I agree Nintendo really brought it strong this E3 but here's something to digest ~ If you go by "WOW" factor then Nintendo "won" E3 for the Wii U announcement...but that is something for next year (most likely Holiday 2012). So now knowing that information, you would have to re-adjust to say that Sony "won" ultimately. Simply because they have the PS Vita coming THIS year along with NUMEROUS games THIS year.
The one thing I am going to also add is that I think Sony can have the real jump here...because if you think about it, the PSV should (in theory) do or offer the same kind of innovation that the Wii U controller has showed (in terms of connectivity & interoperability).
The difference being is that Sony has it THIS year. It's something people really need to start pondering, discussing & having an open mind about.

I haven't followed much on Project Cafe but to me it looks like the remote will double as a portable gaming system. Think about it, play at home, continue playing on the way to work, lunch, etc. THAT would truly be innovative. An all in one solution. Now only if they can produce good games that people would WANT to continuously play...

Reggie Fils-Aime said in the E3 event numerous times that it is NOT portable.

Looks elegant and powerful. I'm sure Sony and Ms will have their own variation to this like they did with their kinect and the god awful ps move.

how is this innovative?
This is just as good as the first Wii, so if you thing that was good you are at the same class. This should cost a lot as well. I loved the idea of PS Vita communicating with PS products, BTW didnt sony had this idea(wii U) with the PSP and PS3?

Looks awesome so far! Am hoping the prices won't be enough to make me keel over though.

Did the Xbox 360's one-year seniority over the Wii make it more successful than the Wii? In the end, IMO, both products will "win" because they will both be profitable and they will both provide a fun experience for gamers (albeit not necessarily the same ones).

The extra Wiiu controller is probably gonna cost more than a brand new xbox360 slim or a ps3. Good luck have your 10yrs old kids playing with it.

Well it looks like more gimmicky stuff with the Wii U. Also if your strapping the controller onto a plastic gun wouldn't it fall off in a intense bit of gaming.
I also see the price of a new controller being quite expensive, so they better have a replacement plan, or a lot of parents are going to be pissed at there kids when they break one.

Anyone know if 3DS games will work in an older DS XL except in 2D mode?
Other than that I am anxious to see what the Wii U will bring for Nintendo's gaming future.

3ds games don't work on any handheld but 3ds itself.

BOOO. I do not like 3D but would love a Luigi's Mansion Sequel.

I can forgive crummy controls on a portable system, because I know they need to make them compact...but when I play at home, I want something that will fit my hands and give me plenty of precise control. This does not appear to do that...this is like an iPhone with some buttons attached to the edges. So, it is basically like the PS3's remoteplay with the PSP...except you don't have the option to use a good console controller instead.
We will have to wait and see...if the games actually require the touchscreen (thus making a DS3/360 controller adapter useless), then I will be skipping another generation of Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo made it a point to explain that the console and games would be backwards-compatible with the old Wii controllers as well. The overall impression I got was that the 'tablet' controller is designed to supplement existing control methods, not outright replace them.

This looks like it's going to cost a lot of money. I will not be buying one, I just don't care for a lot of Nintendo's games. As well with the Wii having to buy 2 remotes to make one really rubbed me the wrong way. Nintendo did a lot better back in the day now I just see them making a new console to put out another Mario game. Both Sony and Microsoft have better offerings to teen & adult gamers, let's see if they can change the trend this time around.

That is interesting...not sure how they would do that...do you have to swing the LCD screen around like an idiot? How do you do the touchscreen functions with a WiiMote? Does this new controller have a port for connecting traditional gamepads like the WiiMode does? Can you stand on the LCD like you can on the Wii Balance Board? If they truly are backwards compatible, it will either be a tour de force in creativity, or the touchscreen will be completely pointless.

Did you watch the whole presentation? They showed examples where one player would fill a role suited to the new controller, while other players filled roles suited to the old controllers.

Actually, you could connect to your GBA to your Gamecube awhile back, and play games, like Pokemon, and The Legendo Of Zelda 4 Swords. This is just a more expand version, and definetly better developed and made for just that kind of play. Sure, Sony can possibly to something similar, but who wants to spend $1200 to have 4 Vitas as controllers so you can play with your friends with your friends? $300 for the console, $300 for Vita is already too much to have Sony try to imitate the Wii U, tho', like the've done with their crappy Move, they'll probably try...
