Bans most likely have nothing to do with whatever game you are playing at the time. The fact that you were playing Borderlands at the time of the banning really means nothing. It is most likely only a coincidence, and nothing more.

It is the games that you have played in the past that matter. Yes, even the game that you played for only 10 minutes.

I have a D-Link as my main router downstairs and a Linksys with DD-WRT firmware upstairs in my sons room. The Linksys is piggy backed off the D-Link wirelessly. Allot easier for him to set stuff up with the Linksys router rather then bridging connections with his PC wirelessly. I also set up a virtual WEP security for his NDS.

Same here. It's nice, but my one complaint is that I have to have each router on a different subnet, and that makes certain tasks, such as printer sharing, very difficult =\

Turned on my other benq with 1.4 on today and no ban hit me yet on that one. I have only played my backup of cod waw on that and have not even turned it on in about 7 months.

Nice, have you got the WEP interface isolated from the main interface though ?

My folks house is running WDS ie wifi between upstairs router to the downstairs router, all on same subnet. Here i have 3 routers connected via ethernet as it's all on one floor, again everything connected via wifi and ethernet are all on the same subnet.

Don't mean to detract from all the rivetting ban theories :)

Well I sent mine off to a friend to be flashed but I dont mind buying another console since I've got two sets of wires ill play offline on my rips and the games which I want to play online Ill just have to fork out some more money to M$. Anyway I wanted to know if anyone thinks this Ban Wave will end? I know we cant predict but surely it cant just go on forever.... or can it? due to the update will they be constantly spying on us??

Yeah, now that it's been a full week of banning, it makes me wonder if they have some sort of ban detection that just automatically flags/bans you, instead of flagging you and coming back at a later to get you.

People here are saying that it is expensive for MS to do these ban waves, but I am beginning to think that they just updated their system, so it's just a computer program that automatically bans.

My buddy and I were playing a private two-player co-op game on Borderlands. I was hosting.

Both of us are running 2008 consoles with iXtreme 1.6. Both consoles were modded at the same time by the same person.

Both copies of Borderlands were burned by me, at the same time, from the same image, which was 100% verified by ABGX.

My console was banned yesterday during the 2-player game, but he is still playing, throwing caution into the wind (his words). This morning, however, something interesting happened;

When his friend came over and logged into his account (NOT the one my friend was playing on when I was banned, and all of yesterday), his account was banned. This is odd, because it is only a gold trial account, not one with a subscription. As of 10:00am Saturday (11/7) he is still playing on XBL.

I think they installed a way to have the Xbox send out firmware and driver info, but it isn't automatic. It's gotta be a random check thing. This also may be tied to the lag maybe? [bX]BL being pinged for hardware info?[/b]
Be careful, some dimwitt here tried to flame me for suggesting the same thing about possible pinging.

I was wondering.. if I go and download all the zombie map packs before i get banned, will i still be able to play them without being on live?

I know M$'s strategy.

PEOPLE ARE TOO RETARDED TO USE ABGX PROPERLY.

This is how M$ detects people. Those people were 100% sure that they used abgx properly but they didn't. M$ doesn't have new ways to detect firmware or whatever.

Either people can't use abgx properly or abgx fails sometimes.

Thank You.

one guy never played a copy on his xbox (hadnt been flashed long and he got hit , so that blows your theory out of the window

they must have a record of all modded xbox360 and banned them on certain days
the only reason i modded was that i did not want to pay for 2 games while playing system link and live
now only play system link
never mind
will now wait till xmas and buy 2 playstation 3 as gone off 360'snow

Just wanted to post my banning experience........

I have a modded BenQ on 1.6, All my burnt games were ripped from originals using a samsung kreon drive. Never even tried borderlands or other new games, last games I ripped was Halo 3 odst...

Got banned yesterday (11-6-09) after playing modded console online for over 1.5 years.

No idea how, never once played a game before release since I rip my originals, no illegal content on my hdd, nothing....

I do have a few friends here in SOCal that got banned yesterday too, and I have like 10 friends in Texas that all got banned the day before yesterday....

So it looks to me like microsoft does their ban waves by area and hopefully once the ban wave passes yours and you survived it, then you should be straight.

As for me, buying a arcade and using that to play on live. I actually own all the originals to my burnt games and never pirate games. So this really sucks that I have to buy another console simply for xbox live. If it wasnt for halo and COD, I wouldnt even care about playing on live.....

I's is noes how too uses dee ABGX's, so's who is beeing dee ratard now... YOU's is!

In all seriousness, though, I agree to a point. I feel that some got caught simply because they didn't know how to use abgx, yet swear up and down that they do.

I still read about people who make their own proper rips, then autofix it with abgx.

Thank you for taking the time to post. Very useful info here.

Just to reiterate, you have NEVER played a rip that you did not make yourself, correct?

Also, did you autofix your rips via ABGX?

Correct ive never played a rip I didnt do myself. Never once have I downloaded a game. And ive never even had a game mess up on me while trying to rip, or burning for that matter. Everything has always worked great for me...

As far as abgx, I use it to verify my game. It always passes stealth and all that w/out errors, but ive never tried autofixing or anything like that.

I was under the impression that if you ripped the original yourself you wouldnt even need to run it thru abgx, but I did it anyways just to make sure its passes stealth, and it always did.

Glad to give back whatever I can to the community.

Yes, you are right. If it passed stealth, it is (supposed to be) safe. I was asking about autofix because it was possible that you ripped your own game and then 'infected' it using bad ABGX data.

There goes that theory.

That's exactly what I was getting at, also. Not directly at that poster, of course. Just most people in general who swear up and down that they "know" for a fact that their rips are good.

Yeah I have no idea how I was banned, I thought I was taking all the proper precautions.... Oh well just gotta get another console and not mess around with modding it.....

Im sure this has been asked a million times and ive done a search and got somewhat mixed opinions on it, but I should be good transferring my HDD from this banned console, to a brand new non modded console right. I shouldnt need to format it or anything, the ban is on the console and nothing else..

Also, since my console is banned, is the only thing it wont do is connect to xbox live? I can still play backups fine offline, and will I still be able to stream movies and stuff from my computer?

Sorry havent even powered on my 360 to check anything since I got that dreaded ban error.

anyways thanks guys......

In the past, yes, this was true. With the current dashboard update, people have reported their HDD data getting corrupted. I am not myself completely familiar with it, but there are threads aplenty discussing it here. I believe getting the HDD to work on a new console is just a matter of deleting the gamertag from it and then retrieving it again, but don't quote me on that.

Yes, that's correct.
