This is wierd but thought I would see if this has happened to anyone else.......I just got banned I knew it was going to happen such as the risk with MODDING your system. But I noticed that it took longer then usual to log in to xbl in the past couple of days.....Does this happen just before you get banned?

Maybe going back to the original fw would be a good idea also. It's very unlikely to last beyond this month although no one really knows for sure.
I would imagine if they have found a way to probe consoles through their networks, why would they just do a one month thing? Need some network experts to look into what was posted about the gateway and give some feedback as to whats happening. It looks as though they are using port 3074 udp in some way?!? but i don't know enough about it to comment. I have been online all week as i've been off work and im still ok which was up to last night about 9:45 gmt, however i won't deny i get slightly nervous when i switch my xbox on!

Are they allowed to do that, surely that's a breach?

Has anyone tried to blocked that port and connect to live?

It's one of the main xbox live ports...

Ahh right. For some reason I thought it would have gone through a standard port like HTTP port 80. No idea why?

Creaky, surely we can now start to break these threads up a bit. This one is getting ridiculously long, and the traffic one would have been easier to debate in it's own thread, why did you close it?

Nah i know its one of the main xbox live ports, so i don't know any way round it if it was a problem, but like someone said, its a breach and would surely be illegal? So i can't see how its happened

We agree to their terms and conditions, but whether it's in there I don't know.

Because it was also posted in here, and is now being discussed in here. Plus ~

The thing is though is that it's keeping most of them trapped in the thread, if i close it there'll be threads all over the shop. Bear with it, once the novelty's worn off the panic posters will be off as they're only here to leech info re the alleged ban wave anyways..

I have left some ban threads open, the ones that have a valid reason to be in separate threads..

As to the ports, ~ Which ports are required to be open for Xbox LIVE on your router or firewall

I can't vouch for the Default Gateway details shown in that screenshot as i don't use stock firmware on routers anymore and don't have a Linksys WRT610N (all my routers use DD-WRT), and see here the ports i have forwarded in my main router ~

I modded my buddy's box and he's in another state, so all games were verified before I sent them to him, and he never played a game early. He just got banned yesterday.

Oh and creaky, love the DD-WRT, great firmware for routers! Currently on my linksys!

It is indeed, see my signature, my main router even has a virtual WEP interface for NDS use

Your xbox cannot connect to xbox live so you can't download nothing.
Thanks.

Same thing, I live in Canada and have not been banned yet **knocks on wood** :). Im running a hitachi with 1.51 firmware. My xbox has also had a rrod repair. I got the e-74 error and got it repaired. I got it flashed after it came back from repair.I just went on gears 2, and the first match was ok, but the second match was extremely laggy. Is that a sign that im going to get bannned :(?

No, not at all. Gears of War 2 online has known to suffer from lag from time to time.

I was quite surprised as he plays original games, and the only backup he owns is Batman, which has been fully verified etc. Anyways he called me back about half hour later to tell me that he was able to reconnect...!! i then was playing about an hour later and got the dreaded this console has been banned message. That was about 10pm (GMT) last night, it is now 10hrs later and mine is still banned, so i think mine is a definite. I just find it really bizzare how his has been lifted?

Has anyone else had this experience?
There have been a few that have already had this happen in past pot. He will more then likley be banned again soon. I was when it happened to me.

My buddy and I were playing a private two-player co-op game on Borderlands. I was hosting.

Both of us are running 2008 consoles with iXtreme 1.6. Both consoles were modded at the same time by the same person.

Both copies of Borderlands were burned by me, at the same time, from the same image, which was 100% verified by ABGX.

My console was banned yesterday during the 2-player game, but he is still playing, throwing caution into the wind (his words). This morning, however, something interesting happened;

When his friend came over and logged into his account (NOT the one my friend was playing on when I was banned, and all of yesterday), his account was banned. This is odd, because it is only a gold trial account, not one with a subscription. As of 10:00am Saturday (11/7) he is still playing on XBL.

I think they installed a way to have the Xbox send out firmware and driver info, but it isn't automatic. It's gotta be a random check thing. This also may be tied to the lag maybe? XBL being pinged for hardware info?

Please, for the love of KONRAD ZUSE just let Windows XP die.
