Thanks for the links (I really needed them)
But Why cant you go from:
Gen A - B - C - D - D2
I mean, if I'm on 5.00m33-6
Why cant you just go right to Gen D2?
Also.... Do you need to format the mem.stick before upgrading the FW over and over?

Edit* Sorry...
What I wanted to say was,
IF you must upgrade from 5.00m33-6 TO
Gen A,B,B2,D,D2
(Can you skip B2 and just do A,B,D,D2 ?)

As I remember I actually skipped A completely. When I got my PSP it was on 5.00 M33 and I went straight to 5.50 GEN-B.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

im just guiding you as the way i did it, you could skip parts i suppose, but if your psp needed a file from a previous CFW it would not be there, i did it as on the screen, some did not and have problems, probably some did and have no problems. I am just trying to stay simple as far as the guide goes.

what if you have 5.50Gen-A (full) can you jump to 5.50 Gen-D2?
cause i'm getting an error message from the game it says "the game could not be started. 80020148" when i try to play Motor Storm Artic Edge
and are the games suppose to be in imagefile?
and am i supposed to put the game in a specific folder..?
i use to put my games in ISO folder that always worked for me but sonce the new games came out i put it in the same folder it would not work..

Some have successfully upgraded directly like that, but many have bricked. Personally, I would just take the safe route with the incremental updates.
Using D2 myself, and I still run my games from the ISO folder.

Also you can't update directly to GEN-D2, because GEN-D2 is just an update to GEN-D, so you have to have atleast GEN-D first.

I have 5.00m33-6 right now, and I was wondering what is the difference between m33 and Gen? Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't darkalex stop making the m33 cfw, so 5.00m33-6 is the last update? anyway, any information will be appreciated. thanks

5.00m33-6 was the last, gen-d2 lets you play the newest games no need to patch everything else is the same

Hi there! This goes along for all psp right? My psp is the one that is using chickhen r2 and load with custom firmware enabler that makes it 5.00 m33. When i'm trying to play Assassin Creed Bloodlines, it says error game can't be played. Is it ok if i upgrade my psp like what you did?
Thanks, information will be appreciated.
Have a nice day.

Try the latest CFW enabler that allows you to run 5.03 GEN-B for HEN , this will self patch the games.

I was also wondering how far GEN is going to go? Are they still gonna make cfw updates for a few more years, or are they also close to shutting down? sorry, it's my first time with Gen, because I always used m33.

Hi Mickoz74. I have been trying to download assassins creed 2 on a psp phat 0.81 with 5.50 Gen D2. I am unsure if I copied over the top of one of the files and therefore deleteing one of the files required to run the game. Please can you tell me exactly what files should be there for example Games music etc and what should be in those files PSP etc. Please reply as I am a newbie and it is driving me mad!!!!!
Thanks
