Ok, im assuming that you know a little about computers.
1. Right click on "My computer" and click "manage"
Should now have a window called "computer management.
2. to your left there are tabs select "Disk Management"
Now it should show your hard drives.
It should either say "FAT" or "NTFS"
i have attached an image from my pc

Both drives are NTFS, should they be FAT? If so, how do I reconfigure them?

No, NTFS is correct!
Maybe you need to re-download rawdump...
or try ripping another dvd, and monitor your HD space and see if it actually goes down! if the space does go down then the file does exist on you PC.

I use memorex all the time.. They work fine for me.. I also use Verbatim but have tons of issues with the printable DVD's burning and finalizing. I do love the Verb. Lightscribe. No problems there.
Guess it all depends on your burner..

I tried the rawdump using a gdr 8162b and got the error, "You might have a faulty drive." It reads cd's and dvd's with no problem. Can someone tell me where to get a compatible firmware update? When I go into properties, it doesn't show the firmware revision so I don't know what firmware I have right now.

I can't tell the real difference without model numbers. Why didn't you provide them? The black external plastic cover should make no difference if the internal hardware is the correct model, right?
Thanks!

The one I have is a GDR-8162B and when I use rawdump I get an error saying that I might have a faulty drive even though it reads cd's and dvd's without any problems. Any helpful ideas?

Well im pretty sure i have stated this earlier that RAWDUMP isnt capable of ripping every single wii game there is! use Friidump !!
And if that doesnt work then buy the game!
Not all games worked for me!!!! Downloading is another option but i dont condone that!

I am not trying to sound rude so don't take it that way.. Rawdump will pick up all drives on your computer or at least it does on mine. I get that error when I have the wrong drive selected in rawdump.
I mainly use Rawdump without problems. (Usually user error when I do.) Make sure Rawdump is open and ready to go with the correct drive selected, then insert the game and wait for it to spin in the drive and click dump..
I have only used Friidump once and that was for SSBB which worked fine. 100% sucess with rawdump on all my backups. If rawdump doesn't work then try friidump. If that doesn't work then it could be your drive.

Emachines Desktop
....
GDR8161
GDR8162
GDR8163
Toshiba laptop
....
GDR8082N LAPTOP DRIVE
and never an issue with Rawdump except user error on either setup. Just saying don't overlook the simple things. They are the easiest to fix.

I changed your pic to a link. Even with high speed internet it was taking a while to load the page - dial up users would be killed trying to load it :)
