My first ever burn.
Used Imgburn.
NTSC Wii with Wiikey 1.9g (updated earlier for SMG)
Used Memorex DVD + R
Let the Wii update after inserting the game.
It worked the first time and has worked for an hour so far.
Thanks everyone.

Hello, this is my first post, I've been following along, but my SSBB problem has not been completely solved, hopefully someone can shed some light..?
NTSC US Wii
WiiKey 1.9g
Wii Update 3.2U
Imgburn 2.3.2.0
Pioneer DVR110D
Burnt the Afterdawns iso from emcubed (thank you!), tried it with Verbatim DVD+R DL (Made in India, up to 6x).
Burnt at 2.4x
Tried without layer break 2084960, resulting in normal gameplay but Game Disc cannot be Read error whenever I enter cutscene stuff (opening scene, after one stage in Subspace, after Classic)
Tried with layer break 2084960, Game Disc cannot be Read error shows up before I can press start after "Now Loading" screen
I can still play the first disc in VS and training and such, but it takes a lot out of the game.
Could someone share some advice on this situation?

Yes I did. It was called Super_Smash_Bros_Brawl_USA_Wii-WiiZARD to be exact. I was surprised how easy it was. I'm almost expecting something to happen. Nothing yet, though.

I heard that changing wiikey's config to speed read x3 improves stability and gets rid of the "green screen" can not read disc? Anyone confirm this?
What speed to most of you have your drive set at?

Hello all,
I don't know what to do to play the DL version of SSB.
I have a jap Wii with 3.1J on it (used to be semi bricked)
My wiikey is 1.9g
I burnt a japanese version of SSB (the single layer) which worked perfectly and updated my firmware.
I burnt the DL version on a imation disc.
The game start but I have an error message in japanese concerning the wifi I think. Whatever I click on the result is always the same: going back to the wii channels.
What should I do? Do anyone knows were it comes from? Is SSB US is working on a japanese wii?
Thanks

Hey Guys if I could get some help I would greatly appreciate it. Here's what I've got wii with wiikey 1.9g update and 3.2u update. Been playing my back-ups of super mario galaxy and ssbb with no problems. Played a different game tonight and I got the error disc could not be read eject disc and turn power off. So i did that when it came back up the wii wouldn't recognize back ups or originals. So I used the 1.9b recovery disc which actually worked on the first try, could once again read originals and back-ups. The problem is that it will only read the discs for a couple of minutes and then I get the error message again. I did 1.9b recovery again with the same results. Is the wiikey fried? Is my wii fried? Again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Will try to buy Memorex tomorrow (couldn't find it so I opted for Verbatim). Hope that will solve the problem..? Does anyone know where I can find them in Washington state (near Burlington/Bellingham)?

Burned mine to a DYNEX DVD+R DL at 2.4x using Ashampoo.
Wii read the game. I did the update all the way through and it plays just fine. The battles, videos, music all work. Didn't have a single error.

I was able to make a backup of my orginal SSBB with the backup program on the wiikey config disk 1.3 and burnt to a single layer DVD-R. I don't own one of the LG drives and I've always used the SD method. The hardest part of this method is installing the on/off switch but it's something I've been meaning to do for a while anyway. I have a US Wii and a US version of SSBB. No messing with Friidump, Rawdump 8gb files, 6 hour dumps or torrents.
1. I installed an on/off switch to my wiikey.
2. I ran the wiikey hacked 1.3 disk to boot to the 1.3 config disk with the wiikey on.
3. I started the backup program then turned off the wiikey.
4. With the wiikey off I inserted the original SSBB disk into the wii and began dumping chunks to an SD card.
5. After the dumping was done I updated the wii with the orginal SSBB disk and the wiikey off.
6. I burnt the dumped iso with imgburn to a single layer Verbatim DVD-R at max speed.
The dumped iso was only 3 chunks totaling about 4.6gb like normal games. I think the dual layer DVD is only to throw off the wiikey because the back up seems to be running at 100%. I'm no expert but this only took about an hour or two and the back up seems to be working great. Hope this is helpful :)
After testing the game further I've found that it is not 100%. It is freezing after the first fight in story mode but everything else works perfect. I'll look more into this and post my findings.

I have an internal gecko mod. Is that what you have? Are you saying you have to have a switch on your wiikey in order to use the sd dump method? I have been trying to get the darn thing to read my sd card but it keeps telling me card read error after I put in the original.

If you get an error you can try changing the speed of the burn but persistent errors at any speed mean the burner isn't happy with the media. Better media might solve this though it can be down to a poor burner.

No, I don't have the internal gecko mod, I use the memory card to SD adapter. Yes, you must have an on/off switch or you can't do this method for SSBB. The wiikey must be on to get into the 1.3 config disk and then it must be off to read the SSBB disk. It's really as simple as it sounds.

Hey, just wondering if there's a fix out there to play the original SSBB game w/o turning off my wiikey, or am I just going to have to resort to finding a backup?

either you corrupt the wiikey to allow the original to play, add a switch to the wiikey so you can turn it on and off with ease, or get a backup.
if you already have the original, you might as well put a switch, since you wouldn't have to corrupt the wiikey everytime.
