There was a new update today and there have been numerous reports that as well as giving you the ability to use a usb stick as a memory device it also uncripples banned xbox's ability to install games to the HDD.
Get the Update with Avatars here http://download.microsoft.com/download/1...ystemUpdate.zip
Put it onto a usb stick insert it into xbox360 and reboot, it will start updating straight away.
Or you can burn it onto a cd and install the update that way.
Note!
The previous 8MB update without avatars ended "disabling" the avatars, this is the FULL release with avatars.
If you have updated with the 8MB release and lost your avatar then simply re-update using this release.
1.) Remove the 8MB $SystemUpdate_9199 folder from your USB stick.
2.) Extract the 83.5MB $SystemUpdate_9199 folder and rename the folder to $SystemUpdate Then transfer to your USB Stick.
3.) Insert the USB Stick into your Xbox 360 console.
4.) You will be automatically prompted to update.

I'll try this tonight and see if it stops the profile corruption. I would do it right now but i'm at work. This is good news for the banned consoles.

Has anyone got a link to the full version of the update that includes avatars? I updated an offline console using the hard drive from an unmodified console, but I lost avatar support, which is what will happen if you use that link posted above.

It is recommended you flash back to stock firmware, apply update 9199, then flash back to iX LT.

Someone else on another forum i use had this problem but they said that a reboot sorted it out.

True it is recommended to flash back to stock, alot of people can't do this and C4 knows this, so he recommends this just to protect himself when the masses get banned in november lol.

If you look next to the reply button there is a link to edit your previous post, just a heads up as it's against forum rules to double post ;)

Another question I have, what is the max. supported USB thumb drive or media that you can use? Can you use an external hdd on it now or just thumb drives?

You can use any size starting at 1 gig and up. But the most the console will let you use is 16 gigs.

If you have access to a 360 that's connected to Live, you can take your hard drive from your offline console and connect it to the online one, sign into Live, then you'll be prompted to update again and it'll download the avatar editor and missing themes, which will work fine when you connect the hard drive back to your offline console.
I went about it the wrong way originally. I took the hard drive from my already updated online console and updated my offline console with it, instead of connecting the hard drive from my offline console to my online one and updating that way. Hope that makes sense. It all works as it should now anyway.

If that happens put your console in a better place with more air and get a talismoon fan and some core coolers.
