Now the question is what brand blank dvd's are we all using? And are the dvd+ or dvd-.
from what i have read around the place DVD-R's seem to be the go.

Verbaitm, TDK, Sony.

and usually 1x or 2x with Imgburn

(most of this seem to be trial n error & personal pref)

No software, and if there was, you would have to have a chipped Wii to read the software :P
Just get your Wii chipped and you will be good to go

isnt it common sense that a genuine out-of-the box wii will not play backups? same thing kinda applys to all consoles.

determine what security chipset ur wii has.
ie d2c2, d2e or d2e (with epxoy resin over chip)

get a modchip (Wiikey2, D2pro, XenoWii)
decide whether u want a solderless instal or soldered
install the chip then u should be good to go.

also 4x may b a bit fast. if game still wont work try 2x or 1x

i dont kno much about softmodding a backup launcher as a channel. but from what i m aware all new firmware for the wii's stop you from doing that neway.

tank you very much guy's but i have no idea to how check for the firmware version and chipset :( So if i want to install twilight hack, i don't have zelda games. So, i'm just a boring kind of loser in this world of hack:(:(:(:(:( I tinks the only way for me is to buy the original and my wallet empty :(

P.S. i have try to write at 2 and 1 x but no change. it's very frustrating...

My wii is north america model, it is a reason?

So if you have a genius idea or some time to find the solution, i appreciate.

TANKS A LOT!!! You guy's are very generous for your response

Of course you can't play a backup yet!

You need to either buy or rent as mentioned above "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess", then install the "twilight hack" so that you can play backups.
READ the guides I posted before.
Or buy a modchip. That is your options.

The LG's mentioned are PATA, so you need an external USB case (or Firewire if you are firewire enabled).

Now my question is similar, are the LG's indicated in the very first post (a long long way back) the only drives still listed as suitable. I rang LG today and while they show one on their web site, they are discontinued and none are available anywhere (here in Aus).

While I tried to read as much as I could, a thread that is over 100 pages long (with lots of people repeating questions) I could not read the lot. If it is mentioned somewhere I apologise for asking the question again. If it is mentioned elsewhere can we have the very first post updated to reflect any changes in suitable drives please.

SO is there any other drive suitable to replace the LG.

Thanks

you dont even need the LG drive, just network your Wii with your computer and dump from the Wii itself. There is a posting on how to do this a few pages back, I would take a few minutes now to help further, but I just found out my god daughter has passed away.

Just purchased an LG-GDR 8146B from ebay for around £45.
Currently backing up Zelda using Rawdump ver 2.0.
Estimated time to completion is 2hrs 26mins (1825MB/hr)

For all those in the UK that are thinking of chipping their Wii and don't fancy doing it themselves, try www.playbackups.com based just top-side of Manchester inside the M60 ringroad near Oldham.
They did mine a few weeks ago and used a D2Ckey chip.
I have had no issues with any game yet, even those which prompt you to update the Wii.

To burn .ISO's I am currently using Nero ver 7.8.5.0 with Verbatim 16x DVD+R discs. So far all backups work fine when burnt at 16x.
