out PortIO32. I've tried to follow a guide to install on vista here but i keep on getting the error "The Folder you specified doesnt contain a compatable software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64 based systems" I have tried all the suggestions in that thread but no luck (pretty sure i was doing it right)
This is my DxDiag, couldn't upload the file because the forums wont allow me so this is just a copy and paste tell me if this isnt enough.

So i'm trying to find out why i cant install PortIO32 and if i can use the sata connection i have on the mobo or do i need to buy a PCI one and mess about with the drivers (and if i'm using the one on my mobo do i have to play about with any of the drivers on that?)
I have another PC if it is not possible to use this one just i have to buy a sata PCI card but i want everything yesterday and sunday isnt the best day for being impatient :D
Any help is appreciated.

Are you currently running a 64 bit operating system...and yea the PCI card is the best.

No local computer store has a PCI sata only a PCI-e. Brought it anyway, but will this do the trick?
If not i'll take it back and order one online.
Edit: Doesnt look like its gonna work. Ordered a PCI one instead.

Hey guys, first let me say thanks a bunch for the tutorial! Call me an idiot, but it took me a couple of reads to actually get it right!
Anyway, I have an odd problem. I just bought my elite, and followed the instructions to what I think is right. Anyway, popped in a game (Two Worlds) and she ran fine.
Then, I tried chucking in 'Prototype' and I enabled the update, but no luck, then 'H.A.W.X' and then 'Red Faction - Guerilla' and all I get is that error that tells me "To Play This Disc, Put It In An Xbox 360 Console".
So, I whack 'Two Worlds' back in, and she runs fine. I put in 'Resident Evil 5' and it works. I had a problem like this a while back when soldering and chipping was the go, but nothing to do with flashing.
Here's my log, whoever is in the know, would you mind telling me what I've done wrong? Or better yet, what I can do to fix this issue. Otherwise, I'll have to take it to my local Xbox 360 whizz. You might noticed I botched it a few times, but as I said, it runs some games, but it doesn't seem to want to play the third generation games or whatever they're called. The only thing I THINK I notice is that way down the bottom, it says "Current DVD key is 55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA" so I don't know if that's it.

Thank you for the great guide. The first drive I modded worked great after carefully following your instructions. However I tried another drive and I was able to extract the key but when I got to the erase/flash portion My computer froze during the power cycle and now my computer does not see the drive in windows or dosflash. I tried deleting the VIA drivers and then reinstalling and still no luck. I figured dosflash would at least see the drive. I tried another drive and same thing. I was able to extract but when I go to the erase/flash portion is froze and that drive is also not recognized by windows. The drives is not mine and I need to get it up and running. Any help will be extremely helpful.
I'm using
Win XP
CK3 Pro
VIA 2462 SATA PCI Card

Right after trying a few different PC's i have portIO32 installed and working properly (to the best of my knowledge)
Now i have the problem that i dont seem to be able to get LO83info extraction sorted. Tried to do the power cycle thing using the xbox to power the dvd drive but all i get is LO83info extraction Failed! Tried all the tips through this thread and no luck so far here is a link to a screen shot of what i am seeing:- http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w207/...ashingissue.jpg
I am 99% sure i have the correct LITEON drive this is the info from the top of it:-
Model number: DG-16d2S-09C
Firmware version 83850C
Tried using the JF guide and noticed that they have a screenshot there and the "Drive Properties" are not the same as the ones i have (details of my drive is in the screenshot i have linked) but cant find any others that have LITEON as their "Vendor".
Only thing that has been suggested that i cant do just yet is to use the CK3 connectivity kit or whatever its called to power up the xbox so i've just wasted money (i guess) ordering that to see if that helps the proceedure.
Again any help is greatly appreciated sorry if i am just being stupid and missing something but i have tried all forms of research before bothering this thread (again)
Thanks
Hincey

Colchester mate, tried another forum to ask if anyone around the Essex area could do it there also. If i find anyone i'll pass the info on tho. Think it might be something to do with the fact that the VGA sata card i brought had 2 sockets on it and i have always been using the one thats in the case. Gotta do a bit more tinkering to see if i can get it going.

Not too sure but i think i may have sorted it.
After it failed the 1st time after erasing it was cos the xbox automatically powered down (i think). Then i couldnt get JF to find the drive but after doing some reading from this site somewhere (GF found the link so i aint got it) if you have already erased the drive you can just use the same port that you found it on the 1st try and erase liteon again open the source firmware again on the Firmware Tool tab and try write the drive again. Hope this makes some sence.
Anyway can someone tell me if its done correctly and spoofed? Here is the last log that i have:

Hincey, that looks correct. If you are able to play a game, you flashed your console with iXtreme 1.6 and your DVDkey is correct.

Well i thank you ever so much for making the guide, by far the easiest one to understand even without the photo's.
/tip hat
Is there anyway to test if its spoofed? Just a bit worried to turn on xbox live just incase.

If your 360 boots up to the dash, it is properly spoofed. If the drive was mis-spoofed, you would get an "E" error upon booting (E66 or something like that). Since you can get to the dash board and play, you are good to go.

Stupid question but...do you need to remove the dvd drive from the system to connect to sata? I have only recently taken off the covers of the xbox but realized I dont have the correct torx screws to remove the metal plate. Also, there's this silver seal on my dvd drive, is there a way to remove it without breaking it, like the warranty seal on the front. Thanks
